FUNNY FR story

So my bf traded an Imp for a future Imp and the person offered to have him hold onto her SD until the Imp breeds in which case he would trade back the SD for the Imp baby. He is allowed to breed the SD as well as a thanks for waiting. Funny part is, the SD is the son of Nef's Flawless! Okay, I thought it was funny

Okay. I don't know what to do.
A few of my dragons are nearing their breeding time (Thank god. I've been waiting forever. I've only had one clutch!) and I'm trying to pair them up nicely.
But with what I DO have, some of the generated colors are... eggggh... yeah.

For my spirals, my INTENDED PAIR was SUPPOSED TO BE Arlo and Tetai. Both are gifts. I love them.
This is their range.

Arlo has Shimmer and Iridescent, Tetai has Eyespots and Tiger.
As you can see, they have a HUGE range. I'm not too sure about that. :c

So I tried Arlo with ANOTHER gift of mine. But she is a Fae. Her name is Duskdancer.

Arlo, once again, has Shimmer and Iridescent. Duskdancer has Freckle.

Their range is smaller and seems okay, except for the Tert. BUT.. Duskdancer was SUPPOSED TO be with Tig, my male fae that was recently gifted to me!

So here is the range of Tig and Duskdancer!

Duskdancer has Freckle, Tig has Tiger AND Stripes.

I really don't like the range of the secondary though! Their Primary and Tert don't look terrible.. But still...

So then I thought. Okay. Well.. What about Tetai and Tig together?

Tig has Stripes and Tiger, Tetai has Tiger and Eyespots.

Their Primary and Secondary are okay.. But their Tert is terrible for that combination!

So by this point I am freaking out. I don't know what to do. Then I remembered my tundras. I love them both so much. Again, they are gifts. They rock.

So here is my Tundra pair. Or what was SUPPOSED to be my tundra pair.

I like their Primary... But.. Uh. The rest doesn't seem like it would match at all!

Again, I like their primary. That's about it.

And then there is Bel! Bel needs someone! Toxic doesn't seem to be right for her, so I guess I can try Bel with Tig!

SO AS YOU CAN SEE. I am sitting in the middle of a Dragon mess! I don't know who to pair any more!
The only ones I am sure about is Skorn and Dignity together and Skitty and Wailord together! The rest I'm just.. HNGH.

I'm terrible at pairing, so take what i say with a grain of salt. Figure out what you want to go for, and pair similar colors that blend well together.

I wouldn't worry too much about pairings that lead to a lot of dark black bodies and bright wings! Those tend to be very popular and would likely sell well enough. Plus, really, almost all colors look good with black.

In general, also, I wouldn't worry too much about tertiaries. Unless you plan on getting them all tert genes, people generally don't fuss over them too much; it's if you plan on getting them tert genes that it starts to count!

Typically, I try to get my pairs to have very limited ranges. Some people like the gamble of bigger ranges, but I'm always treasure starved, so I need to know the babies will sell. xD I'll only have a wide range for the secondary, and only if the primary is assured to be a color that goes along with just about anything. Also, I pair colors; if the primary is likely to be reds, I try to make the secondary red. This can sometimes lead to boring dragons, but oh well, they seem to be popular!

A neutral primary and a bright secondary often work well too.

Oh, and if you can avoid it, don't pair a common (ridge, pearl, etc) with a starter (fae, guardian, tundra, mirror). You'll mostly get starters, which don't sell nearly as well as commons! (Breeding two dragons that both have genes is also good)

I'll look over the ranges a bit more and I'll try not to worry too much about Terts.

As for Dignity and Skorn.. They shouldn't breed then? Dignity is a Pearl and Skorn is a Guardian D:

I personally like having a mix. I have some pairs that offer a very wide variety. They spice up my FR life Other pairs are very limited. I would especially suggest limited ranges if you're going for tertiary genes or something that sell a lot such as obs/obs or ice/ice or obs/bright wing or ice/bright wing

Should have said something along the lines of this myself as well! While I have great fun trying to find the absolutely perfect mate for each dragon, it's completely up to you how you mate them- just have fun with it. ^.^ The very worst that'll happen is you have a few questionable hatchlings to exalt, but then, who doesn't end up doing that now and then?

(Splash/Sunshine/Banana, believe me he looked worse before she scatterscroll'd him)

He isn't RTB for another 27 days, but both of us really want a 100% Imp nest, since she's giving me one of the babs whenever that happens and we just really don't want to take chances with breeding him with any of her other non-Imp females. Would anyone be willing to help, or...?

omfg I've actually made money today??? Bamboo Falls you're my favorite farming place. Hopefully once I get my dragons to 25 it'll be even faster. (They're 24, 24 and 23)

Edit- now I can't decide. Do I get seraph first, or save up and get Iridescent so I get the biggest cost out of the way?
And should I buy Circuit with gems? Bah.
