Rhyela's Black Bear

* Try tanking an 80 elite with your pet - we tried to tank a lich in Icecrown and the bear was quickly expunged. I finished off the lich myself, but was tossed over the side like a used cheeseburger wrapper and died when I landed.
* Level it a level or two - I killed a couple of those large groups in Icecrown and then got bored. However, I do like the Swipe ability. Paired with Thunderstomp it seems nice. However, I can't really measure whether it truly holds a significant amount more aggro because whenever I level a pet there, I use MD + Mend Pet and rarely pull anyway (unless I just do a crappy pull to start)
* Do a heroic - I couldn't justify taking a Tenacity pet into a heroic, especially one I'm not very fond of to begin with.
* Do a battleground - See above.
* Check the pet out in different lightings - It's black so it looks pretty much the same wherever we go. Maybe just a little bit more or less black. :P
* Check out swimming and possibly levitate animations (if any) - I didn't try Levitate, but they're cute when swimming. But honestly, I have a druid so I'm already familiar with the bear walking/running/jumping/etc. animations.
* Get a screenshot of you and your oddly fitting or entirely mismatching pet!

Image

* I've never been fond of the bear model, to be perfectly honest. I dislike the jaw when they're idle, it just looks off. Not to mention it doesn't join completely in the middle so you have this pink gumline going all the way up to the nose. However, the diet is easy, since it eats everything. The thing I did like about this particular bear was that it matches the Dun Morogh cub I got for my birthday from a guildy. :)

But other than that, I don't think it's a pet I'll keep or get again. I much prefer turtles and boars. :) Still, this was a fun exercise and I got a fun picture with mama and cub. :3

Having to do a lotta rerolls for the lower-levels but hopefully these guys will work :P

That pic of the bear & the cub is adorable!! I didn't know that about their face/gums by the way, I'll have to go find a screenie of it later :O

i tried soloing an elite with him, went okay but pet died about 25% left, i finished him off.
Leveled him 2 levels
did a arathi basin, the ranged attack is nice
didnt do levitate, swimming is cool but would be better if wings were bigger and outstretched.
no screenshots and i will prolly abandon and redo this again until i find one i like =) moving and non moving animations are fine but i was thinking the entire time that his wings need to be a lot bigger. like they had no way of lifting the snake-like body with tiny little wings.
for some reason my wow folder doesnt hold my screenshots so they are lost forever onto mah computer
other sidenote: bestial wrath isnt anything special

No need, Acherontia, I took a pic of the strange gumline already. I just forgot to post it.

I don't know why, but little things like that tend to bother me. It's like once I notice it, I can't stop looking at it.

Final results of yellow/blue moth test:

She looks quite pretty in most lighting conditions, though washes out a bit in dark environments. Her swimming animation is nice, just a slow flap.
In conclusion, I really like this pet! The healing component of her special ability gives her a better chance of survival, but it also gives her attack power a boost. She did remarkably well when I got myself into a 7+ dogpile of lvl 70-71 mobs, even though I'm only 70 and she was only up to 67. She's beautiful, tough and fluffy! I will definately make a moth a permanent part of my stable at some point.

Now, on the to orange and black spider!

Okay! Hyena test is done.

Name: Dusty
Species/skin: Yellow hyena, from the Barrens.
Level: 15, leveled him to 79.
Screenshot: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jyFJzg015L4/T ... 22806.jpeg <- Link because it's a big picture.
Thoughts on appearance: He's beautiful. I love his shiny golden flanks, and his muddy legs. He looks spunky and his eyes are full of mirth. He has a happy, jumpy run and walk. In most places he looks the same, but the Barrens makes him light up. It might just be me, but it looks like his shiny yellow fur lights up like a torch in the Barrens sun.
Thoughts on ability in dungeons: As I have used hyenas in dungeons before, I know this pretty well. Average. He didn't do anything special, his dps was okay but not amazing, and his special skill didn't help. Still, solid enough.
Thoughts on ability in solo: He seems to hold aggro better then my cat or my wolf. I quite a few herds of rhinos in Storm Peaks, and he was usually holding aggro on at least one of them the entire time. He was also adorable, so that made things better. Did a fairly good amount of damage, and never needed healing. Tough, steady pet.
Overall thoughts: Love him! Come Cata I think Dusty will be joining my side again at some point. He's full of personality and a solid pet in many respects. Plus, when I walk around in sunny places, he shines. <3

And so..
Rassaa, level 80 BM/MM hunter, ready to get a new roll!
Stables: Red lynx, red hyena, OCJ, yellow coyote.

I see what you mean now Rhyela. I think I never noticed it because my bear was the rotted kind, and all of those seem to have dark gums, so it isn't visible at all. But now that you pointed it out, I don't think I could ever have a non-diseased bear pet :P

Teigan, you're making me want to tame a moth lol. Once my account is active again, I may give one a shot... >.>

Aaaand, Rassaa! LOVE that screenshot of the hyena. I have never seen them look so golden!! They always seem a drab brown to me, maybe it's my settings, but that one looks gorgeous. Or maybe you're just good at lining up a screenshot :P

For Rassaa, a second helping of randompet:

Current stables are: Red crab, black lion, and grey armored boar. :3

Okay, I'll bite! Can I actually get one for each of my hunters?

Silinrul is a level 80 NE BM hunter. She presently has a Scarlet Tracking Hound, Loque'Nahak, Skoll, a white devilsaur, and a disembodied Jormungar. I'll probably be releasing the worm for a bit, seeing as I really haven't needed him much of late.

Taigi is a level 72 Tauren BE Hunter. She currently has Humar the Pridelord, the black and blue carrion bird (probably the one who I'll release back into the wild), a color-changing ravager, the blue serpent, and the black outlands raptor. She needs to free up a stable slot anyway in order to get Artcuris in two more levels, so this might be a fun way to start that off.

Interesting idea, by the way. Love this idea for a challenge :D

in conclusion, I really love this pet he's hungry often and his health goes fast but the noises he makes is adorable, he always seems to be full of energy, always curious and I love him for It looks like i'll have to get rid of him though because he's lv.19 with no talent points....
