Really need to download this emote. Would I have to somehow install the zip files, too? Or would the emote come with all the new ones. Kinda confused about that

The latest version of PetEmote has some of the ones that Teigan's compiled, but the most updated "patch" of additional emotes is in the first post of this thread. So yes, you need both the basic version of PetEmote and the zip file from this thread.

I'm new in this forum so hello everyone!

I came across this emote and downloaded two days ago following the instructions. The only thing is that it hasn't worked for me just yet. I have my pet out and I do (to test it) /pe random and it gives me the list of gender, on or off,etc., but nothing happens. Since I read that the time had been increased I waited but after about 2 hrs my pet did nothing. I am not savvy of creating my own emotes so I was hoping that the random would do it itself.

Am I doing something wrong?

Just to make sure, did you download the editor and/or the zip marked "custom-emotes" from the end of Teigan's first post? Sometimes people download the addon without the emotes to go with it. Note also that it does not work when you're AFK, if that's how you were testing it.
Failing that it may be as Jessibelle said, you may have accidentally turned it off. I did a quick test and /pe random works fine for me.

Thanks for your replies and advice. Since I was not sure of what I did or not, I deleted the files and downloaded them all again. Then I went on my search for Olm the Wise, much to my surprise she was just standing there when I arrived at the location (I added the NPC ID#) plus I made a macro. I tamed her without any problems and just running around leveling her a bit I noticed that the emotes started to work. Wow I am so happy now!!!

I got Death Howl last night and today I'll try Rak'shiri. My dilemma of what pets to delete is coming way too soon /sigh

Wolf emotes still have the typoe

'Wolf sniff the air, scenting prey.'

when it should be 'sniffs', not sniff.

Beetles need more emotes imho!

Beetle chitters lovingly to his/her mistress/master.
Beetle looks at <target> and chitters curiously.
Beetle sees a watermelon and zips off to chow down!
Beetle nibbles on his/her master/mistress affectionately.
