Pop culture references, yes. Silly, yes. But they are real dances. Saturday Night Fever, real dance, classic disco. Macarena, very silly but a dance for a song danced by real humans in a music video and all over the world at the time. Can't touch this, real dance for a real song danced by real people. The thing is, all other races have dances danced by real people.

I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm not angry about this (because it's done, I know I'll not change Blizzards mind), just disappointed. I'm sure there are other pop music videos that have awesome dancing, if they wanted a ready-made vid dance instead of say, researching fan dance and making /putting together a small choreography for the Pandaren females.
THIS.SO.MUCH.

The old dances are something awesome and somewhat 'historic', not just a crappy fashion MTV video that is popular since two months like Beyoncé, Timberlake or this two clowns here. This is just mainstream. I hate mainstream.
lol! How is the PBJ dance and the ghetty booty fem orc dance any better than the new crap? Haha. XD you guys really.

I don't like the fem dance either but this makes no sense the way you put it. XD

I'm not thrilled about the female dance because to me it doesn't even look like a dance, more like a work out with a random bunny impression thrown in. I wasn't familiar with Caramelldansen before this and without context the moves just don't make sense as a dance. Still better than the female worgen dance, though that's not saying much. >> But I don't normally let my characters dance anyway so whatever.

I guess what people are getting at is that the Vanilla dances were more iconic and well established in popular culture. WoW came out in 2004, Macarena in 1995, Riverdance 1994, Saturday Night Fever 1977, Can't Touch This 1990 ... Basically those things were old by the time WoW came around but people still remembered them. Blizzard didn't just go for recent fads when creating the Vanilla dances, which I prefer aswell. Since then Blizzard's knowledge of popular culture has been narrowed down to "anything that happened since the last x-pack". But it's been that way since BC (using Napoleon Dynamite for Blood Elves), so it doesn't surprise me.

But Caramelldansen is iconic. It's one of the most popular memes out there. I've known about it for years. The only other meme that beats it, musical wise, is Nyan Cat. That is probably one of the reasons it got chosen....because the majority of people know it and know the meme. All those songs you listed are popular songs that everyone knows too.

I dont really like the female dance.. little to cutesy for me and the bunny ears.. kinda bug me.. I think it lasts to long.

The male dance.. I kinda bursted out laughing when I first saw it. Anyone else watch his belly jiggle then stare in awe at the rather plump guy with some mad skills? hes agile!

The new dances are just as iconic to the internet generation of people though. (Whether you like them or not)

Best dance ever.

I do like the shufflin part of a Male panda, it almost makes me want to play one come next exp. I like that song

I dont understand why that female one is popular on the internets, it must be a anime thing. I watched it on youtube and was immediately annoyed.

I don't quite agree with that. Party Rock Anthem is well-known both on and off the internet by a large and varied crowd, as far as I can tell, so... fair enough. Caramelldansen, however, is more or less exclusively iconic to anime fans, who don't really represent the internet as a whole.

We can debate pop culture all day long. It's very subjective! I love anime, but had to look up the Party Rock shuffle. *SHRUG* Just b/c it doesn't represent your niche of the world doesn't mean it's bad. I had no earthly idea til I read this thread the belf male dance was Napoleon Dynamite. Probably b/c I've yet to see it >.>; But it didn't annoy me just b/c I didn't get it or whatever. It's still pretty fun to watch. :)

It's about like debating whether or not an apple pie with a hole in the middle is funny.

though, the transitions between the moves IS a little abrupt... I'm sure that will get fixed, though :)

One thing I did think of is that this is Blizzard conflating Japanese and Chinese things again, which has got them in trouble before.

I'm not an anime nerd, and I've known of Caramelldansen forever.
