So, my guild leader and I were good friends, and suddenly I get a letter from her saying how she's not gonna play for awhile, and how she's going to make me leader along with another person.

Now, I ran my own guild once, and I was very good at the following:
-Organizing the bank and keeping it stocked
-Recruiting
-Being helpful to low levels
-Creating a guild website

Here are the things I'm horrible at, as I hardly ever do Vent (my microphone makes me sound like either a guy, or a mouse, either way I adjust it -.-) and I've never been on a raid bfore.
-Setting up events (raids, dungeons, etc.)
-DOING events
-Getting and using Vent
-Thinks related to those above

I can use any tips!!! I don't want to get her guild of over 300 very friendly people into a bunch of slobs!

Well, the guild leader doesn't have to be in charge of organizing raids; in my guild, one of our officers has taken on that responsibility. He's the more outspoken one, while the GL is very soft-spoken; those qualities lend themselves quite nicely to their roles, and they know how to work as a team.

Ok, but I need a friend then, who's experienced with raids and will be reliable. Hmm I think I know just the person...

Yep, that's the idea; the two guys I was talking about are also good friends, and it's the trust between them that makes it work.

As for Vent, maybe try buying a quality external microphone?

Hehe, yeah, one time I tried Vent my microphone made me sound funny, and they were like "Uhh... dude, do you have a sore throat?" XD

You may want to make sure the plugs are correct, I am not sure if Vent has this but there should be a way to test your feedback and hear your own voice.

O_O I just found out the *real* (as in real with game features, we don't consider him GL but his ranking is marked as so), never really left. He's only a level 30-something rogue (38 I think?), and he hasn't been on in months.
Old guild members who remembered him said that he was crazy, he would randomly demote/promote people with no reason what-so-ever, gkick randomly, invite people he just picked off the streets without asking or anything, he'd take stuff from the bank or put things in it, and he'd take/give the most unlikely thing he'd need, like some dumb gray-worded item etc.
Also he sometimes called out in guild chat crazy things, although nobody told me what, and he'd do other weird things. Then he left the game for over 6 months, but before he left he vowed that when the guild reached level 25 he would come and disband it.

After that, my friend kind of took up leadership, a huge amount of people left (probably thinking "What the hell kind of guild is this?!"), and new people were invited until only a very small amount of original members were left. OMG, I know I was like "You guys arent jking with me... right?" but my friend told me yes, and then I checked and- sure enough- he was still GL.

And then, yesterday, I checked again to see when he was last online.


It said, 1 hour ago.

Damn! If he was still showing as having last been online >6 months ago, then I'm certain that you could have him removed from his position. I'm pretty sure that Blizzard will demote a guild leader if the right person asks (I wouldn't know who they would deem to be qualified, although I imagine that you would have to be a guild officer), and the GL in question has either quit or stopped playing on characters in that guild (that is, effectively abandoned the guild, and for a while).

Now, I don't know what you should do. If this were before Cataclysm released, then I'm sure the response would be for you to leave the guild and form a new one. So, maybe you should try to get him removed anyways.

Yeah, it's just kind of... weird. >.> I mean, it reminds me somehow of one of those creepy stories you hear off the web or from your friend when you were in middle school ^_^
Re-forming the guild's a good idea, the only problem would be we're already level 10 and me and two other people farmed deeprun tram rats for hours each day to get the Critter Kill Squad achieve, so we could get the armadillo pet.
I just never imagined this... O_o;;

EDIT: Also, I've noticed the last couple of days, a bunch of people have dropped out from the guild. Before we had about 300-310 members, now we only have 285... it makes me wonder if something happened O_O

You should be able to see in the activity log whether they left or were kicked (and by whom in that case).
