And all appearance buff pets have relation. Cause if they hotfix this one, they may end up hotfixing them all.
If we live in that much fear, then meh, I'll dump them all.

Can't ask for anything more than this. The information is out there on the internet (and indeed, as I said earlier, I heard about it from a friend before it was on Petopia) and so all we can do is say how things work and warn people about the consequences of misuse.
Really, Jessibelle, it feels like you're overreacting to all of this. It's understandable that you'd want your own pets to be safe, but there's no harm in people using their fire pets for fun, rather than exploitive purposes (like the aforementioned PvP reasons).

I think the issue though, is that not EVERYONE who sees the "pet" and asks after taming it is always going to have good intentions. And that the fear, is that some random hunter will find out about this, or see it ingame, and then go and take advantage of it. And then everyone else could be "punished" by having Blizz find a way to once and for all fix appearance buff pets because no one bothered to make a bug report via tickets (which DOES work, I've had NUMEROUS GMs create and submit bug reports with information I've provided in tickets, in fact, every bug I've reported has had that done, so saying that's pointless is.. pointless

) or on the forums, and so Blizz figures we're taking advantage of them letting us police ourselves, so to speak, when it comes to knowing WHAT is an "okay" appearance buff, and what isn't.
Yes, it may be over reacting... But the fact is that as far as we know, no body, until Dialga, as far as anyone KNEW, or mentioned, had reported this as a game altering exploit. It seemed that everyone was relying on blizzard, or other higher ups on this forum, to find us talking about it on the forum and figure it out and deal with it themselves.
In short, just because WE are responsible in the fire's use, doesn't mean everyone will be. And while people aren't directly responsible for the actions of others, there's still something to say in regards to discretion of spreading the knowledge of game-altering exploits. It's not okay, for example, to use speed hacks, or spread information on how to get them, even if you only intend to use it to get around in SW, to speed up your bank to AH travel time, or something...
Just my 2 cents again. I'm very much a rule following in most situations, and I especially don't like the idea of promoting issues which could be direct exploitations, even if the "promoter" themselves aren't using it a bad way.

Crystal, Jessibelle, please remember, this is the internet. There are no secrets and the information is going to spread, regardless of whether there is a thread here or not. The least we can do is tack on the obvious (to us) warnings alongside the taming information, which other sites are going to be far less inclined to do.

Oh, I understand. But that's like telling a kid not to play with matches... while playing with matches in front of them and saying "But I'm responsible, so it's okay if I do"... You're saying "I can use it cause I'm not going to exploit it", while trying to tell all the people that WOULD exploit it to just not even bother cause it could ruin other people's fun with the pet, or other appearance pets. And the big issue too, is, as I pointed out, until Dialga we didn't even know if this had been REPORTED as an exploitable appearance buff. It's the combination of all these issues which make it a sketchy topic, in my eyes.

Once again well said.
Just because you're responsible doesn't mean the guy next to you will be.

So only "special people" get matches?...

Haha, well, that seems to be the feeling I'm getting from other people. I, on the other hand, am promoting the idea that since playing with matches isn't a guaranteed safe activity, NOBODY should do it

We can confirm that yes, matches CAN be played with, however, they shouldn't be, and as a sign of being good role models, we won't play with matches infront of others who might abuse the ability... <.< This is analogy getting a bit weird, I'm going to go eat dinner and watch some netflix, heh.

I think I prefer my mom always telling me that while I'm driving, I need to watch everyone else. Just because I follow the rules of the road doesn't mean everyone else does. That guy next to me could run the stop light.

So only the special people get matches, and they'll lock them away and never use them... err...

Which is EXACTLY why i refuse to have it by my side out in the open. I'd like to keep this pet.

By all means go and tame one for yourself, they aren't reserved for anyone "special". But just don't use it in pvp, at all.

Look at it this way, Jessibelle and Crystal. You both know for a fact that at least one dev watches these forums. The forums now know for a fact that this pet is tameable. Ergo, the devs now know and will make the proper adjustments to avoid unsavory people obtaining and exploiting this pet, which is what you are both worried about.
They're not going to take away your boar or your worg, and honestly it seems a little selfish if that is your main concern. During the beta Noah and Wain encouraged Petopians to do as much as they could to glitch, trick, or tease tames, so that problems could be solved and unintended pets fixed.
Bringing this to Petopia's attention brings it to Noah's and will have the matter resolved in a sensible way. Has he tried to screw the hunters over yet?

You really think Noah watches these forums 24/7 or bothers to read all these topics? You've gotta be joking.....
and for the record....Beta =/= Live. Very different. Beta, they encourage EVERYONE to break the game. Why? Because thats the purpose of the Beta. To find what can be broken and to fix it. Live isnt supposed to be broken.

You've missed my point entirely, so I think I'm going to avoid further argument with you. Nonetheless, I wish to observe that of course things will be broken on live, and without players bringing it to GMs or other Blizzard employees' attention, they would never be fixed.

Because a "What is this fire pet?" with multiple pages is a touch different than, "I tamed Skarr lol!" Just sayin'.
And for the record...Obviously, it wasn't picked up in Beta. At least it's picked up now and can be fixed.
Believe it or not, sometimes things slip through the cracks. That's why they have maintenance. To fix the, you know, broken stuff on live.

I think it's you that missed the point. ._. You seem to be under the impression Noah will go through every single topic and actually see these things. He's a very busy man.
Things on live can be broken but thats on ACCIDENT. Not on purpose. If we're purposely doing it and know its wrong to do it.....well...we're just as bad.
@Azu: True. I can see this getting his attention if he managed to scroll through the 50 stickies before it. But he's also gonna see everyone purposely getting the pet for lulz and pvp advantage and allowing other players to see that pet and encourage them to get it.....never ending vicious cycle.

Agreed with this... We don't know FOR A FACT, that the dev team has access to this board, right now, and that they therefore know about the issue as soon as we do... For all we know, Noah could be taking his 2 week vacation right now, and won't be around for a while. Or might be too busy with WoW stuff to bother browsing the forums just incase someone finds a glitch and decides not to report it...

Alrighty, I've notified Noah about the thread, he can look at it when he has time, and then Blizzard can decide what to do.
Let's all calm down here, things are getting a bit cyclical.
