Update: after going from suggestions and links from here and another friend, I found & decided upon the name Leviathan. Thanks guys!!

Right, so after waiting hours for someone who would actually let me TAME this pet during the quest, literally (thank you random dude named Clockwork), I managed to grab Gorebite. I have been enamored by his colors since I killed him during the quest originally, but I hadn't really gotten around to trying him.

So, here he is. But despite hours on my name generator and on the thesaurus, I can't quite find the right name for this fellow. I know the general *idea* I have in mind, though, so here's my brainstorming and maybe one of you creative folks can help me out!

Looking at the colors--bright violets and pinks, blushes, with the glowing red eyes--makes me think of something livid or lurid, sort of gleeful negative emotions. Wicked fury or demonic sort of grinning maliciousness, like a devil enjoying interfering in the plans of mortals and getting them to sign away their souls with a trick. The colors remind me of sinfulness, if that makes sense--like lust and temptation rolled into one, like red lights in the window in the bad part of town, like being lured in with the pinks and violet and being faced with the evil (those glowing red eyes and fangs!) afterward.

I want a word to capture this and I can't find it. The demonic or devilish theme is prominent so maybe the name of a devil/demon? I don't know much about mythology offhand, though!

Any suggestions?

How about "Avarice?"

I actually have that one on my list, but it doesn't seem... SINFUL enough! Evil enough, if that makes sense?

I have pets named Malice and Chaos or I'd use one of those, perhaps, too

Haha, the depiction you painted is very similar to my own first impressions of the model as well. I ended naming my purple croc Aleister (after Aleister Crowley of course), since it had the right sinister mood to it.

I'll try to brainstorm some more for you, but right now I'm drawing a blank for more name suggestions.

Ha, I remember when I first saw it, the first thing I thought was "someone clearly designed that for Vephriel" >.<

But yeah, all those impressions... This croc is like... a gothic horror movie personality o.o

I named mine Crocosaurus becouse he was big and scary XD maybe something like that?

I want to say Jack the Ripper but the name Jack on its own is a little...bland.

Hmm, on that tangent perhaps try looking up names of famous serial killers, there might be something there that stands out for you.

I named my Croc (Mahamba) Sebek. Its just off the Crocodille Egyptian God. I recommend that because thats what I did, and I'm generally right about things

That guy was nuts. I think he's what the movies SAW were based on. He had a hotel at the worlds fair, and would lock people in rooms and gas them to watch them suffer and other bad things etc. Would kill his lovers, employees, and whomever was unlucky enough to go in.

Interestingly, someone else recommended the same name--I asked a friend who's into metal, since he's usually got some cool dark themes he can throw at me... Apparently some very dark Egyptian-themed band has a song called Sacrifice Unto Sebek, lyrics linked. Various songs from them mention him with phrases like "lord of the dark marshes" and "dark bitter waters" and whatnot

I kept on looking at songs that my friend linked after seeing the Sebek reference both in a song and posted here! Found the word Leviathan in one of them

So, a giant sea monster that represents temptation and a gate into Hell? How could it be more perfect!?

Leviathan the sea-monster, with Behemoth the land-monster and Ziz the air-monster. ...Did I mention that my Core Hound Chromaggus is named Behemoth?

Awesome choice Acherontia. I agree, it's perfect!

Leviathan is a good name! Its allso one of the main Tyranid hive fleets and that means its cool! They are all named after big myth things like that.

Does he drop any engineering mats when skinned?

Lol not that I know of ^^ "Kill croc, get Mechano-hog mats" isn't something I've heard of

I'm assuming this was a reference to Flame Leviathan? Took me a couple times reading it, but I think that's what you were aiming for.
