Game is now officially released.

Wow i just checked the older thread that I started about swtor which was on December 30th 2010. Its been a long time waiting after hearing about it a couple years ago, just even on these forums its been 355 days.

This game amazes me more and more as I progress. Missions have more and more twists and turns and it feels nice to have that "perfect blend" of MMO and RPG together. In warcraft you could never make decisions on how quests would be handled, it was always kill this guy, then help this guy, then kill 10 more of this type of guy. I never had to read quest text or pay attention to the story behind it (even though they did have some great questlines in wow).

SWTOR is different, I haven't been engaged into a storyline like this since the Mass Effects. Unless you had a great imagination it was hard to get involved with a storyline (for me at least), it always was "how many bars away till next level am I?"

I love how theres a main "class story" questline that evolves your character within the Sith Empire, demonstrating your rise within the ranks of the Sith. To go along with this main "class story" you have plenty of other quests / side quests / quest hubs that you can do in the meantime to take a break, get some more rewards, or maybe get a little bit more exp so you're better prepared against your next challenge.

The Voice acting of some of the main characters is really great as well, I personally love whomever did the voice of Darth Baras (sith warrior's will know who he is). Very scholarly in the script and annunciates his words very accurately.

I love having a Starship too. Its neat that I have options to do different space missions (basically a rail type shooter) and have full ability to fly to many different galaxies now too. Its pretty neat sitting in the cockpit and watching your ship jump to Hyperdrive to travel to the next planet.

Anyway, my two cents so far :)

Agreed; I'm usually happily surprised when I gain another level, since I'm so engaged in the story. I don't feel like I'm over halfway to max level, you know? I'm really not thinking about it. Obviously, I like some planets better than others, but that goes without saying.

Leveling crew skills isn't a big deal either, since my inactive companions are doing that while I'm doing normal stuff with my favorite. The initial speeder training fee seems steep, but it actually doesn't take that much questing to get the credits to get it; only about a couple levels' worth for me.

It's thrilling to run into familiar voice actors during the most random quests. You just never know who's going to pop up or when, since most quests involve talking to someone. It's been very cool hearing a greater range from some of them too. The amount of work put into this all must have been astronomical.

I really love how every class is basically a hunter, with a companion balancing whatever you're missing.

I still love the group conversation stuff. Because I sometimes run with dark siders, I get to see the side of the game that I wouldn't normally get to see on a light side character. I also really like that we do get to choose on some things; I don't always agree with the Jedi Council's stance on certain subjects in this time period, so on rare occasions, I take the dark side points instead, just in principle. Sure, it'll slow my progress toward the maximum light ranking, since I'll have to pick up the points elsewhere, but I don't care. There's something really nice about having that kind of freedom. You can still benefit from doing the quest, but it doesn't have to end in a way that you (or your character) disagree with. There's actually at least one guild dedicated to grey Jedi on my server. That's got to be a fascinating experience right there. They'll miss out on some perks, but they're able to choose that path.

There's a strong vibe of having learned from past MMOs, WoW included, in this design. This is the next stage of evolution. Sure, it took a lot of extra prep time and work, but the results speak for themselves.

The main thing I dislike about going grey is that there is a lot of gear that is either "requires Light I / Dark I" or however they word it. Its a bummer a bit because most of the choices I generally make go back and forth from Light to Dark. I decided myself I'm going to try and go as light sided as possible as a Sith Lord. I think that'll be interesting especially if I can have some nice White robes at a higher level :-P The fact that I'm a Sith Pureblood would make it extra special (i'm a bit odd). It is interesting choosing Light Sided options when prompted by my Master, sometimes I can make him see the other side even.

When I end up going Jedi I will definately try and go as Dark as possible on that side. Being a Light Sided Jedi or a Dark Sided Sith just isnt that fun.

Even on the Sith side there is a Light-sided vendor in the main hub, so if that guild goes more "dark" they would be able to access the same rewards someone dedicated to the light would have.

My boyfriend has been able to keep up a large amount of credits by doing the space missions everyday. The experience they allot starts to become total crap, but they reward a pretty nice payout if you do them regularly since they're dailies. All Heroic missions are dailies as well, thus netting further credits for speeder training. :)

And I beg to differ about being a dark sided sith. I made a pureblood warrior just because of the NPC ones I had kept encountering on my alien characters and it's a bit of a riot to play the total prissy bitch when I'm on her. And I feel like Inquisitors, especially alien ones, have every right to want to be dark side after the way they get treated on Korriban. I'm going light side on my Inquis because Chlora's just not evil by nature so I picture her as rising above the treatment she's faced.

Wouldn't it be nice if they had gear that required Balance?

I like that idea, I whole bunch of sweet Grey gear only for players who can stay right in the middle (neither dark nor light)

Oh, and I have to add this: dailies on TOR are infinitely more enjoyable. The space missions alone are basically minigames rather than tedious amounts of work.

Out of curiosity, is there a Screenshots folder like there is for WoW? I looked through my game folder and didn't see anything for screenshots.

You can't play as a Wookie can you? Wookies are the best race in all of Star wars no one can compare!

No Wookies Cow, but if you play a Smuggler you get Bowdaar the Wookie as a companion (to let you RP han solo style more)

Kali ~ I'm having problems with the first space mission. Its a type of escort mission where I'm supposed to shoot the figher ships that attack it. The ship keeps dying even though I'm very quick to kill each of the fighters.... Is there any trick to them?

Maybe I have to upgrade my ship's parts, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Can somebody explain the in-story reason why smugglers end up on the Republic side? I understand the game-play reasons (to give that side a 'light' ranged DPS class, to match against bounty hunters on the Sith side, and because Han Solo needs to be one of the Good Guys), but what's the reason given for why they support the Republic? If anything, they should be a neutral faction, not actively supporting or opposing either side, but trying to make a buck off of the chaos of war....
