Hydra Sketch [w.i.p.]

I've been trying to get back into drawing after a long stale period, and I figured something WoW related would be a good candidate for inspiration.

Since I've been itching for Hydras to be tameable since forever ago, I thought I'd do my own rendition of them.

This is very much a work in progress...the body is actually sketched out too, but it's very light and messy, so I just focused on scanning the initial inking parts. I'm strange when it comes to my artwork, I usually can't sketch an entire piece and then ink it at the end...once I'm happy with a certain portion I'll ink it right away to 'solidify' it and urge me to continue.

Anyways, here's how he's coming along so far. :) Poor guy's been sitting like this for a while now, I really have to try to finish him. xD

Very nice and clean inkwork, you use a calligraphy pen?

If I might suggest, the neck on the lil'guy in the back looks a bit long, and his strict overhead profile makes him look really rigid.

Wow! It looks awesome. I love your style and the varying line thickness.

Thanks everyone. ^^ I'm hoping that posting it here will motivate me to complete him. :)

*nods at Fafnir* Yeah, the third head in the back isn't finalized, I was trying a bunch of different angles and then just put something there as a presence. I'll be redoing that one. :3 For inking I have a set of Faber-Castell black pens.

It's good!.
If you do choose to colour him its going to be a bitch if you don't fill in those lines on the fins XD I'd recomend not doing it in ink though maybe lightly in penciel so you can easyly colour over it in photoshop/toon boom animate pro. But keep up with the ink work! Ink work allways look 10X better than non ink stuff.

And useing something you like as inspiration to get back into drawing is one of the best ways and it's a wonderfull way to get better aswell. Trust me I should know lol
