Grrr sometimes you just want to pull your hair out

Ok sorry to vent here but i think i need to a little

I have been trying to get into raids recently, I'm not fussy which kind. No one will take me, Is it because of my gear no, Is it because they think i cannot play my hunter no, Is it because of my spec Hey there i have hit the nail right on the head there, Why does everyone think Bm Hunter is bad??? I can do the same amount of dps as a surv hunter i can beat Mm hunters in duels with ease and they say Bm hunters suck because we can't dps.
Why why why, I tired to get into Bwd a few minutes ago, Simple advert to the guy who was seeking

"BM hunter 349 Ilvl, skilled know all tacts am compitent in my class" All i got back was "No your bm" The guy didn't even bother to Inspect me, Which was a bad thing not to do, I may not be the best geared Hunter out there but i sure as hell know what i'm doing.
Why is there all this Hunter hatred recently? I joined a guild earlier, Soon as i joined they went would you be willing to change spec, I was honest in my answer i said "No i'm afraid not but if the situation required it with no alternitive i would be willing to consider it as i really enjoy BM" the reply i got was as follows " Lol noob bm hunters are the shittiest spec ever for hunters" "You have been removed from guild"
Any advice? I really don't want to change spec i love Bm, I have a bond with all my rare pets but most of all Loque'nahak, My Eriska comes with me everywhere i go, I even do the silliest thing i take her to sholazar basin and make out i'm letting her have a wash in the water area there, Silly i know but a bond is a bond, My hunter wouldn't feel the same without my Eriska purely because of that aformentioned bond.
Thanks for that guys the vent chilled me out a little and i'm glad this community on Petopia is here you guys make Hunter awsome, Whenever i'm feeling down i come here and read the posts for a little while and it's inevitable that a smile will creep back to my face one way or another while reading :)

Thanks Rob Gosling 19 - Xcturnus 85 Bm Hunter

Sorry for the long ranting post.

People don't stay up to date, I've found. They still think that BM is how it used to be back in WotLK, when it was still good but the others were typically seen as better. (Please don't hate me for that, WotLK BM raiders.)
Now, when they see BM, they think, "Low DPS Spec". They don't even realize that Surv isn't the OPness is was, and that MM is only a little better, and only if you can play MM.
I always comment on anti-BM trade channel rants, informing them of this, but it's hard to do. I suggest just not posting that you're BM when you advertise for raids, though. Then, often, they won't even notice.

that just sucks but like stated people still think is a fail hunter spec. That i remember, Bm has been dang near hated since the dawn of wow.. least on my old server D: it was " BM is fail and for lvlin only, change spec to raid or dont raid' thats how it went down on my old server, a firend i still talk to on that server says its still the same way D:

Hmmm, how about instead of pugging go on guild runs. I've always raided as BM with my little hunter (apart from when you need to change spec on certain fights like when your pet can't reach the bosses.)
Your guild should understand that you enjoy a certain spec, if not maybe look for a different guild.
Also update your spec to the top BM raiding specc (shown here) I've never mentioned I'm BM and when they have issue or notice I'm BM I point out to them I'm not bottom of the charts I've always been in the top 5 so they have no reason to complain :3

Really, best to not tell them you are BM. We have dual specs for a reason. As long as you don't pull out an exotic for a pug raid most people won't even care to inspect you.

Make sure you are hit capped (you are a bit low, reforge some haste or mastery to hit), enchant all your gear, and you need to slightly change your gemming around. Putting orange agi/crit gem in your yellow slots will give you a better dps output that yellow mastery gems you have. Same with blue sockets you can either go with purple agi/hit since you need the hit or straight red agi gems if you don't care for the socket bonus. Get a new trinket too; the spell power proc is useless for us.

Riiiiight...cuz I must be hallucinating when I out DPS Marks and Surv hunters. I love when I can go into a group or raid and show them just how to play the spec, but I hate that I have to "prove" myself in the first place. I am lucky to have a supportive guild <3

There is a lot of hunter hate, especially BM and as stated its a thought process that has its roots dug deep into vanilla WoW. A lot of people are rather ingnorant to the changes that hunters have undergone over the years, and in each expansion. Personally, I started in BC and have always been BM, even when it was a really low dps (compaired to the other two). If your lucky, try finding a guild that is maybe a casual raid guild, and doesnt mind what spec your in.

And when answering or looking for raid groups to join, just state your a hunter with a gear lv of_X_ and you do _X_dps. But dont state what spec you are. And when raiding, bring a pet that helps with the raid, or if you really want to use an exotic pet, try to hold off until the boss fight has started.

I'll have to agree with most others. A lot of people dont realize BM isnt 'the leveling spec' anymore.

As another Beast Master I get that reaction frequently as well. I practice a lot, I make an effort to always bring the right pets for the job, I manage my aggro, and I won't set foot in an instance without making certain I understand the important tactics. So I think I play pretty well, all things considered! My DPS isn't the best, but I only just became able to enter heroics, so I'm working on gear improvements. From memory I think I am averaging somewhat over 11,000 DPS in heroic randoms, which seems at least OK for my item level.

But I get made fun of pretty often. If a pull went wrong somehow, it's inevitably my pet's fault. If I'm getting stomped on the damage charts by people kitted out in purples, it's because I bought my character on eBay. If I lag behind a bit to loot corpses, it's because I was alt-tabbed reading how to play. I've mostly given up on defending myself. Much of the time, those accusatory people don't CARE how you are actually doing! It just makes them feel superior to put others down.

I try to ignore them, play my best, and maybe if all goes well I'll vindicate myself on the damage chart, or pull out some neat hunter trick that shows I'm not a wasted group slot. That's what I would recommend to other BM players as well. Try to stay civil, or at least put the worst offenders on /ignore, and focus on playing the best you can. It can feel VERY hard not to argue and defend yourself against the elitists, but again, even with the best arguments you're not likely to change their minds. If anything at all is going to work, showing visible skill will prove your worth.

In the worst case, when I get angry at a group of exceptionally nasty people... I deliberately live up to their worst expectations by keeping Aspect of the Pack on and fighting in melee with my staff unless Misdirecting to the healer, while my largest and most annoying pet goes on a rampage in aggressive stance. When everything goes chaotic, Feign Death and leave the group. I have only resorted to such bad behavior once or twice, with guild groups where I was the "fifth wheel" and getting put down constantly. Although I realize it surely gives other hunters a bad name, it can also be satisfying, if petty revenge.

The hell with people who don't like BM. It's your account, your $15/month. When they start paying for you to play, maybe then they can tell you what to do. Until then, they can shut the hell up, IMO.

PuGs are hit-and-miss. Some are just happy to find people willing to go with them, others are picky as hell. I think what you need to do is find a guild that appreciates all players, regardless of spec, and go on guild runs with them. If you can't find one, make one. Maybe start with some non-Cata raids to prove that you do, in fact, know what you're doing, and go from there.

I raid as BM, and usually do PuG raids, as my guild's really close-knit, but too small do more than overpowered 10-mans. If anyone complains about my spec, I tell them it's my account, my choice, and after the first few bosses they usually shut up. Or kick me. In that case, it wasn't worth my time raiding with them in the first place.
