I had no desire to tame that turtle...but with that Item..I just. Cant say no. o_o

It makes me think of him as some noble creature, longing to serve beside a great master, yet unable to help his terrifying appearance that most are scared away from. Yet deep down there's that sadness and loneliness that none will approach him out of fear...just wanting to be loved.

Finally, someone draws near. That glimmer of hope, and then.....he is dying. Another being who thinks him a monster and must be slain. A single tear rolls down, not one of hatred, but one of regret for what there could have been.

Oh god...that makes me want to cry. I will have to tame this poor, sad turtle now, and give him lots of love and turtle treats.

If that crystal is priceless... why does it only vendor for 25g, heh.

It should be truly priceless and no vendor would take it. It wouldn't keep non-hunters from killing the guy, but it would keep the ones who did it in the past to think about killing him again. ...or maybe not.

...and the turtle might have actual LOOT loot on Live.

I realize that pent, but for all the other rarespawns I've killed, they've already had their loot implemented. Armagedillo drops a 2h mace, and Blazewing dropped some leather pants.

Yeah, I had to patch it in manually to get that one (using Ladik's MPQ editor). I hope you can get WMV to display it better than I did, though. On mine it came out dull and didn't show all the bright effects.

I ended up asking Vephriel to grab a picture for me after I failed to get him to show, but it sounds like yours and hers look about the same. Still, it's a picture.

That's so unfair.
The first time I tame a raptor (back in vanilla) I tried to name him Yoshi, but that name wasn't allowed.

As for Terrorpene, I'm trying to resist the urge to post a request for him to be usable as a cooking fire

I can finally say that I have acquired Terrorpene last night on Lost Isles as soon as I logged on at approximately 11:40 PT. After having issues with my internet for a couple of hours, I thought that perhaps someone else had tamed him and I logged on to see who was in the general vicinity. Imagine my surprise when I logged on in Mount Hyjal and the area was devoid of anyone else. A rush of adrenaline shot through me when I noticed that there was a red dot on my minimap; it was the infamous Terrorpene! Remembering what some people had said about him being a rather difficult tame, I crept up to his left side just out of LoS while on one of the rocks in the lava and hit tame beast. It worked like a charm. He hit me with something that was quickly draining my life from 79K to almost 4K by the time the tame was done. He did not seem to have any other attacks but that does not mean that they dont exist.

Many many thanks go out to Wrathar, Ayddan, Veph and everyone on this thread here for all the advice and suggestions regarding the taming process of Terrorpene. And to all my fellow Petopians out there, don't despair in your search for this or any other epic pet in game! Persistence definitely pays off and patience WILL yield the desired result. In the meantime, while camping for "your" rare, strike up a conversation with a fellow hunter in the area to pass the time. The friendships you make out of it are certainly worth it.

SOMEONE just picked up the turtle on Lost Isles maybe three minutes ago. Wain's spawn spot. 'Now' is a very good time to check for the lion and scorpid as last night they all popped within a half hour of eachother.

Gonna' be so much fun to kill this turtle...

Eee finally found him! Tamed just now, 12:15pm Realm Time, Lost Isles US. I logged in and he was just sitting there in the lava. ^^
