*bites lip* While running the risk of sounding ungrateful (heck, half of me is busy calling the other half unappreciative and spoiled!), I had been hoping for this. I clearly remember seeing some trogg in Gnomeregan with a tamed basilisk by his side, discovering that I myself can't tame basilisks once I reached Stranglethorn Vale, and concluding that I would need to pursue Beast Mastery in order to be able to tame one myself.

Well, the PTR has just barely come out! Don't give up now, I'm sure they'll be making plenty of changes between now and when 4.1 is released. I'm holding out for them too, since it looks like we'll be getting hydras.

This is a real gut-punch to me, to be honest
While I'm happy for the people who wanted Hydras, I've been posting on the forums ever since Vanilla, hoping Basilisks would be added as a famiy, or at worst, added to the Crocolisk family. When we finally had the big pet overhaul in WotLK, I finally though it was time, and yet, nothing
I mean, sure its nice to get stuff like the hydras, but the fact that something that wasn't even a beast until now is being made tamable before something that's not only a beast, not only was featured on the absolutely ancient WoW website as one of the special creatures we'd be fighting in Stranglethorn, and close enough to an existing pet to be slotted into an existing family, is a bit depressing
Seriously, I brought World of Warcraft because that absolutely ancient first website had Basilisks featured as monsters, and I just loved those lizards at first sight. But now, all these years later, still nothing. It gets a bit draining

Same here, but with stags (and to a lesser extent other stag-like beasts i.e talbuks, giraffes etc). Wanted them since vanilla. Though Hydras are awesome, stags would be even more awesome.
However, there is plenty of time in both this PTR and future content patches for both basilisks and stags to be made tameable. Hydras are a good start, they are the most wanted pet by alot of people, and this shows the WoW devs are willing to make new families for us. Gives me hope basilisks, stags and clefthooves (and maybe a few others) might be coming in the future.

they could easily put basilisks into the croc family and it kinda...fits in there too!
I wouldnt be suprised to see em becoming tameable sometime in the future. Though personaly id like to see the pterrordaxes tameable. They could toss em in the bat family and id be just as happy as long i got to tame one.

I'm also sad that basilisks aren't tamable still, but it is still early in the PTR, so who knows? Same goes for the other families we've been gunning for. Don't give up hope, guys!
