User Controls dont show anything, i dont think theres a way to hide a thread, once you post in one, its there for good till a mod deletes the thread. It'll eventually get buried under more active threads if locked too which is also a way to have it stop appearing in 'Your Posts' if thats what your seeing the thread in that you dont want in there.

As for if you dont want to see it in Active Topics or Off-Topic, thats impossible entirely if its being posted in regularly or Off-Topic is slow and its still on the first page of the board

Ah well. I only see it when people post in it and I view threads normally through 'Your Posts' and I have some kinda OCD for making sure all freshly posted in threads are clicked on. :P

I don't think there is a trail out yet. I'm really in the same boat I mean I've played it but I would rather have my own a trail account before I spend $100 on it.

They had a free trial weekend back in November, coinciding with a special one time event. There is rumors of another big event in February, so might be another trial at that time.

I'd rather have a normal free trail than a weekend one :/ Why can't they be like other MMOs

If I had to guess, it's just because GW2 hasn't been out for very long. I could be way off the mark, but I thought MMOs generally waited a little while before handing out free trials. I'm not basing this on anything besides straining my brain to remember.

You are correct. :) Not to mention, GW2 doesn't charge its players a subscription fee to play it so maybe they're waiting a little while to put one out or something.

But a lot of MMOs have released their trails by this time. It's been out for along time game time wise. With f2pMMOs I've seen them have trails on day one XD I mean I'd like to play it more but I'd rather not waste $100 on it. No point buying a full game if I might not fully enjoy it.

A free to play MMO can't really have a free trial because by definition it's already free to play. ;) It's ArenaNet's decision whether or not they want to release a free trial and they must have some reason for not releasing a "full" free trial. Lots of people paid $60 or whatever it was for SWTOR to only play for their free month, get their character to 50 and quit. Same concept with GW2 only you don't have to keep paying month after month. It's a buy to play game, they have to make money somehow to keep doing the good job with the game they've been doing.

It's not 100% free to play now is it so it can have one ;) Still I'm going to wait as $100 is a lot of money to spend on something I might not fully like. Free trials are a good way to get new players too. *shrug*

I'm not saying it's a bad game it's not it's quite good. I just don't fully know if I will enjoy it fully (Kinda hard to tell from borrowing someones elses copy)

I never said GW2 is 100% free nor did I say it cannot have a free trial; I have merely offered my personal reasoning for why they may not have put out the standard one week free trial. :)

It would be nice if they did put one out, however, they are offering the free trial weekends so some way of trying the game for free is better than nothing.

True true. I just wished they advertised it a bit more XD I had no clue.

They didn't advertise it openly, I don't think. I believe they advertised it mainly to their current subscribers as the news was posted on the launch screen. It was probably posted on their website as well, if I had to guess, but unless you go there consistently as a non-subscriber you probably wouldn't know. The reason it wasn't advertised was because it was by limited invite. Subscribers were only able to send trial invites to three email addresses. Folks couldn't just hop over to the website and download the client for free, they had to have an invite extended to them with a temporary trial key.

It's probably a really good thing they did it that way, because they had a major one-time event that weekend that was laggy enough as it is, let alone if everyone and their mom was able to play for free that weekend, too.

Well if they do another weekend thing it's bound to be to get more players so I'd think they'd advertise it a bit more. More likely to get players that way. :S Least that's what I think.

Oh I agree, no doubt about it. I think they maybe were a bit gung-ho that weekend, is all. Not only did they want to do a free trial weekend, but they also did a major one-time world event that spanned the entire weekend. If they had done a wide-open invite as well as that event, computers across the globe might very well have exploded. There were tons of people online that weekend as it was, and so many people crashed (including myself) that they had to compensate players a couple weeks later with the reward that they missed. Perhaps they were using this as a sort of trial for themselves before rolling out a free trial in earnest.

Undecided Royi wants to play Guild Wars 2. Royi has been reading up on a lot of what Guild Wars 2 has to offer, Royi is intrigued.

Couple questions for the intelligent masses if thats ok:

Is there any reason I wouldn't want to play as a Asura Ranger?

Do they have any free trial offers coming up?

Do they allow server transfers?

By watching gameplay it gives me a feel of RIFT in a sense with dynamic events. Are those pretty fun? (RIFT's I thought were decent/meh)

I love my Asura ranger, mainly because the pets in this game don't grow alongside you and I'm the kind of person who likes to have somewhat larger pets running alongside my hunter/ranger. :)

I dunno about any free trial offers as I've been offline quite a while now.

I think there is a server transfer system available, however, I don't know the details without going to their main website (which you can do too :P).

I personally feel like GW2's dynamic events are a lot more fun than Rift's. But everything about GW2 feels better than that game, imo. One of the greatest things about GW2 is not having to run back and forth to quest givers and that helping your fellow player out will always benefit you as well.
