Change for the Better:Discussing Character Looks since Alpha

There was a discussion of how the look for the Tauren female was changed after Alpha WoW. Curious since I only started playing WoW after it became a hit, I did a little googling and managed to find this
site which is an archive of an earlier WoW page. (The Home Page even asks for Beta Testers for what would eventually become good ol' vanilla WoW.) Glad to find it, as I eagerly looked for the picture of the tauren female once I found it, all I could say that changing them was a very, very, very, good idea.
Here's the screenshot of two tauren taken from the forementioned archive site. (Care to guess which is the female?)

And here's one of the trolls who also got a well deserved overhaul. (Again, care to guess which is the female?)

As you can tell, either by looking at these shots are popping over to the archived site, the people and places of Azeroth got quite a makeover. (which yeah, is still being made over thanks to exp.

) But these changes were definetly for the better.

Heh, I've seen those before and I have to say the old Female Troll was amazing....I wish they hadn't been revamped.

I'd much rather have the old version, it was a lot more accurate to how they should look.
I don't want her to be pretty. I want a feral, primal savage who can rip the throats out of her enemies.

Glad the female tauren changed. Although I kind of like the way the female trolls looked. lol
I have to say I love looking at some of these old screen shots on that site. =D
Summoning stone at crossroads?

Naturally. Crossroads is frequented by high-level allis often enough that it's a raid instance
(Also...post 600!)

You'd be surprised that there were summoning stones just about EVERYWHERE.
I think the rfk trick still works where you can if you have a gnome see what old thousand needles looked like.
Edit: I also approve more of the original females, but there were a few of the males even who got better models in release.

I definitely like the old female Troll model better than the currently existing one. They made them too lady-like with the sitting on knees sit animation and a pretty face. Of course there's only one pretty face but the rest look like their faces are melting off, which isn't at all right for Trolls either. So every female Troll tends to have the same face.
Bring back the old female Trolls!!
Oh, and please make Trolls eligible for the Warlock class. Come get da Voodoo!

I also like the original female trolls (although the female tauren did look rather manly...). Another thing that's always bothered me is, why do the males always hunch while the females stand perfectly upright? Orcs, trolls and tauren all have hunched males with femine, upright females. It just seems odd to me.
Although I do gotta say that I like the orc female posture, with their shoulders sort of held back and their chest puffed out...they look tough.

Whoa, did anyone else read the description for playing a Two Headed Ogre?
http://web.archive.org/web/200404051547 ... ogre.shtml
"By selecting the Two-headed Ogre race, you are selflessly choosing to share your existence in World of Warcraft with another player. That is, you are staking claim to one half of the Ogre whole. As a Two-headed Ogre, you will have control of one head and one arm at all times. Your other half will be controlled by a second player automatically and permanently paired with you upon character creation. Each player residing in the Ogre body will be free to choose his or her own character class at creation, so for example, it is possible to have a Two-headed Ogre who is half Mage and half Warrior. ... their starting zone will be located near the Crossroads, which resides in the Barrens region of Kalimdor. Sharing a single body with another player can produce an mutually enlightening, symbiotic relationship or a constricting, insanely frustrating experience depending on the player you are randomly matched with. Good luck to you! "
Kind of a neat idea, but at the same time I don't think I could share playing a character. >.>

I agree. Why the h.e.doublehockeysticks does every female have to be pretty? I think the Draenei are far too fab (given what the Forsaken looked like) as well.
When you analyse the Troll female, it is effectively the Night Elf female with altered hands, feet, head and the addition of slight saddlebags on the hips. I know that sounds like everything, but the height and body frame have always struck me as very similar. In fact, the few times I have had a go at playing a Troll, I've rolled it up to look at much like my NE as possible, just for the feeling of familiarity.

There is a theory that Night Elves evolved from Trolls and vice versa,
Wowhead: Origin of Races, but in all things Blizz just probably reused the same model for both but just tweaked the heads and hands and how they run.

rofl about the 2-headed orgres
Thunder bluff look changed i think
If you look at the page with classe description then you can see that hunter had:
Beast Soothe - Not every encounter with a beast is a friendly one, and Hunters can soothe ravenous animals whenever necessary.

Yeah, I think they gave druids a version of that move instead.
