I remember zooming in and going by pixel if I had to, when I did stuff like this a few years ago. I doubt much has changed.

depending on what program you're using you can increase the tolerance of the fill, which will consume more pixels

I made the lineart its own layer and coloured beneath the black lines so that no white showed afterwards. You have to make a mask from the image to raise the lines as their own layer.

I selected the transparent area with the wand tool, 33 tolerance. Then I just colored.

For people using bitmap programs, save the image as a black and white bmp, then save the new image as a full colour.

This was done quickly in Paint, and is probably the best anyone could expect from such a miserable, prehistoric program.

The idea was an "ice" devilsaur. Even though I don't really like the color blue, I thought it looked pretty neat.

Wow you guys have some great ideas. An icy devilsuar would be such a cool spirit beast Edrawr! And one with a skull face for an undead would rock too Rubybeam! Someone link this thread to blizz and make them make these. I would, but they don't let me post there...I got a little mad when my worgen pet went away. I really earned that one But I'm really impressed with what everyone's doing. Hopefully I'll have some time to make more of these soon.
