Hey all, my first post here /wave

I was wondering what kind of pets you guys think go well with dwarven hunters? I've had a phase lately where I can't seem to settle on one pet that really 'fits', and I'm not sure why! I have been leaning towards my Pogeyan lately, I think because of the colours - vibrant orange/yellow with red eyes, it feels very Ironforge-y Been pondering picking up one of the red Raptors too for the same reason.

I like bears and dwarves too, thanks to the dwarven hunter in the Vanilla WoW trailer So when I have the opportunity to go BM, I like to bust my Bubba out (Arcturis)! I also recently tamed a boar who I named Bacon, and I think it looks really cute scurrying alongside my dwarf.

WHich pets and colour combinations do you guys think work well with dwarves?

Armored Boars! Boars are just awesome, and if anyone would forge armor for their pets, it would be dwarves.

Onward! Next, we have Birds of Prey. Dwarves seem to have a strong affinity for their eagles, and even some owls.

About as close to a gryphon as you can get
Mount of choice for the Frostborn dwarves. I really wish we could own one as a mount; I occasionally do the Frostborn daily just to get a chance to ride one of their birds into battle.

If your dwarf is aligned with Moira and the Dark Iron still loyal to her, then perhaps you could get one of their pets:


Finally, this is a bit of a stretch, but given the Earthen roots of dwarves and their strong mining tradition, as well as the tendency of the Dark Iron to use stone golems, you could try:
Shale Spiders (in Ironforge colors)!

Don't forget bears! Dwarves are definitely bear-types. They even start out with one in the beginning, and honestly a bear feels very... 'dwarf' for lack of better term. Stocky, grumpy, short...

Always bears. I know it is cliche but bears are just amazing with them. I also agree with Boars and I'd like to throw in Turtles. But I'm a big Turtle fan so that may be bias talking.

Heh, Cialbi without a turtle - is that possible?

I love the bear idea.

I think Rhinos look nice with Dwarves.
Also the Northrend Worg somehow match them I find.

My dwarf hunter REALLY goes very nice with the black&white striped Sabercats (aka the night elf beginning pet)

I cannot express enough love for the awesome combination of Dwarves and Wolves. Even the stumble-runnign Dire Wolves and Saber Worgs look good by my dwarf's side. But I've always had a softspot for the plain old wolf models, so I'll recommend them.
Jormungar Worms also look pretty fantastic. I have a fondness for the green skin, but most of the jormungar colours work well too.
Special shout out for dwarves and Frostsaber Pride Watchers.
I kind of have to admit, not much doesn't look good running by a dwarf. I ran around with a red outlands raptor for a while, that looked pretty spectacular.

Personally, I say turtles. They complement the succulent dwarf-venison quite nicely, without the sinewy flavor most other pets have.

For dwarves, I say bears, boars and worms for tenacity pets, fox and wolves for ferocity and monkeys and sporebats (and maybe eagles) for cunning.

They have such character! And do seem to go very well with a dwarf, wish I had tamed one earlier I like the suggestion of an armored boar too; I tamed Bacon a few days ago, but might consider upgrading his armor soon

The opinion seems to be unanimous on bears I spent weeks camping Arcturis because I knew he'd make such a perfect companion for Flo, and they go so well together now

Imo, Dwarves (stereotypically) are very no-nonsense, get-things-done type people, so I personally would stay away from any flashy, overly colourful/bright or "unusual" pets (like Aotona or sporebats). Everyone has already said bears XD and I love the idea of boars (armoured even!) with Dwarves... Here are a couple of others that came to mind:


Brown is a very plain colour. I think if you had roleplay behind your Dwarf and she was more of the gryphon side of things/Wildhammer/etc, an eagle or owl would match beautifully. The light brown or black owls would be nice too.


What better a pet who's a moving molten lava accessory? Smelt some iron, lass. *shifty eyes*


Black, white or grey versions of this Worg model I think would suit a dorf beautifully ^^ The other wolf models not so much (worgs are so grand and srsface all the time, the others are much more puppyish... of course, would depend on her character).


Finally this was the last one that came to mind. Personally I'm not a very Dwarf+Raptor person but I could definitely see a Dwarf and something bigger, stronger and, uh, "heavier" like a Devilsaur

Don't forget about black-on-white spotted saber cats. Snow leopards! And most big, stocky worgs, I think.

I decided to get my wolf out of the stable after all of these suggestions - he's been stabled for quite some time; I think I had some "wolf burnout" going on after having to use one for so long in Wrath >.< After doing some TB dailies together, they have been reacquainted! I have Old Cliff Jumper, which Comett suggested already. 'Tis a lovely model, and works well I think



I think next will be one of the birds suggested - haven't decided on an owl or one of the eagle types yet, but definitely one of the brown coloured ones. I do have Aotona in my stable but almost never use her I think as Comett said, it's a bit too colourful/bright, somehow doesn't work next to Flo. Can't bring myself to abandon her though, as it is such a nice model!

honestly i think cats are a bad match where a bear, boar or winged animal would do better, a cat uses stealth and intellegence to attack, where a dwarf would rather just directly run in and beat the crap out of it. im not trying to insult im just saying from seeing the dwarves... thats kinda their fighting style

This, I always pictured dwarves as ''Beat the crap of it first, ask questions later'' while keeping a sarcastic sense of humor, boars and bears fit perfectly as being animals that can be aggressive when provoked, but most of the time have a ''meh dunt bother meh plz''.

Good point!

I mostly agree on the cats, despite having far too many cats in my stables! I do however think that Sambas is an exception to the rule - I think he looks a lot more savage than the other cats in game, and quite tough and sturdy, just like dwarves Here is Flo with her Sambas (Leo)
