Apparently some idiot who decided to use a bot to level archaeology got banned... and is now offering $1000 to any GM via Craigslist [the ad has since been removed] to "unban" him. He says the GM would remain anonymous... wut. If you care THAT much about your WoW account maybe you shouldn't have botted in the first place??
"I got my WoW account banned yesterday during the archaeology bot ban wave. I wasn't a gold farmer or seller, never bought gold. I just botted archaeology because it's a boring profession. I'm looking for a WoW Account Admin [...] to unban my account for $1000USD. No questions asked - your anonymity will be preserved."
Yes. Archaeology can be extremely boring... but did he stop to think he might get banned for botting? He should have weighed out the pros and cons of this idea. Jeeze.

He knew botting was against tos when he did it. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. What a moron.

I would be shocked if GMs are capable of acting anonymously, as far as Blizzard is concerned. No one's going to go for it, because they know that they would be fired, the account banned again, and probably wouldn't get the money anyways since the account wouldn't be unbanned for very long.

maybe he's hoping for a GM already on their way out. thing is that he can simply get re-banned right away if its found out.
probably some rich-stuck up idiot. he also probably buys gold online 200,000g at a time on his daddys credit card

Even if a GM working for Blizzard was simply working the last bit of their two weeks' notice before leaving the company...would you really risk a good recommendation from one of the better gaming companies in America for a grand or so? The payoff is not worth the consequences to that hypothetical GM. Permanently screwing up one's career for the benefit of one cheating so-and-so with an entitlement complex is not a fair tradeoff.
I don't think he'll find a taker. Especially since all interactions on those GM accounts are logged and monitored. Blizzard would know exactly who did what and when.

The sad part is, I can understand to 100% why he'd bot Archeology.

This.
If anything in this game would drive me to violating the TOS, it would be Archaeology. I currently am sitting at 17 of 20 rares to my "Professor" title on my rogue and am so sick of digging countless fossil, troll, and Night Elf (which I have completed save Zin'Rokh) sites for hours on end while seeing hardly any of the other digsites spawn. I've given up till the new patch hits, and pray that Blizz fixes things to make this grind somewhat less onerous.

As good a reason as any I would say. Archaeology doesn't offer any serious advantages over those who don't have it so you don't need to feel bad about botting it, and, it
is boring as all hell to do manually. I prefer in-game fishing for crying out loud! It's like they've taken all the travel time from Classic and stuffed it into a profession and tried to stick a label on it saying "fun", hoping that some will fall for it. >.<

The thing is, you just said it right there....Archaeology doesnt offer any serious advantages over those who dont have it. So *WHY* would you feel the need to cheat? Just *DONT* do it if you dont want to, specially if it doesnt give you any advantages that you want or care for. Thats no reason to cheat at all.

As Saturo said, she can understand why he would bot, but she's not recommending or approving it, just understands his reasoning in regards to the frustrations with archeology. It can be a horrible game of RNG, and can frustrate the best of us.
I personally don't recommend botting for any reason what so ever, in fact I actively report them when and where I can, they really do ruin the economy. And botting is botting, in any form it's not the right choice to make.
I also think this gentlemen is a bit of a goose advertising the fact that he has been caught and will to pay cash to a GM to restore his account, a very silly goose
Its called consequence, and normally it compliments your actions.

I cant really act like I havent had my own frustration with Archeology..Ive leveled mine to about 450-ish now. So far all I got...was a Mini Pet, the Draenei Teleporter, and the Wind Chimes. Thats *IT* >.<;;
