Then Blizz would also have to fix the "tame stealing" issue, where others can tame mobs already tagged. It also brings up the problem of, say, Madexx/Karoma/Sambas who will aggro if ANY CLASS gets too close to them and that person not being able to touch it. They could run the eff away, sure, but it still could pose a really annoying problem if the rare is in a questing-heavy area and lots of people are attacked by mobs they can't touch. Sure they could easily fix it and make the mobs neutral, which I think should happen, but there is a lot of shit that goes into programming all that.

I do totally agree that SOMETHING needs to be done about hunter rares though. Ghostcrawler was the easy fix. He's neutral, he's in a place no one normally bothers to look in, and if they do, he will not aggro you, and if you do try and kill him "for the lulz" he will kill you because he is unkillable.

Yeah, I hate that 'I'mma kill it so it can stay rare!' mentality. Newsflash: People like rares for a reason, often the unique skin or ability. They will want to show off their rare or use it. Deal with it.

That said, I got to witness a Skarr griefing. :/ What is it with paladins and Skarr?

I keep seeing DK's trying to kill Deth or Skarr. It's ALWAYS DK's, in my case. ><

Paladins/DKs when it comes to Skarr/Karkin griefing. Mages when it comes to Ban'thalos griefing. I want to cuss them out and tell them how badly they're shaming what is obviously the best class in the game, but noooo mages just HAVE to kill the shiny birdie. Slowfall+iceblock (to remove moonfire dot)+high powered fire/arcane spells = dead Ban in less than 10 seconds.

Yep. Cast roots. Wait for it to die. I unintentionally caused Solix to die this way once. I felt bad, but learned the hard way that roots drain energy. LOL.

I am just gonna jump in, but I don't think people can kill Ankha/Magria. Steal tame, yes I've heard of that, but never have I heard about them dying.

Yeah I had someone that HAD an ankha already kill me when my tame was almost done. she was apparently following ankha around for a while because she didn't want anyone to get it and was griefing any hunters that had it. She would have her Ankha taunt the other one if it was a hordie trying the tame and if it was alliance just one shot them since we have to get naked.

Some alliance hunter saw me speak up in zone chat about it so he dropped in and dropped her then tamed the pretty kitty. Comeuppins..she got them.

A charming idiot on the Molten Front just killed Karkin because it wasn't Skarr, to "teach it a lesson".

I had some folks try and grief a hunter attempting Magria by constantly interrupting her tame about 2 seconds before it finished. I think thats about all they can do to Magria/Ankha. They're pretty much like Ghostcrawler, unkillable, unless you somehow make a naked party and own them. I HAVE seen three people take Ankha down via aggro dumps and high burst dps, while totally naked. These were all three casters, so I don't think a melee class would stand a chance, except perhaps a DK with army of the dead.

The tame-griefing is REALLY PISSING ME OFF, btw. This poor little hunter wanted Mag so bad but could not get it because Ally morons thought it was funny to constantly die by interrupting her tame and pulling aggro (they were fully armored, so huge repair bills, not kidding about the moron part).

That is not a bad idea that all rares are non-killable neutrals.
Surely it could not be *that* hard to adjust a few lines of code I would think.
Time consuming yes, but hard, nah, I doubt it.
Blizzard makes enough money off of it's players to afford to pay a programmer to do it lol.
(Kind of ironic the only un-killable rare is named after a programmer on staff XD)

I still can't believe people are that stupid to put themselves into a situation where they have to pay to piss people off.

Although with guild repairs I can see why they think they can get away with it.

Some people. I swear.

Well they can't do that to ALL rares...but atleast the ones that only drop the tear.

It won't discourage anyone. The rares could drop zero loot and the same people would kill it. 25g is two daily quests, which are usually a lot easier to do than kill, say, Deth'tilac or Kirix. They lose more money than they gain about 90% of the time when trying to kill these rares.

OT: Green Madexx spawned for about the 234243th time and was ganked by a mage for no other reason than "thats a hugeass scorpion, I wonder what it drops". I told him nothing, but he still killed it. Idiots.

Sadly I wish I could say that I thought making the mobs drop absolutely nothing would make people want to not kill them but that just isnt the case with most people who actually are griefing these mobs...Alot of them are under the mentality that "If I cant have it because Im not a hunter, I dont want anyone else to." or "Blizzard giving mobs out JUST for hunters? Well **** that." And they'll just kill it to fill their little I am not a special snowflake-void.

Its sad, really. =(

Oh there will always be jerks who need no incentive to be jerks - but that's not the point.

The point is, as long as Blizzard elects to stock the rares with loot that has some value, players wishing to kill said mobs will have an excuse to do so. Granted 25g is a somewhat weak excuse - certainly weaker than wotlk rares with their blue item and adventurer's bag, but it's not nothing either. You can still sometimes find glyphs and such for less on the AH.

And thus rare killers still at least have a fig leaf excuse, because they can truthfully say Blizzard rewards them for it, so they're not doing anything wrong.

Now, imagine if Blizzard had actually set cata rares to drop nothing - not a 25g tear, nothing - that loophole goes away, and the issue becomes a lot simpler. But they didn't, and so caused a lot of unnecessary headaches for the players. It's like they're allergic to being clear about anything. :|

It makes me sad to see Madexx killed... I whispered the only other hunter online and they only replied after a andom paladin swooped down and attacked it. I wgispered about no loot, but no reply, Madexx died and the guy flies away without a reaction.

Poor red Madexx... but I did take a screenie before it happened:

Ugh, that always breaks my heart. Is a little bit of exp (if you're under 85) really that important?
