Bats. I really don't like them. They just don't look right. Like wise for silithids.

I used to strongly dislike the fel reaver. And then I got my first tank to 80 and started going out and ganking them back. Oh yeah, that felt good. Die you nasty robot die.

I had originally posted quotes here.
But I'd rather keep myself out of the drama.
This thread is intended to talk about creatures in WoW and it should be kept that way.
I'm completely in shock at how turned around this thread got. D:

I wanted to add that I hate how they took the warp stalker and made it a "spiny lizard"
Really? How hard is it to come up with an actual lizard skin?

;)
actually, no, you know nothing about me.
far from lonely, happily married, passionate about my work.
yup, had a hard life, lived through some terrible things.
not a trump card.
and I happen to be relatively open about my life. I don't mind.
sometimes, sharing things like that can have a positive effect on someone else, help them realize things about themselves, or get through their own hardships.

I never said your thread was offensive, by the way.
what I did comment on was how passionately "hateful" some participants have been regarding the topic.
I don't happen to believe in "hate" as a positive force, or as a casual utterance.
so sue me.
I happen to believe the bandying about of words like "hate" is what gets innocent people shot in the head in shopping centers.

and I still don't like spiders.
but I do love the sparkly pets.

Madexx and all of his colors.

Even people with Madexx... including myself.

I'm only disliking Madexx until he chooses to show himself for me. =P

Sukurachi wrote:I just feel strongly about the way the word "hate" is bandied about by so many people these days.
In the end, it seems to desensitize us to the actual meaning of "hate".
How about love? That word gets used in lightly a lot. But, we can discern when someone is using it lightly, or is actually talking about love in the sense of being in love with someone else?

In a similar sense, I feel that there still is a clear distinction between hate in the sense of dislike, and hate in the sense of anger-driven (and fear-driven) hostility or outright violence.

This serves as a good parallel to this thread. I think the title is meant to be an antithesis to "What Pets Have you Grown to Love?". Would you assume that posters in that thread are madly in love with their pixellated pets? I don't, and by the same token, I don't consider the posters in this thread to be harboring a seething hatred that you (rightly) find disgusting.
pengupuff wrote:Lol, here comes the post that's going to get me banninated. Ohwells. I've had some fun times on here, I'll miss a lot of you.

Sukurachi, I'm sorry about all the terrible misfortunes you've suffered through, but please explain to me how in the fuck any of what you said even remotely pertains to anything else in this thread?

I'm not sure you get where I'm coming from. I'll set up a similar situation for you. Lets say Bob and his friend Timmy are having a conversation:

Bob: Hey Timmy, have you seen the movie Inception? It's pretty good.

Timmy: Bob, you're so insensitive. I haven't had time to see any movies because I've been too busy signing up to donate my good kidney to an orphanage full of sick children. You're clearly oblivious to the way the world works and should feel sorry for me.

Bob: lulwat?

<FIN>

I'm fucking sick of walking on eggshells on a World of Warcraft forum because some people are just circling around like vultures, just LOOKING for something they can spin so it makes THEM look like a victim. It's just ridiculous... like, I can't even wrap my head around how stupid this is. Offended because of my thread title: "Creatures you've grown to hate?" Wow. Just... wow.

You're all going to think I'm being completely insensitive, but you know what? Life's hard. We've all had tough shit to deal with. But strong-willed people can deal with these unfortunate life events without exploiting them for attention.

inb4 shit storm.
The sad part is that Sukurachi's original observation that sparked this debate describes this reply of yours.
Sukurachi wrote:wow, you know, there's really a LOT of unbridled hate in this thread.

Well, the last line still is a rather bristly comment to make to someone's who's angry.

Ultimately, hating is part of the human experience. To deny that there are things you dislike in this world is to deny part of yourself. The problem is finding an adequate release for these otherwise negative emotions. I hate cauliflower; to stress my intense dislike of this food I speak my dislike whenever it is presented before me and I avoid the nutritious vegetable like the plague. There are some people I dislike and some things. To channel my anger, I usually play a game that involves killing a lot of things in satisfying and gory ways. In real life, I'm a very non-violent person. Hell, I rarely kill spiders and insects.
It's not being able to release these feelings in a healthy way that can cause someone to go berserk, as it were.

I can admit, some of the word choice in this thread was poor and perhaps a few people are getting a little worked up over pixels for unwise reasons. I also think pengupuff was completely out of line personally insulting you Sukurachi. But the people of the thread was mostly keeping it civil; there were no fights breaking out and a few people were amused by the choices of others. Perhaps a debate or two poped up, but nothing too bad.

On topic: I dislike the Direwolves and anything that shares their animation. So this extends to Sabrewolves and Mastiffs. It just seems to me like they're about to fall flat on their face, like they're doing the canine version of lurching forward. It's a shame, as I do like many of the Direwolf skins. Ironjaw is a beautiful pet, if it wasn't for the horrible run-lurch I would go out and tame him right now.

I also dislike Rhinos. Which is strange, as I don't mind Kodos and Clefthoofs. I guess I don't like the fact that their face and legs are furless and they appear to have horn overdose.

Finally.... Loque's model. Don't get me wrong, I love my Loque'nahak to death. I am so eternally grateful to have him by my side and I love watching his graceful movements... But his anatomy just makes me wince. Specifically his shoulders, which are just way too big. It just looks to me like his spinal cord is being twisted into strange and unhleathy shapes. I get that Loque is a stylised interpretation of a cat, he's not meant to be super atomically correct. But his barrel chest shoulders just make me cry.

I hate the running animation of the regular worgs. It doesnt look natural. Looks like they're hopping to me, especially when they're mounts for horde.

The pig people in Barrens, and the hyena people... so annoying with the noises they make -_-

And with the story they did for the worgen, it makes me wonder if they were once druids <.<

This thread is evil ... EVIL I SAY!

We need to stop focusing on the creatures we dislike and rather, focus on the ones that we adore. Discuss what makes them so awesome to begin with imo. Just saying.

While everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, I feel this particular topic goes against everything we as hunters have strived to accomplish over the years. After all, we've wanted so many beasts to become tamable in the past - and now, most of them are. Blizzard has been so generous to us in regards to tamables - to knock some of them down just seems counterproductive.

To be fair, I did not read every single post prior to mine so my argument only stands to defend against the posts specifically addressing hunter pets/tamable beasts.

Ugh, please stop injecting lovey dovey hippy stuff into a thread about dislikes. It's part of life to hate or dislike things, so chill.

Anyway, I also hate the old world cat models, they just plain don't look like cats.

I think everyone needs to take a chill pill. This thread isnt supposed to be demeaning or insulting or condescending. It's just to express we don't like certain creatures for whatever various reasons. We have DOZENS of threads expressing what we like. This is just another perspective and perspective is something a lot of us could use a little of.

That was harsh and I am chilled. Was there any indication in my post that indicated I wasn't? If there was, I did not mean for it to be implied that way.

The wonderful thing I appreciate about this thread: Petopian's are passionate about their pets! Love or hate em', there is a pet out there for nearly every taste, Blizz has been VERY generous & kind in this regard. I have tamed every species of pet to be had in the game (live, never had ptr access), given every creature the benefit of the doubt, tried another color when the "bond" faltered...but spiders just could not win me over.../cowers (will spare you the rl story, lol)
At the end of the day, all that matters are those beloved pets in YOUR stable. Now with that said, let's all give our pets a lil extra kibble & attention...cuz they love us unconditionally...even if they do aggro all those extra mobs! <3

Too bad WoW moths don't have Prism Beams :D

As for my own opinion on the matter, I've never liked the "transparent" Spirit Beast look. Granted, it does fit with the "spirit" aspect, but it could have been done better, seeing blocky portions of the beast's other side through its body is off-putting. I prefer the solid Spirit Beasts, and Loque'nahak especially, and doubly so for being the only beast of his kind with his model in the entire game (his mate doesn't count, she's an untamable goddess :P ). Until Blizz does some work on the ghost Spirits, I'll leave them for those who like them.

Gorillas and Monkeys are also on my dislike list, gorillas because of their constant ass-scratching. flat butts and weird faces, and monkeys for using the exact same animations. Would it have killed Blizzard to make some hyperactive hopping, restless pacing and other monkey motions?
