Why, oh why, when I am perfectly happy RPing, must someone who manipulated and treated me like crap speak up and totally ruin the mood? Brain, why must we dwell on this? Let it go. Let go brain. You're worse than a pit bull on a steak or a honey badger in a ball pit. We shouldn't let small, spiteful things like this ruin happy times.

When gays/lesbians use the term "breeder" and think it's allright to use it and yet complain when a straight person gets angry. Useally these are the people who go on about how straight people shouldnt use anti gay slurrs and yet think its fine to use anti straight people ones like Breeder and others? If you want people to stop useing anit gay slurrs stop useing anti straight people ones! It's not going to change if you keep useing those too!

(and don't tell me Breeder is not as insulting as the anti gay ones as they are.)

First off Cow, MOST gays and lesbians do NOT use the term "breeder". We know it's offensive.
And I'd dare say that proportionally, there are FAR more homophobic slurs being slung than heterophobic ones.

My turn to actually rant about something:

I was recently diagnosed with diabetes.

My brother hasn't stopped sending me emails with links to all sorts of articles about how this artificial sweetener is dangerous, or that one causes cancer in rats when you feed them 5 lbs of it every day, etc...

I'm stressed out enough by the diabetes!! I do NOT need extra stress on top of that. Why doesn't he send me links to promising research on a cure for diabetes?

I know he's trying to help, in his own twisted little way... but sending me articles telling me that all of my sweetener alternatives are deadly poison doesn't offer me any OTHER alternatives! I sure as hell won't start eating regular sugar!

You'd be surprised how many heterophobic slurs are used nowadays they just don't get as much attention as the homophobic ones. I would not say MOST gays/lesbians do not use them quite a few do and then rant on about why homophobic ones are bad  .

If one considers that LGBT people are denied basic human rights in many countries (including some supposedly "civilized" ones), I happen to believe that the trauma, the hate spewed at them, and the difficulties they go through in life gives them the right to a BIT of leeway when it comes to this issue.

It is perfectly normal for LGBT people to feel resentment against the "ruling majority" who continue to deny them basic rights, who ACTIVELY fight to deny or even remove rights from LGBT people. There is a far greater bitterness in the LGBT community toward the privileged majority, and it is patently unfair of you to bemoan them expressing that bitterness. Yup, it's not nice to call straight people "breeders". Most LGBT people don't. Some do. And guess what? You should give them a free pass on that until they get absolute equal rights. THEN, and only then, can you start to feel "insulted" by being called a breeder.

You, as a heterosexual, are in a privileged class. your rights are defended, protected, enshrined.
Maybe now you will fully understand what it is like to be called all sorts of horrible slurs all the time.

Hey! that's my 2nd rant today..
Well, I guess it's time for me to take a break from this forum. If I feel the need to rant about something ON this forum, then there's something wrong.

You do know they have the same rights here in new zealand right? If one here is going to call me a breeder I'm going to get insulted and I don't care what you think.

You DO know that they do NOT have the same rights in New Zealand, right?

Lesbians and gays cannot marry in New Zealand. And "civil unions", while "virtually" identical to marriage is still "separate but not equal".

Nor can gays and lesbians adopt. What sort of demonstration of the regard in which gays and lesbians are held do you think that demonstrates? Why not be able to adopt? Is there something wrong with gays and lesbians as parents?

So please, quit your whining. When you fully understand what equality IS and what it means, THEN, and only then can you start complaining about something as superficial and insignificant as your "rant".

Not to get involved, but if someone is calling me a something in a derogatory manner, I don't care who or what they are, I'm probably going to be justifiably offended because they're calling me a name in the first place. :1 While I fully agree that LGBTQ people deserve the very same rights heterosexual people have I don't really think that is grounds for a free pass to use slurs just because. We shouldn't be continuing a cycle of animosity while in the process of gaining equal rights, which is what that justification looks like to me. I've always believed that it's not the words themselves but the feeling and the meanings and implications behind them that are harmful, and at the end of the day a slur meant as a slur is still hurtful and wrong. It doesn't matter who says it.

That said, I've actually heard "breeder" as a derogatory term thrown around more by the Childfree lot, honestly, and I'm sure a great deal of those people are heterosexual. :P

Please drop the breeder topic. Remember the rules of this thread - it's for venting steam, not arguing.

Next to that, can I have a good nights sleep, just for once? I'm sick of waking up and having a panic attack for NO reason.
