Yeahhh, I know. Australia isn't a huge step up in the racism department. x.x But I don't plan on living there forever, I plan on getting out of both countries eventually! Maybe Canada? (It's not exactly spotless, either, but it's a step up.)

Not to sound rude but if you think it truly is better and humanity is at its peak somewhere else by all means try it. I think you will be unpleasantly surprised, being a jerk and racist (by the way no such thing as races) is not a "white person" trait its a human trait. Being ethnocentric is a survival trait for communities, the best we can do is recognize it happens and try and adjust our views a bit

Well said. This thread has hit a pet peeve of mine...people who judge a country who haven't even been here or anywhere else to compare it. I've travelled alot and you can do alot worse than the country I'm proud to call home. Nuff said.

You know I haven't been able to travel much yet, I settled down early and that sort of thing is expensive with children, but I have my degree in anthropology because I love understanding the way our world and people have been shaped. My family on the other hand does travel extensively , and have been to many, many places, not all of which are normal tourist targets. We had a conversation about it the other night and it basically what it boiled down to is " home may not be perfect, and we sure as hell have our problems, but travel really puts it into perspective, especially when you can get in with locals and really talk and learn from them. Everyplace has bad things and every where has beautiful examples of what we could be, the fact is humans really are not different deep down and saying f white people and f an entire culture is rude and shows a distinct lack of understanding of humanity. By the way if I were to say the things about people of other ethnicity and other countries that have been stated tonight about " whites" and the U.S you can bet I would have a major warning for violating rules.

I'm sorry you guys think this is being judged on too harshly, but a cop literally just got away with the murder of an unarmed, innocent black man. They then tried to cover it up as much as they could, and tried to make it seem like the peaceful protesters were causing trouble so they could teargas them and shoot at them.

And a little 12-year-old black boy was fatally shot and killed by police because he had a toy gun on the 22nd. He didn't threaten them. He didn't do anything wrong, and they shot him. The racism in the U.S is beyond out of control -- I know that it can be said the same in other places in the world, but this is bullshit and goes beyond infuriating.

This is to the point where I fear for the lives of my cousins, who have a white mother but black father and have darker skin than the rest of the family. I truly, honestly, fear that one day they're going to get shot because they have a darker skin color than a white person.
