I don't care whether they're classified as beasts or not but I have always wanted to be able to tame a red or black Drake. We can ride them, why not have them as pets?

Because they're considered sentient beings....self aware like you and me.

Plus the aspects would probably swoop down and kill you faster than you could blink.

Hydras, please. I would -really- like to have one already. They would almost certainly be exotic, though.

I think we're due a flying spirit beast (two cats, ew). We already have this crab, so the next major patch would be great to get a flyer. I still find it odd that there are two cat spirit beasts, but hey, to each their own.

Hydras would really make the perfect Exotic addition I think. ^^ *crosses fingers again....and sends another suggestion in beta*

Make it happen. I'd do the same, but my main computer is getting some technical love. My beta is going to waste!

Just voicing my desperate, pitiful plea for Thunder Lizards. I have always wanted one and the green one with red plates is right up my alley. I think it's because they resemble stegosaurus, which are my favorite dino. <3 Gimmeeeeeee!!! *grabby hands*

I'm surprised they arent tameable yet anyway. they'd fit with the rhino family or something. or maybe a dino family.

yeah...but the special spirit beast stag could be all white crystal silvery kinda like the new crab.

Pets I'd kill for:

* Black Dragon/drake (yeah, debate all you like but I love it )
* Hippogryphs!!


Pets that should already be tameable:

* Basilisks
* Hydras
* Stags
* Thunder Lizards
* Pterrodaxes
* Diemetradons

I think the more "developed" looking ones (with the mace tails, 4 limbs + wings) would look a little odd as pets, though I wouldn't care to speculate on what if any reaction the aspects would have to this (after all, a hunter tame entails the hunter winning over a creature with love and tenderness and so forth - this is why it is permanent and not limited duration like a mage charm)...

I'm kind of on the fence about protodrakes however - I always pictured them as more beastlike in both mentality and appearance (plus some actually are classified as beasts, for those who see current species tag as the One Truth) So I could probably get used to that happening.

Two dragon types that I think would make excellent hunter pets are arcane wyrms, and faerie dragons.

Basilisks, no question. That by itself would solve my "I hate all non-exotic Tenacity models" problem (except Terrorpene, but being a Rare I'm not holding my breath). Unless there's some deeper lore reason why they're fundamentally different from Crocolisks then I don't understand why they aren't tamable already. Dimetradons are in this category as well, IMO.

Others would be cool, such as Mana Wyrms or whatever, but I can take those or leave them.

As for the horse/Zhevra thing . . . I don't know. You can argue all day about how they are vicious in the wild or how other pets we currently have don't make sense, but Equines just don't fit to me. The whole thing just feels . . . Off.

I agree with your 2 suggestions, and as I have suggested before, I still want ungulates of all types. I just want a Zhevra in the worst way. But I just think it's silly that something isn't made tameable because it doesn't feel right. I mean heck, they switched demon dogs to the dog family so we could tame them. And for me personally there are a lot of pets that don't feel right for me to tame. I'm not a huge fan of bugs/spiders as pets. But I'd never vote them out as something for us to tame just because they don't feel right to me. I just won't tame them. Though I have fallen in love with Grubthor. I picked him up last night. What a cutie!

I think most of us can agree that if it is marked as a beast, it is quite silly that we can't tame it. Or at the very least a Beast Master hunter can't tame it. There isn't a single person on here that has went up to a beast hoping to tame it just to find out it wasn't tameable. And I personally believe the determining factor for taming should only be whether it's a beast or not. Blizzard has created beasts for us to tame while leaving others untameable. It's all very silly that we even have to make cases for what beasts a hunter can or cannot tame.

Whether logical or not, you can't just dismiss a person's gut reaction to things, otherwise there would be no reason to have graphics in the first place (among other things), and it would be World of MUDCraft.

And I recognize that cuts both ways - to me a horse as a pet feels weird, but to the next hunter it feels perfectly normal; all you can do at that point is agree to disagree.

I think that Kodos and Clefthooves should be included in the Rhino family (renamed as Packbeasts or something like that). They're the same type of creature, and I'm pretty sure they all use the same model skeleton, so It wouldn't exactly be hard. I'd also like to see a Clefthoof mount, but that's another thread.

Basilisks are an easy addition as well, but I feel they should be a seperate pet family to Crocolisks; I can see them being in the Cunning group and featuring a movement speed reduction or stun ability (they're paralyzing the enemy with their stare).

I'd love to see Hydras tamable as well; they'd likely be exotic. They could have some sort of pinning ability,holding the enemy with one head while the other two attack. Their large body size also makes me think they'd be Tenacity.

I'd like to see more variety in bear skins. I've been taming a lot of new creatures since the stable size increased, but I can't say I really like any of the bears currently in game; I don't like the diseased skins and the rest are too plain in my opinion. Maybe some kind of striped version or a model based on the Moon Bear. Sun Bear or Spectacled Bear.

Something that's not in game right now but would be awesome is some sort of ceratopsian dinosaur. Triceratops is a well-known and popular creature, and with the recent research going on about it, I think it'd be a good addition to the game.

I would kill things for a triceratops pet. Do want! Lump 'em all in with the large dinosaurs or make an entirely new family to encompass them all, I don't care. But a triceratops would be epic.

As for the ones i'd like to tame right now:
Mana Wyrms;
Hydras;
Spore Walkers(tripods);
Armadillos(I do hope they become tamable somewhere after cata. They fit a lot as tenacity pets );
Shoveltusks(they could form a family together with stags, which i'm not really fond of, but some ppl seem to love'em);

Some families in which i see problems:
Pterrodaxes(i think they are fugly. A better model/skin would be nice.);
Thunder lizards(too big);
Diemetradons & Basiliks(They COULD join the crocoliks family, but would be unfitting, imo.)
Hipogriphs, Zebras, Giraffes, Horses, Kodos(Mounts. )

WTB Hydras.

Kodo and Clefties would fit in with Rhinos since they all basically used the same model reskinned. Granted Steggadon do as well (Ish) if more reptile so what the hey, have a "Reskinned kodo" family.
