Oh snap! That's a great find! I had a feeling something like zone drops would do the trick. Will be interesting to see what the drop rate is!

Excellent find! It's good to see they're implemented, now comes the waiting game until someone makes a Sky Crystal...and then to hope they report what they find!

So the skyshards could just be lucky rare drops!

Oh wow! That's awesome. However, since it's a purple item, I'm guessing the drop rate will be... pretty damn low. This might be one hell of a rare spawn!

Anyone had any luck finding more Skyshards? Killed about 300+ of those mobs so far so I'm guessing the drop rate is 1in1000 was hoping for a 1in100 if thats the case its going to be a long long grind for this rare xd

I think that might be the point though. I've said this before, but I get the impression this isn't just a rare anyone can get lucky with. You actually have to be trying to get the mount in order to get it. You need to be willing to grind the items and then wait for the spawn. Of course, I don't know whether this is true or not, but I'd say it's a pretty good guess based on what we've seen so far.

It definitely seems that way, but with it being such a long grind a few questions regarding the Sky Crystal come to mind. Will the item be consumed on use? If so then thats going to suck on PvP servers or if you died to Alani, and if it has unlimited uses then the person who has it could sell the mount to others etc. It's down as a consumable on WoWHead which would make the most sense but hopefully the fight isn't to difficult!

Kinda makes the question whats worse worse sitting at one spot camping for hours/days/weeks/months for the rare like TLPD or spend that time grinding. Its an interesting concept though but dang I hate grinding..

I hate grinding! I know I'll never own a fox kit! There must be more to it though than just hoping for lucky drops!

Imagine being in the middle of grinding for the shards so you're all prepared to fight her when Alani spawns above you... x____x

I was just kidding, geez. And how do you know they drop off mobs outside of that zone? As far as I know, they drop off specific mobs only in that zone.

As was I... forgot the smilie.. ;D
But you might be right, they might only drop in that zone, and thinking about it, that's probably a case.
On the other hand, seeing her spawn will give you an idea of spawn timers, so at least you have an idea of when to look next. It would be annoying if you just picked up shard #9...

If anyone hasnt seen, the Sky Crystal does indeed make Alani vulnerable

We don't know yet Alani's spawn timer on live. So much I think we'll only find out in two months! And, I doubt I can afford a sold fox kit!

I was killing some mogu up the hills above the little area where I got the Skyshard and one of them dropped this (check bags):

I went into the halls but couldn't find any cache of any sort, so I'm guessing they still need to be implemented. But I was thinking that maybe this cache has a chance of containing a skyshard. Would be pretty cool.

I think that'd be pretty hard to pull off. As it is, she's likely to stay up for a while once spawned for a period of at least a few months...it will take a good amount of time before there's a lot of people running around with Sky Crystals, I think!
