As much as it sucks and totally goes against the goal of the site, that may be the best idea; just stop breeding for a while. There are so many dragons and too few people going dragon searching that the market is glutted with beautiful but unwanted dragons. It's likely that the only dragons that will still sell at all are Skydancers, and only until people run out of treasure.Vephriel wrote:I think I might just stop breeding altogether, aside from a couple special cases, until new registrations open. As much as I enjoy seeing the outcomes, the economy and market for hatchlings is so bad right now it's not really worth having clutches only to frustrate yourself trying to sell them and being forced to price low just to move them.
Considering the entire point of the site is breeding, I do hope they hurry with whatever maintenance they need to do to make the site stable again.

We really, really need new registration.
*nod* We're at a fixed population on the site, and the more time that passes, the more users are going to fill up their lairs and become settled with the amount of dragons they want/need, and no one is going to have to buy more. So it really is for the best of people just slow down on breeding since hatchlings are going to have nowhere to go.cowmuflage wrote:LupisDarkmoon wrote:As much as it sucks and totally goes against the goal of the site, that may be the best idea; just stop breeding for a while. Guess I'll do that too. >.> No one buys any of my stuff ever! So new blood will bound to be good for me *hopes like all hell*
i dont plan to breed any of my starters at all... they do need new bloodVephriel wrote:I think I might just stop breeding altogether, aside from a couple special cases, until new registrations open. I'm not even going to bother with uncommon breeds, even pearlcatchers and ridgebacks are starting to go for 30k, and will likely continue to drop in price as more flood the market and less people buy. It's just not really worth it right now, and I'd rather wait and make nests once people will actually want them again.TÄrnfalk wrote:i dont plan to breed any of my starters at all... they do need new bloodVephriel wrote:I think I might just stop breeding altogether, aside from a couple special cases, until new registrations open. This will be a problem anytime that they introduce new breeds though. I'm not saying we don't need new blood but I'm certainly not going to stop breeding my dragons until then. I do make money off of them still. I adore my dragons and I feel awful letting them sit there doing nothing. I'm sure you've all seen how Skydancer prices are fluctuating. To be honest who knows when new blood will enter the site, they haven't updated it so I'm not holding my breath /shrug.LupisDarkmoon wrote:Now, with how dragons/lairs currently work, it's possible that hatchling prices will never really go up that much and will continue dropping, as more and more gened/rare dragons enter the market... Which may lead to people exalting dragons that we'd never dream of exalting now. I mean, more players would help, but it wouldn't be the constant stream of players that we'd need to keep the market ever-refreshing.
It's tricky. Sites like Magistream were more about having massive amounts and less about each creature being special, so there was always a market. FR is the opposite. Makes things kind of hard.
And yeah, lots of people have just given up on breeding starters for now. I plan on breeding only my pairs that make really, really shiny hatchlings; and even then, I'll probably only breed them once before giving them a nice long break.
Hopefully, once the Skydancer excitement is all over, the prices of the common breeds will rise again. At the moment, though, everyone is spending all their treasure on Skydancers and don't want to waste Skydancer money on dragons that, well, aren't Skydancers.
Shalyth wrote:Thankfully with the fairgrounds working for the most part now its not too bad expanding lairs until you end up in the high hundred thousands so I'll probably continue to breed pairs I've double gened as I can farm treasure for lair expansions but I don't think I'll be selling them to the economy till registration opens
Edit: Tiger scroll, please come out to plaaayyy~ I'd like to buy yooooouuu
