If you -really- want to do something PC-related and you can get access to a copy of Windows, making a Windows-specific partition and booting into it via Boot Camp works reasonably well (I've tried playing with Wine but any installed programs seem to just disappear into the aether, except the -one- I got to work which kept whining about not having the .NET framework installed... which was one of the things that kept disappearing when I went to install it

). It's kind of a pain to swap back and forth, and my keyboard doesn't fully work in Windows (driver issue, I assume—my number pad just flat-out doesn't register, which makes logging into WoW a pain in the ass since that's what I use for my authenticator

), but I did it to play with Cata-beta WMV and attempted to use it to use some of the F2P MMOs, just to see what I was missing on that end (they never worked properly anyway).

Right, I have a level fifteen Defiant necromancer on Galena named Sat now. Good times, the game is actually pretty fun. It's similar to WoW, but different enough that I'm not bored with it.

I know, right! Necromancer-Warlock-Chloromancer, I'm like the MASTER OF DOTS! BWAHAHAH! Also, I get a cute skeleton pet, and that alone is enough to keep me playing. ^^

Omg it gets better when you go farther up the Necro tree the little skeleton turns into an epic skeletal dual-wielding assassin(zealot) I love mine!

Psh, it's all about being an elementalist/pyromancer.
I need to fix my chloro build--either chloro's terrible for soloing or my build just sucks. Gogo DPS spec. XD
Also, Riftblade warriors are fun too, especially combined with champion. <3

I thought Chloro was a healing spec? Try putting points in necro for the tank pet, and then go full chloro, might work better.

It is the heal spec. I'm chloro/necro/warlock going as much down chloro for healy stuff as I can. I wonder if getting the tank pet first is a better idea. Either way, soloing in my DPS spec doesn't bother me much; I kill stuff pretty fast as ele/pyro and my rock pet holds aggro nicely. ^_^

I tried Rift out, and though I didn't get to the end game, I can comfortably say that while I do understand its massive appeal, it just isn't the game for me. I feel like WoW has more character, more humor, and isn't quite as dry. While I do like a lot of the mounts and creatures in Rift (and Necromancer pets are awesome!), again, they seem to lack character.
Of course, I've always been partial to cartoony things my entire life, and stylized graphics usually win me over faster than graphics that are as realistic as possible.
The play-style felt identical to me. Like I said, I didn't do any raiding (just spanked some rifts and some pug dungeons), and everything seemed to go by WoW's formula. The packaging is just different.

Personally, WoW's endless supply of pop culture references and jokes are getting old. It takes away from any sort of any originality in the game for me and it gets incredibly old after a while. Again, this is just my opinion. Some of the jokes in WoW are/were funny, but more and more they're getting old and tiresome.
Edit: Used the word old one too many times now that I reread that. -_-

Aye, have to agree with Tyger. Back in vanilla, quests in WoW were, admittedly, mostly dull affairs, but when you got to one with, say, a pop culture reference, you'd go "Cool, I watched that movie!". TBC was more "Huh, yeah, seen that. ^^" and "lol, poop quest.". WOTLK took it too far for me: "Oh, another poop quest. :/" and "Yeah, that particular movie has already been referenced twice - BORING!". I won't go into Cata, it seems every third quest is a reference to something, and most of the time they're stepping away from popular things and going more into obscure stuff, which kind of makes me go "Couldn't justify another Top Gun reference, eh? ^^", which is a bad thing. Rift seems to take itself more seriously, and I kinda' like it.
Now if only the clothes were less revealing... I suppose they get better as I level. *Shrug*
Just out of curiosity, how do the fees look on the credit card bill? I'm hoping something like "Rift Subscription" or something? Just don't want it to look like I'm going from one MMO to another, y'know... ^^

To be honest, I'm not sure. My bf handles all our bank account info (mostly because I'm too lazy to look). If someone else doesn't answer that for you by the time I get home I'll have him check.
Edit: Also, I was mocking the whole plate bikini thing in Rift too. =/ It's one of my few complaints about the game. My warrior's current chest piece covers her boobs and that's about it. But looking at other games, it seems to be common practice that women need to look "sexy" while fighting, even if it's totally impractical.
The one thing I do like about my mage's shorter robes, however, is that when she's on the back of one of her mounts, she doesn't look awkward sitting the normal way because the robe is short enough that she can sit like that. Always bugged me that we wear full length robes in WoW that just cut right through our mounts.
Speaking of mounts, I'm fairly impressed with the way their horses look. The run isn't perfect, but they look pretty good for a video game horse.

Horse eyes look like that in my experience. I've never actually seen a horse IRL though, so I'm probably wrong.
I am SO getting one of those robot-horses though! xD

I always feel like you only have negative things to say sometimes Cowmu. -_-
Yes, the eye looks a little wonky, but OVERALL it's pretty damn good for a video game horse.
Aye Sat, the robot horses are freakin awesome. XD I can't wait to get one.
Edit: I see why the horse's eye looks odd in my pic. If you look close enough, you can see that he actually has an eyelid with eyelashes that are pretty detailed (considering those are medium level graphics for me) that are making his eye look weird. Upon closer inspection he actually looks like a normal horse (and yes, I've seen them irl).
Edit again: I lied, its not eyelashes, it's a weird lighting effect on the horse's eye making it look strange.

To be fair, I had to squint to see that eye. That said, this monitor I'm seeing on it is crap.
But yeah, that horse is pretty damn amazing quality. O_o

Is there, like, a barbershop or something where you can change your char's appearance? xD

I edited my post again.
And as far as I know there isn't a barber shop.
