Well, at the moment Chen(?) stepped in, he was an unknown and since they were already in RAWR BATTLE MODE, they immediately assumed 'omg strange new thing smacking us - enemy!' Note once he knocked them both on their asses, they came to their senses a bit. Doubtless before long they'll be trying to strangle each other again...just not where they can get slapped upside the head by the monk.

The touches of humor are amazing. The spear-pass, the 'mace' straightening, I love it.

And also you gotta take note that Chen laid down his weapon and instead slipped it through the strap of his pack and used it to hoist the pack on his shoulder, making it known he was done that fight against the orc and human and was going to move on :3

I liked a comment I read that the Horde and the Alliance are like quarreling brothers - as soon as a third party comes in to interfere between them they take care of that first so they can get back to fighting.

Hee, their behavior makes perfect sense for the cinematic. ;) I'm just saying that there's no thematic equivalent of that in the opening quests in JF - the alliance and the horde don't team up at any point to face the Pandaren. :)

but none of the other expac. cinematics ever really showed "game play" either.

remember, this ISN'T actual game footage. it's a cinematic. it's meant to tease the story, and the zones, what's coming.

remember the Cataclysm cinematic? (I DO! it gave me nightmares for weeks).
it concentrated on destruction.
lots and lots of destruction.
no actual game play.

I do think it would have been cool if the Sha had been shown or hinted at, just briefly towards the end perhaps to leave an ominous sort of "what's lurking in the shadows" feel, but I'm incredibly pleased with this cinematic regardless. :)

Hah, I love that idea. Very good analysis of how I see the factions. Kudos to that commenter.

To be fair, only so much you can do with 3-4 minutes while still keeping a nice clean narrative.

I absolutely loved it.

Through all the comments on the EU forums desperate to find fault and say "kung fu panda" as often as possible, one I loved was someone who pointed out that the human and the orc are so busy trying to kill each other, they fail to notice this epic new world around them. It made me laugh and it was beautiful to look at.

It lacked those epic moments in the previous trailers that showcased the "big bad", such as Illidan at the end of TBC, Sindragosa rising out of the ice behind the Lich King, and Deathwing's "and all will burn... beneath the shadow of my wings" as various areas crumble in his wake (if the comments on trailers in the forums are anything to go by, I am one of the few people who loved the Cataclysm trailer), but I thought it was equally as amazing in it's own way. I am sure I will watch it endlessly, as I did with all of the others.

I've said this several times and I'll say it again; the team behind the trailers would make an absolutely amazing movie.

Well, I'm pretty sure the events of this cinematic happen -before- we arrive. I think they're the

QUESTLINE STORY SPOILERS
original ships that find Pandaria, that we the players eventually go looking for.
END SPOILER.

I would love that as much as the next person but I also know that'll never happen as it would take too long and cost way to much. I know I sound like a downer. :S I don't mean to be.

We had a talk last year with a Aussie studio at animation school who only does cinimatics like this (they did the Dawn of war 2 one) and the amount of work they put in to make like 2 mins worth of animation is crazy so a 30 min TV show let alone a movie would be insane!

Oh, another part I loved: When the human hit Chen's hat and Chen was all "Hrmph" and I could just imagine him thinking "You broke my hat..... time to step things up a notch!"

I loved this cinematic but I think the WoTLK one is still the best. It gave me the chills back then and it still does. (pun not intended)

It was just so touching.

"But the truest victory, my son.. is stirring the hearts of your people."

and

"I tell you this, for when my days have come to an end.."

"you.."

"..shall be king.."

EDIT: Also omgwtf I didn't tell you this before Mia, but I love that signature of yours to death. The one with Mia with her cloud serpent.
