The Alt-aholism is strong

I have been trying to resist the Call of the Alt and focusing on getting Rae to 85. And yet the higher I go the more I'm feeling the pull......

"I've never tried a preist that might be fun.
"Maybe I'd do better with a mage now that Cata is here.
"I wonder if the Draenai starting zone has changed

Argh. Stop me someone before I alt!!

To answer one of your questions: No, the draenei area has not changed, and neither has the blood elf one. Because they're considered "newer" BC content, Blizzard didn't touch them.

As to whether or not to make an alt, I can't say. I have almost three servers full of toons. >_>

Yeah, I'd say go ahead and make an alt, just because they're so fun. I have... a lot of alts...

I just deleted one low-level alt so that I could make another that struck my fancy (dwarf mage this time). I *love* my alts. It's really great to experience different types of roles and combat styles, and well, bottom line is that the game is about having fun. If that means playing alts, then do so. :)

Pfft... amateur. :P

I have to delete characters in order to make new characters nowadays.

Sucks when you don't want to lose the character or name on a certain server, but you are dying to make a new character on another server.

I find leveling as a holy priest is fairly amusing.
I'm also having fun leveling my mage as arcane.

OK, rolled up a priest .... took her to lvl 6, she's died 2x already. :(
I'll give the mage a try next & see what happens.

Same problem here :) I can't level my alts too much because after 20-30 levels I want to try another one :P
Now I'm really trying to focus on my Tauren Priest, my Orc Mage and later on my Worgen DK.

*checks character list*

I've got:
  • 85 BM hunter.
  • 85 fury warrior who I started in Wrath because I was bored of my hunter. :P
  • 37 sub rogue.
  • 69 feral/resto druid.
  • 58 frost mage.
  • 30-something resto shaman.
And on Nesingwary I have:
  • 41 BM Hunter.
  • 6 soon-to-be Shadow/Disc priest with an awesome name.
  • 1 lock who I really want to level...but haven't yet.
My altohism is limited by the starter areas. I did most if not all of them to get Seeker on my main, so doing the troll starter zone for both my priest and warlock is dull and slooooow. I'm not entirely sure how I ended up with so many orcs(hunter, mage, rogue) or tauren(druid, other hunter, warrior*) because of this. I also get hit pretty bad around the 'teens because everything is so slow and I can't jump on my hippogryph and zoom to the next quest zone. The pain is lessened by things like sprint/dash/cheetah form/blink and the aspects, but you don't get those as quickly as the others I think. That and on my hunter, I've really come to enjoy the strolls through the countryside, looking for things to tame.

I hadn't seen the changed Barrens on my mage and thought Razor Hill was boring, so I ran him out to Tirisfal. I might move my Priest over to Eversong and level her that way.

I do have those urges though. I deleted a 55 shadow/disc priest out of stupidity(I wonder if I can petition to get her back?) so I rolled Sigh to get her back, but the fact that I'm missing the cool things I liked about the priest class = kinda slowing me down. I'll be on my hunter and be like "Man I wish I could heal!".

*was a faction change from a Night Elf...so she doesn't count!

I made a baby Undead Hunter on a new realm last weekend too, and she's now 48. <.<' Okay she has the 10% xp boost from the guild she's in, but zero heirlooms. Also in the process she's made 2k gold. Wish I was that productive with my mains.

Apart from that I have four level 85s: BM Hunter, Holy Priest, Feral Druid and Enhancement/Restoration Shaman. I also have a level 82 Mage, and on another server a 80 Hunter I'm hoping to bring to the cap one day. A Warrior and a DK are the only classes I've never played for more than 20 levels, others I've leveled to at least 46.

Edit: Alt's 56, and I'm hoping to ding her 58 tonight. XD

Alts are one heck of a fun time. Load them down with some starter greens, 16-slot bags, and gold, and watch them fly!

You're in good company here.

I have the full 10 toons on my main server, Alterac Mountains, as well as two each on Maelstrom and Nesingwary.

On Alterac:

Cerah - My main. lvl 85 Orc BM Hunter. Professions: Skinning and Leatherworking
Emielee - lvl 84 Forsaken Demo Warlock. Tailoring and Skinning
Taysha - lvl 82 Troll Fire Mage. Mining and Jewelcrafting.
Bessey - lvl 77 Tauren Bal/Resto Druid. Herbalism and Alchemy. Active Archeologist
Lighthope - lvl 72 Blood Elf Prot Paladin. Herbalism and Inscription
Meggera - lvl 71 Orc Unholy Death Knight. Enchanting and Blacksmithing. Technically my Bank alt.
Lydeea - lvl 52 Forsaken Suv Hunter. Skinning and Herbalism. Alt. Hunter (for the pets Cerah can't tame)
Fateflare - lvl 43 Blood Elf Sub Rogue. Mining and Engineering. Active Archeologist
Trixzie - lvl 25 Goblin Enh Shaman. Mining and Engineering (Again, because Engineering's fun!)
Soffi - lvl 23 Draenei Holy Paladin. Mining and Jewelcrafting

Out of those, Soffi's the only alliance toon (I made her to hang out with my bf's Draenei Hunter), and Fateflare's the only guy -- the rest of my toons are all female. I like to RP with my boyfriend as well (even though Alterac's not an RP server, it's PvP), so almost all my toons are connected to his in one way or another, making for one fun, though confusing to outsiders WoW soap opera.

For example, Cerah is married to my bf's Troll Hunter, Seabaston. His main, Anyetah, a Troll Ice mage, is Cerah's sister-in-law. Taysha is Cerah's and Seabaston's half-Troll, half-Orc daughter, who apprenticed under Anyetah, whom she calls "Auntie-Master".

I think that officially qualifies me to work for the Young and the Restless' writing staff :P

On Maelstrom, I have Cielle, a lvl 35 Night Elf Shadow/Holy Priest (Enchanting/Tailoring), and Leata, lvl 30 Dwarf MM Hunter (Mining/Engineering - Archeology). I wanted Maelstrom to be my "Alliance" server, though since my bf recently transferred his Troll Shaman over there, I'm going to make a Horde character there too.

On Nesingwary, I have Toeph, my lvl 32 Tauren Suv Hunter (Herbalism/Alchemy), and her best friend Reila, a lvl 6 Troll Druid, both in <Petopians>. Quite a few months after making her, my bf and I decided that Toeph is the daughter of my Alterac Mtns. Druid, Bessey, and my bf's Feral Druid, Moofius

Another fun way to play with alts is make them literally an alternate version of a toon you already have. For example, I used to have a Human Mage version of Emielee, my Forsaken, and said it was her before she died. My bf has both a Paladin and Death Knight version of his toon, Endsong (DK's called Lastsong), and his Shaman is Anyetah, after a "career change".

Alts are fun. You can create whole stories around all your different toons, and they keep the game from getting boring, and have pretty much every profession covered if you have enough of them. I just wish Blizz would up the number of toons we can have per server, or at least give us a way to send stuff like heirloom items across servers.
