Oh Nice!!! A yellow corehound model!

Actually, there's one patch of green on Gomegaz's right back heel that I think may not be deliberate. It looks like part of the fel core hound skin that hasn't changed for some reason, because it's in a discrete green band and doesn't blend. I'll look into it.

The fire on the green core hounds is now fixed. It's proper yellow-green instead of mostly black. The model change probably got caught between builds and the fire update hadn't gone in.

Looks like Oscar's getting an upgrade!

I can't find the yellow core hound skin. I've tried every combo and different name for yellow that I can think of, and loads of misspelled versions too, and no luck

Is the yellow skin perhaps the green and red skins over-layed on top of each other on the model? That might explain why you can't find the base skin in the files.

I don't think the model supports this, but maybe I'm wrong. Correction: the model does support this! It's a very clever idea:)

There's definitely NOT a yellow skin in the main database for this build. I've extracted and checked all the unnamed blp images. But that doesn't mean it doesn't exist, it could be in the cache as a post-patch download, or however they do it. I'm honestly unsure how that all works but it wouldn't be the first time I've observed that happening. If it's still missing from the next build I'll be more suspicious.

I'm hoping for a rainbow of corehounds eventually. We still need blue, purple and red (the current one is more orange).

EDIT: there is a "glow" file that is separate from the skin file. So maybe they are mixing the skin from one with the glow from the other. Hmmmm.

It's the green skin, for *sure*.

If you look at the arm joint in this picture, you can clearly see that there is fel green there:



So the base is the green corehound skin. The glow that's covering it, on the other hand, is a different color than the one that covers the usual green, like you said. So what glow, added to green, would make 'green' into 'yellowish'?

.... that's an actual question; I'm honestly not sure if the usual glow would or not.

WoW Model Viewer doesn't support multitexturing of skins, but I approximated them in GIMP and tried them out on the model.

The closest I can find is a combination of the orange and green skins, with no glow skins involved. I can't find a display entry for this, but maybe it's cached or I missed it.

Usually the corehound has a regular skin and a corresponding glow skin, which are multitextured. In the case of Gomegaz it doesn't look to me like a combo of green base with orange glow or vice versa, at least not from what I've tried. That's my guess so far, anyway.

Man, Core Hounds really got some love this expansion. As much as I love Chromaggus, and as much as I hate having more than one of the same pet class (other than carrion bird and spirit beast), I may tame Gomen just because that looks stunning.
