What weapon do you guys prefer for your hunter(s)?

For me, it can vary based on my hunter's personality, but generally I tend to favor the guns. I'm sort of the tomboyish sort anyway, and enjoy my FPS games from time to time, so it's sort of natural for me to crave a boomstick. Bows are cool and all, but they just don't have that gratifying BANG to them. My brother says he prefers bows because he views his hunters as more of the wise and quiet type. I'm the type of hunter with a giant devilsaur companion and a big gun to match. Mess with either of us and you're liable to have a hole shot through you (after Apollyon has some "fun" with you, of course).

Sadly, I had to trade in my beloved gun for a bow, because it was a rather large upgrade. I miss my gun.

Bow > crossbow > gun

I like the sound of guns, it makes it feel like I'm doing more damage somehow...
I hate the bow sounds, but their animations are ok, I guess. Crossbows are wannabe guns, so no thanks.

I used to use crossbows almost exclusively because they hit so much harder than bows. Back then (pre-Kara) guns weren't as prevalent as they became later on. I thought I'd never like using a gun, but once I equipped the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28581, I was hooked.

On winning that gun, I installed a mod called "Silencer Now", which permanently altered the "bang bang" to a non-jarring pew-pew noise. I've never had to re-install the mod, btw.

I have a thing for archers using longbows. XD Plus the other options are just plain and boring.

Bow > Gun > Crossbow.

Bows are nice and quiet, but I've always had a thing for Guns. Sadly, the Blood Elf female doesn't have a cool gun animation like the male does. :<

I used to hate guns.

I thought their sounds were loud and annoying, and I'd predominantly only had a bow. Anyways, this all changed the first time I ran Karazhan on Vephriel. We had the Little Red Riding Hood event, and then the [Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle] dropped. It was amazingly better than the bow I had equipped at the time, but I hesitated because I didn't like guns. My friends told me to just take it, so I did and went to learn the skill. I headed off to Netherstorm to boost up my gun skill on Dr. Boom.

After a while I realized how awesome it was, and from that day on Veph has been using nothing but guns. xD I love them, and I've honestly come to enjoy their noises. They just sound so powerful.

It definitely depends on the character though. My Troll hunter has a bow as it's much more fitting.

Bows, then Crossbows and i resort to guns if i really can't get a bow/crossbow. In a game like WoW, guns don't really seem to fit. That's just my opinion though.

I prefer bows personally. I really used to loathe the gun sound (it's just so annoying!) but I've gotten used to it to the point when I can use a gun if it has better stats. In fact, my main hunter just started using the Zombie Sweeper Shotgun rep reward from AC just because it's the best I've had access to at the moment. But if I was given a choice between a gun and a bow with the same stats, I'd go bow every time.

I like crossbows, but they're so hard to FIND in the beginning of the game, and by the end they just don't seem to have as much oomph as the bows or the guns.

I prefer whichever one does the most DPS!

Ideally though, I'd prefer to have a bow as my Hunter is a Troll so the +1% crit bonus is very nice.

I disagree. The BIS end-game (PVE) ranged weapons are always crossbows as they are race-neutral (ie not guns nor bows so as to favour Dwarves or Trolls, respectively).

I've always been a bow girl myself. It just seems to fit better with my image of a Hunter.
I used to hate the gun noise too, and avoided using them as much as possible. But, I finally had to change over to the [Nesingwary 400], for the stat boost it had. I actually got used to the sound pretty fast, and it didn't bug me anymore. So, I'm willing to use anything now, it's just the ammo change that bugs me still...

Yet the only Legendary ranged weapon is a bow. Not to mention all the ahrdmode ICC drops. Also bows. Guns are also featured heavily in endgame. I think it's just non-raid endgame weapons that are crossbows, as I arely see them drop in the raids.

But I meant more in terms of animation, not stats XD The bow looks sleek and deadly, the gun is loud but powerful...the crossbow just seems kinda cumbersome. My rogue has the epic one that drops from heroic UK and it's cool looking at first, but then I wonder why he would want to carry such a huge, spiny thing around all the time. The recoil alone could potentially injure him!

Just curious (and please don't take this as me picking on you ), does that mean you also feel that things like crafted bombs, goblin shredders, roflcopters, choppers, gunships, siege tanks, etc. etc. don't fit in WoW, either? I mean, the guns in this game are no more outlandish than a cow riding a motorcycle.

I did recently discover that a gun drops in one of the Icecrown 5-man instances, if it drops I will most likely take it, provided it isn't an upgrade for someone else (since it'd only be a sidegrade for me). Hope I get it!!! <3

I love the gun booming, but my hunter's a draenei, and she started with crossbows, so I like them the best. They're unorthodox and use the neat female draenei gun-loading animation.

Crossbow > Gun > Bow

=D I've always been a fan of crossbows. Which is why I'm always a little bummed while leveling a new hunter. There's so few low levels crossbows from what I've seen.

I went bow. I've always gone bow, seeing as my first hunter was a night elf and they start with them. I really don't like guns. It just doesn't fit with my night elf. I can see my blood elf with a gun though. And crossbows are a good general roundabout route. They're okay.
