I just noticed the fire hawk mount on mmochapmion,but... Its back has spikes all along it. I'm guessing it'll be like vial of sands or something. Any other thoughts on this? I mean sitting on that would hurt...

That would hurt. O.o
Might be a transform thing, or that spine might be removed...
(Such an awesome mount though. *Drools* Too bad I'll never get it. xD Though hopefully I'll be able to get the flaming.)hyppogryph

I really hate it when they come out with this ubber cool mount that you can only get if you have no life and spend countless hours in a raid to to get the thing..

Same, Adam. Well, I know some raiders who have lives... But I just don't have the time, plain and simple. It's not like I'm not trying as hard!
Oh well, though, I don't think I can really change that. Hopefully the hyppogryph is from dailies.

I was under the impression we didn't know how this mount would be gotten yet. :S
I mean, yeah, there's a good chance it'll be a raid reward, but it's not set in stone just yet.
On topic, I really do like the look of these guys, although I see the mount needs a little work before being done. Good to see the protodake skeleton being used. Also good to see mounts other than dragons. >.>

Wow, those DO look amazing! Clearly you guys now know where I will be for the next month, until I give up on it from boredom.

People actully like these? Birds with a Proto Drake model with so many Graphic errors D:
If they do release these I hope they atleast fix the errors on them and I don't know maybe give them a working model base since Poto Drake doesn't suit them .... Then again making them fit in the armor would be nice to >.>

I like the way they look but I don't care for the animation of them so far.

OMG! They are using the Proto-Drake skeleton/animation!! Are they that lazy?? Can you just imagine how the thing will look with that "linp wing" animation. Also they need to fix its feet, it should stand on its toes, not have them up in they air like like they are broken.

Honestly, I think this mount is absolutely badass. I love the proto-drake skeleton, so now we get one on fire? EXCELLENT. Can't wait to find out how its obtained, seriously is awesome.
Though, for the people pointing out graphical errors, it's still early in the PTR. XD
And I guess I disagree with it being "lazy". I mean the game is full of Blizzard reusing skeletons. At least this mount is re-using an other-wise not overly recycled skeleton XD

Yes, some people do. :3
I mean, I freely admit that these errors need to be fixed. The tips of their wings clipping through the ground, for example. But it's the early PTR and this is a new, fairly graphics intesnive model. You kinda have to expect some errors to start with.
But the Protodrake model? I think it works perfectly. Then again, looking at the model, this doesn't look like a graceful bird of prey. This is more like a powerful, savage fire elemental, who's form happens to resemble some sort of bird.

Remember the star pony? They used the hippogryph skeleton and just twisted to front legs around sloppily and its "broken leg" animation is still there, also they haven't fixed the Troll Druid's back legs, they most likely won't until the next x-pack, like the old Tauren Druid cat form. If anyone remembers, the Tauren Druid cat shared the same skeleton as the NPC cats do, and there were major clipping/overlapping issues. Sharing skeletons is fine, but if the body doesn't fit on it, it breaks. I was hoping for an actual hawk flying animation, the Proto-Drake"limp wing" animation is perfect for the Proto-Drakes, but put on a graceful feathered bird thats wings aren't made to bend that way and it looks stupid. The Phoenix, gryphon, hippogryph and even the drake wing animations are closer to what it should be. Giving it the Raven Lord skeleton then modifying so it has the Phoenix flying animation (with larger body and wings to fit) would be much, much better. They have already broken the feet, maybe I should stop expecting actual animation from Blizzard's animators, and deal with the cut and paste they seem to be favoring. Just my opinion tho.

I've read from multiple sources, people saying "It's still in the ptr, things will change, why are you complaining?"
The number of times that people have said this about other graphical issues through out numerous prior PTRs/betas, and nothing happens, is to many to count. So if people are showing concern about it's poor graphical clipping and cut and paste animations, they have just concern imo.

Unfortunately your right, I'm betting they're never going to fix the feet or clipping because they are to busy............remind me again what they are doing? And don't say animating the NPCs in the new instances, they are already pre-existing models with pre-existing animations. The most they have to do is a few walk-cycles. Its not the fact that they're not going to fix it that bothers me, it's the fact that 12mil people play this game paying $15 a month plus all the other stuff people buy from the Blizzard Store and they can't pay or hire a few modelers/animators to fix things I could in 30min. As an animator this infuriates me!

lol
I didn't mean it like it wouldn't look better if it had a different skeleton, all I was saying is the game is full of recycled skeletons and thus I'm not surprised XD
Either way, I still think this mount is wicked. I totally want one!

Recycled skeletons are ok as long as they don't brake the mount. They broke this one.............poor thing and could have been the coolest mount EVER!

Its funny seeing people call it a "graceful feathered bird" when it :
A) does not look graceful
b) Has no feathers that can be seen at all and is made of fire
c) is more likely not a bird at all. Yes it may be called a fire bird but that does not mean it is one. I mean in game the Phoenix is not a bird at all yet it looks like one.
Just my 2 cents.

skeletons aside ... they could make it fit in the armor and you cant tell me off for saying this since it manages to do this but only on one side!
and as i said before i hope they fix it before it goes into the game so much broken stuff sneeks its way into the game ... ever since patch 4.0.6 my humans cant sit on rams .... well they can but they miss the saddle and end up on its bum D:

I hate to take this off topic, but do you realize that the majority of the people who are capable of getting those mounts that you said have "no life" actually do have lives? They have careers and families and money to go on vacations, etc. Please don't clump everyone together. It's all about levels of dedication.
I do understand what you're trying to get at - you don't have viable means of access to the cool looking mount. Since I don't raid anymore - I don't either. But I'm perfectly okay with that. As time goes, the content will become available to everyone. Look how everyone is going back and busting through old content to get the Ulduar and ICC drakes.
The Firehawk is a very awesome looking mount, if it is one of those raid achievement ones it is out of my reach - at least for now. HOPEFULLY, it'll be something like the Sandstone mount. I'd totally be all over that.
