Squeee! I adore baby tarantulas! To me, they're like fuzzy little kittens or something. If I could cuddle them without smushing them, I would.

I absolutely love A. purpurea, they have such lovely colouring. I love Avics in general, I have an A. avic and an A. versi. Another stunning purple/blue tarantula is the L. violaceopes:

Sabbath is doing very well! :) Getting nice and fat on crickets, hee.

I don't have any new photos since he's quite the recluse and I don't want to disturb him from his hide. If I ever get the chance I'll definitely post some more though!

Sabbath graced me with his presence tonight, so I managed to get a photo while he was actually out of his hide. Unfortunately he's a bit dusty since one of the cats decided to tip his enclosure earlier. He's fine and unharmed, just a bit grumpy after having his house rearranged and dirt on his head. He's twice as big as when I first brought him home, though that's not really evident in the photo, haha.

Oh he's looking good :)

I take it you don't see that much of him, though?

Hee, yeah not too often. I can see him inside his hide of course, but he's not out much, he likes his burrow.

Why not tape some black cardboard to the outside of his enclosure where he hides, so he thinks its all dark and secure - then you can open it up and peek when you want to!

Wouldn't quite be the same for him, he likes knowing the feel of a snug burrow, and it's not that big of a deal for me. :) I don't need to see him constantly.

Mine hide much of the time too, especially Lamyka. Sometimes I catch them out and about, though. :D

Sabbath is beautiful! I love the velvety black of those. I think you mentioned it a while back, but he's a grammostola pulchra, right? I like grammies. Heh, sounds like "grannies". I have a g.aureostriata, although I think they've changed the name of them?

Yup, he's a little G. pulchra! <3

And ooh, you've got a G. pulchripes! They have such gorgeous colours sometimes. I love the knees.

Grammies really do have the best temperaments. :)

When you can afford it, you might have to set up an infra red "burrow cam" :)

Not sure how much infra red web cams cost. Maybe not much?

Woke up this morning to find Sabbath laying down a little molting mat! :D I'm super excited, I've had my suspicions that he might be molting soon just with his behaviour lately, but this pretty much solidifies it for me. He just keeps growing. ♥

EDIT: Molting commenced!

I'm surprised he's not molting in a burrow. I know most tarantulas usually do so they're protected. Guess he knows he's "captive".

I know! He always has before, in fact he usually goes out of his way to make sure I can't see, so I'm really happy that I can watch this time.

That's awesome!! If I weren't arachnophobic, I'd love to have a tarantula like Sabbath (or that pretty blue one that was posted)
