No no no no.... Malorne will keep his unique model... if they made stags with his model not to mention tameable ones.... it would just ruin his model...

Didn't read through the whole thread, but I figured I'd add my two copper.

Was reporting the bug with Spirit Walk and Prowl as well as some bots so I figured I would ask if there has been any update on Hydras and this is the response I got....

Of course he says soon so it may be a looooooooong time before we see them as a fully tameable pet.

Or the guild housing. Or the Tabard keyring. Or the end of the time. Who knows, but based on the addition of pet families, they only happen during each expansion and not in the middle of them.

On the bright side, we might get even better pets than hydras during this time.

And was thinking in the basilisks, hippogryphs, kodos, clefthoofs, thunder lizards, centipede silithid, gryphons, Epicus Maximus and other flying sharks, raven lord (Possibly as a spirit beast), Couatl, snap dragons, darkmantles, wyverns, fen striders (aka marsh walkers), rams, armadillos, shoveltusks, zhevras, girafes, stags, horses, etc. You name it.

And there are way more monsters in the rpg books/novels that would make better pets also O.o

'Tabard keyrings'... they're already taking out keyrings and making us carry our keys in our bags again.

I suppose we might eventually get some Character Pane UI window that will let us 'store' tabards, but I'm not seeing them spending UI space on a tabard drawer when they're already going to kill the keychain space.

I was lucky enough to tame the Ghost Hydra from the Oracles daily quest A Cleansing Song during the first month of WoTLK before Blizzard made it untamable. Up until the last patch it was always listed as a Croclolisk and a tenacity pet. but after the last patch I noticed that it is now listed as a HYDRA and is now a FEROCITY pet with 5% crit strike chance. There is no reason for Blizzard to do this if they we're going to make them tamable in the future. So keep your fingers crossed and come 4.2 there could be a number of Hydras in our cities.

I'm taking an optimistic stance on the debate.

I know it's just speculation right now but I just can't shake the "feeling" that Hydras will eventually become tamable beasts someday (hopefully sooner than later).

Where is my hydra? THEY ARE STILL NOT TAMEABLE, I am getting sick of this blizzard give us our hydras.

No matter what GM letter Q might have said...Blizzard never promised us that the hydras would become tamable. Someone datamined something out of the files for the 4.1 PTR that was then subsequently removed from those files, and Blizzard did some tinkering around with a possible Hydra family during that 4.1 PTR. Never once has any blue poster said this was coming. Furthermore, they've not promised us hydras becoming available in 4.2 either. GMs do not have a direct line to the developers, so they don't really know, apart from what few hints they might receive while reading the company newsletter on coffee break. Either we get them or we don't - but either way, we certainly haven't been promised them.
