Well, as some of you know, I'm seemingly addicted to hunting rares. Apart from all the rare pets and spirit beasts, and a major 2week long camp for a green Madexx, I found myself two Time-Lost drakes and a Mysterious camel figurine before switching back to my routine of checking areas for rares that were up, and rehoming them, if they were tamable. After having a Sambas killed in front of my nose because I didn't check if the person that replied to my "Does anyone want Sambas?" question wasn't a hunter but a rude, immature shaman, I decided to go and camp something for myself again. That was, Aeonaxx.

I got pretty much all my information from aeonaxxresource.com, a true gem of a site. Looking at how long some people were camping, or at how close Aeonaxx got snatched by someone else in front of their nose, I thought it would take me weeks and weeks of utter hardcore camping to find him. Last night, the night of server restarts, I wasn't raiding like usually on Tuesdays because I was extremely tired, and having the joy of playing on a laptop, I had the laptop on a table next to my bed while I continued reading my crime story and waiting for npcscan to go off. I removed Xariona and Blood Seeker from them, so I'd know it was the real thing. In fact, two days ago, Blood Seeker caused an alarm and I nearly got a heart attack. There's just so much that can go wrong, that I really considered giving up very soon.

So last night, I was at my 44:49 spot, like many days and nights since I started camping, and was convinced it was just another uneventful night. Usualy there's not many campers on my server, but around midnight and general raid end time it felt like the temple in Deepholm was a beehive, players zooming past left and right, hoping to see the drake before reset. I finally left wow running, switched off my screen and tried to fall asleep, setting my alarm to 15 mins before server reset. At 01:07, Npcscan went off. I shot up, switched the screen on, and Aeonaxx was gracefully flying at NW2. I flew over, mounted, and enjoyed the ride. I forgot to set my fps back up, that I set on maximum 10, so the cpu doesn't have to work hard when running for a long time, and I wish I'd taken a pre-mount screenshot. There was noone in Deepholm. Absolutely no soul. I flew a few circles, still a bit in trance from waking up, and Aeonaxx being there, it was hard to believe. The whelps spawned quite infrequently, and a mangle killed them off. After the intial panic of mounting I enjoyed it as much as I was looking forward to. In full 359 gear, Aeonaxx was no issue at all.

I know that after not even camping for a week, I don't deserve to find Aeonaxx, and especially not seeing as a fellow camper on the server has been here for 3 weeks.
I hope to see him again, this time for some nice screenshots and a happy certain horde bloodelf to find him, and would love to help out with the camp.

I don't really have a log. I saw Blood Seeker last week before I started my hunt, and again two days ago at NW1 (10.04, 20:18) Then nothing till tonight. I camped as much as I could during the days and nights, and really really didn't expect such a quick, quiet ending.

And dont say you dont server it *hugs* you camped for it, you were up later then everyone so you deserve it! I mean for me Saon is the one who is parked in Deepholm and inbetween bgs (I know.. I know its not "camping" but I dont have the patience to actually camp ) has missed him a few times, left a bg early to switch to Sas and bang there he was.. little to no camping on her so... it just goes to say no matter what its the right time, right place

I don't understand how people can have Aeonaxx on multiple characters, it seems like such a horrendously difficult rare to find, granted I'm trying to do that right now, but wow, so much camping. I've done it for Sambas, and the spirit beasts, but this may be a breaking point for me.

What server are you on? I'll make a character to see your mount I've been hunting Aeonaxx for almost a week now...just a glimpse of it would be nice...

Shes on Steamwheedle but if your on a US server, I also have the mount on my main on icecrown server.
