Yeah, that's a good idea. XD Sometimes this poor thread ends up dying completely when there's not some kind of news to be discussed.
I remember back when this thread would pretty much ALWAYS be active. XD

Gen I: For me, it's Charizard. He's one of my absolute favorite Pokemon, and the one who got me into the franchise in the first place, and my first ever game was the original Red version for Game Boy. For a while, when I was younger, I hated Blastoise, but he's grown on me over the years, and I quite like him now (his mega evolution, though, not so much). I don't mind Venusaur, but he's never been a favorite of mine. I like his leafy bangs, though.
Gen II: While my favorite is the Totldile line, way back when during my first playthrough of the original Silver, I chose Cyndaquil, because I thought it was adorable and I've always been fond of Typlosion. I think Chikorita's adorable, but I do not care for Bayleef and Meganium at all.
Gen III: Here, it's a dead tie for Blaziken and Sceptile (though I honestly prefer Grovyle), while I am not a fan of Swampert at all. Mudkip's cute, though. I'll probably end up choosing Treecko in Alpha Sapphire.
Gen IV: I had a difficult time choosing between Chimchar and Turtwig, because I absolutely adore both Infernape and Torterra. Torterra ended up winning out for my first playthrough of Diamond, because of his design is based off the world turtle, and that's a myth I've always been fascinated with. I find Empoleon rather meh.
Gen V: While it took a while for all three starters to grow on me, I ended up choosing Snivy in Black, because I liked Serperior the most out of all the final forms. In White, I chose Oshawott, because I had a soft spot for it and its evolutions, while I disliked Emboar for a while, due to being disappointed that it wasn't a quadrupedal boar and because it was yet ANOTHER Fire/Fighting starter final form. The shiny form looks really awesome, though, and Emboar has grown on me so I may end up trying for a shiny Tepig eventually.
Gen VI: While I was disappointed with Delphox, I ended up choosing Fennekin because it kept making puppy eyes at me (I was originally going to choose Chespin because, at the time, I liked Chesnaught best). Braixen and Delphox eventually grew on me, and I love them now (shiny Delphox is gorgeous). During this time, I avidly disliked Froakie and his evolutions, especially Greninja. There was just so many things wrong with the design, and I couldn't see why it was so popular. But, thanks to the anime, Froakie began growing on me, then I saw Greninja's shiny form, which I absolutely loved, but I was in denial about it, until my best friend bred a shiny Froakie for me (after I'd given up on trying to breed my own), and I promptly maxed out his affection in the Amie, evolved him, and when I saw him in battle, I understood why so many people liked him. Now, he's my favorite Water-type starter after Feraligatr and tied with Samurott. I still like Chesnaught, but funnily enough, I still don't have one in my game.

My fiancé loves Venusaur as well, he never cared for Charizard. He *is* the popular one. Since the mega forms I prefer Charizard Y over the regular but hey. xD
And Jurz, I don't care for Generation 4 in general. At that point in time I'd drifted off the Pokemon scene. When I came back, barely any of the Generation 4 Pokemon appealed to me. I have a few, like Floatzel is my personal favourite from that generation, but the legendaries to me were so off-putting. Giratina especially weird me the hell out.

That's funny cuz there's also very few that I like from gen 4 as well and one of them is Giratina XD Especially in his Origin form <3 There's a few other's I like too, but for some odd reason most of the Pokemon or just the game in general didn't appeal to me at all. I quit after beating Pearl and the only reason I got back into Pokemon was cuz they released Gen 2 remakes and I absolutely loved playing the original Gold

There's actually a good bunch of 4th gen Pokemon that I adore. XD The Buizel line, Cranidos line, a BUNCH of the Legendaries... (Like seriously, 4th gen Legends are awesome. Darkrai, Shaymin, Dialga, Cresselia, the Lake Trio, GIRA-FREAKING-TINA... Yeah. XD)
The 4th gen games themselves aren't my favourites, but I do enjoy some of the Sinnoh Pokemon. <3

Oh I forgot about Shaymin. Despite being a little brat in the film, I do like Shaymin's Sky forme a lot. All the other legendaries from that gen to me though are just... meh.

is anyone available to do a quick trade on Pokemon X/Y? I have a Feebas I didn't realize needs to be traded to evolve. I have the scale so all I need is somebody to help trade. I'll be playing for a while, I'm not sure how long. I'm on now though.

Thanks. Sorry about the first one. Kitten bopped the screen. She's a little trouble maker.
Edit:
Bah... I can't rename this Pokemon I got from GTS trade? They named it "in GTS" and I figured I could rename it because I was able to rename other ones I've gotten from trade. the name rater says it's an impeccable name and just told me to take good care of it. =<

Thanks, guys! I'm going to wait and raise Matrix in Alpha Sapphire, even if you can't get the mega stone for Metagross till after you beat the game (I have a feeling this'll happen since you couldn't obtain Beldum till after you beat the game back in the original Gen III games). And, Snowy, I really wish I had your luck when it comes to opening card packs. o_o

What did you get from the cards snowy?!?
Finally got all my pokemon stuff organized. I need more binders and card sheets ^^; all my pokemon tins are full of cards that don't fit in the binders (which are full)
(paining on the wall is of my BF and our daughter when she was born, done by
Trish Smith, my Grandma)

I was tempted to buy some new pokemon cards... but I resisted. I have all off the originals. Not sure if my second set is complete though, I think it is.
I've spent hours trying to catch a Gooey Goomy... I've caught every Goomy I've encountered, 28 in total. Are hidden abilities that rare? I want a male but a female I can breed one from would work.

All I do with the cards right now is try and get 1 card for every Pokemon. I have nearly all of Gen 1 and 5 so far. XD

You'll need a Dragon-type friend safari that has Sliggoo as one of the Pokemon, AND, you need to have seen the safari's owner online for hidden abilities to be obtainable. The only way I know of that you can get 'mon with hidden abilities outside the friend safari is through hordes, but I don't think Goomy is a horde 'mon.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, guys.
