So I got a Arizona Stripe Tail Scorpion the other day, he's pretty neat. Looks exactly like this:
He doesn't have a name yet though. They're really neat creatures I think.

I've noticed he sometimes does the scorpion idle animation, the two claws in the air type thing.

I like the way the emperor scorpions look (although I'm too terrified to own one), but your guy looks pretty cool too. If you get a chance, you should post some pics of him once you've got him all set up in his cage. ^_^
As for names, someone on MMO-C named their emp scorpion Vin Diesel which I thought was kind of amusing. Madexx is a good nerdy name.

I named my in game scorpion Reginald...I'd probably name a real life one that as well. >_>

Oooh, lovely! Scorpions are fascinating creatures and really amazing to have as pets. I used to have an emperor scorpion years and years ago, I wouldn't mind getting another some day.

I've been calling him Johnny like Johnny Cade from The Outsiders. Just because I had a leather jacket on when I bought him; and I'm a fan of the line:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cvLBiQJEH4 at the end when Dallas says Do it for Johnny!
However don't know if that name will stick or not.

<3 The Outsiders. Not a bad naming choice either. Looking forward to seeing what you decide upon. ^_^

I think I'm stickin with Johnny. But now I need a theme for his aquarium. He currently has Eco Earth stuff as his bedding type things, was thinking maybe I'd get him some sand and make him a pyramid and put it in there.

A pyramid sounds neat. Would he be able to climb on/in it? I think that would be kind of cool.

You could definitely build upon an Egyptian theme with aquarium decor pieces.

Yeah I'll probably just do something like a little pyramid, and then maybe a couple obelisks or something of that nature. Might hollow out the pyramid or something so that he can go inside rather than having to bury himself during the day.
If only I had the time and tools I could build him something grand like:
Hatshepsuts tomb, all the little gaps are statues of herself O_O. But alas that would take some serious time and skill.

Can he still sting you ?

Most pet scorpions retain the ability to sting, yes. They're not exactly something that you take out and handle a lot, they're to observe and care for predominantly.

Wow, that would be incredibly time consuming. O_O Very cool though.
Edit: That's in reference to the pic Moore posted. Also, isn't there something to the effect of the fatter the scorpion's claws are, the less venomous its sting is? I know I've seen pics of people handing emperor scorpions, although I do see them, like tarantulas (in my mind) as being more of a pet you admire and care for than one you handle all the time.

I've heard that and color, lighter color being more poisonous had a bit of a tough time deciphering wether he was an Arizona bark (most poisonous in NA) or stripe tail

.
What amazed me is that they arent the quick stinging type; as in they take the time to clamp prey, and unfold the tail, one strike and pull its tail back all in a sort of thought out manner, where as a wasp sting is noormally done very quickly.

Where did you get him? :O I would be terrified of him, lol. I wouldn't mind observing one that wasn't in my house!

Got him at a pet store, was trying to decide between a tarantula and a scorpion when I picked him up in his little enclosure he immediately tensed up and got in a defensive pose, so I decided to buy him.
Alsotip:
Most scorpions glow if you put a black light on them:
Like that.

Also had another idea, need to get a bigger version of this picture:
http://www.smileforcamera.com/wp-conten ... rillex.jpg
Get a black light, and some different colored glow sticks and turn his cage into a mini-rave. o_o
Also otherstory:
When I was trying to find out what type of scorpion he was, I called the same pet store and the guy replies:
"Uh I dunno"
And I was like well he looks awful similar to a Bark Scorpion and those are kinda dangerous...
"Well I don't think we'd uh sell anything like that, you could like, check online and see what it is"
Thanks man...
So these people are selling scorpions that they don't know what are. Which I think is kind of stupid, considering someone could buy one and then get stung and lose the use of their hand or wherever they got stung for up to 72 hours, not to mention pain if it were a bark scorpion.
Also yes mine still his stinger, I don't handle him at all, I wouldn't ever really want to even try to hold him just because I don't feel like getting stung. I'd probably recommend leaving the handling of a scorpion to someone more experienced than myself who knows what they're doing.
