I was leveling archaeology today and was in hillsbrad foothills, so I decided that I wanted araga. Saw her, landed, clicked out of my mount so i could tame and...my current pet was on aggressive. Killed it before i could do anything and I /cried.

So my question is this: Have you ever landed to tame a low level rare and had your current pet kill it?

First time I found Olm lol. What a sad, sad day.

New improved Razza. Forgot I already had a pet out (my wasp Kerrigan), engaged him and had my wasp maul him to bits....I was very sad =(

I don't feel so terribly bad about it, because since then i've tamed pogeyan, ashtail, and mahamba

My friend almost killed sambas on her horde because her pet was out. I ended up killing her pet while sambas was at about 3k hp because she just sat there pressing tame not paying attention. Was funny when she finally noticed my spam in real id and she felt stupid

When my spider (who got released for the atrocity) killed Araga, I sat in stunned silence for a few seconds, staring at my spider, wondering "Why? Why do you hate me?"

My Karoma, Karma, did this to Old Cliff Jumper when I finally found him. I did feel that brief raging urge to abandon her, but then I remembered that, true to her name, Karma's actions usually fulfill some higher purpose.

Aka, I probably deserved it

She was surrounded by all of her pups...I couldn't condone such wanton violence. Those poor pups are probably gonna starve to death now :/

spent ALL day waiting on Araga before she was changed... she spawns "you already have an active pet", there goes Old Cliff Jumper practically one shotting Araga, I was dumbfounded...

yes... the evalcharr ;P but it wasnt even on agressive, it was defensive..... just didnt notice it. zzz

I did this to Shadowclaw not too long ago, i tamed one of the tigers in his spawn point and mounted, then suddenly saw him prowling so i landed and my new kitty killed him :< waited for about 15-20min, a worgen hunter was in the area killing the cats so i /followme several times till he understands i want him to come and i show him Shadowclaw, then he kills him.. so i /facepalmed, he /shrugged and i sat there for another 15-20min and Shadowclaw popped, i tamed and it turns out he doesnt even look good next to me -.-;;

I did that with Loque when I saw it, I was going to tag it for someone, and hold it till they got there and bam, dead. O.o ...felt really bad

My pet is always on defensive/passive out of paranoia - I don't think I've ever had something like that happen thanks to it.

I did have one time where I was holding something for a friend - an old world rare who was pretty common, but she was on her way - and I dropped down to trap it and oneshotted it instead. >_> Not my pet, but me, just socked it in the face and it keeled over. I explained to her that Veeka had a sudden homicidal urge and she understood, but made fun of me like crazy.

I only had my spider on aggressive because it gave her something to do while I was in low-level zones doing archaeology /sigh. I think ill go back today and look for her again.

Done all that but I've also dropped an explosive trap instead of ice cube...Boom tick tick dead. I now have a taming hotbar with only ice cube on it. Also, I miss Araga's tail stripes...

This is what I call swift-justice. You tried to take a mother away from her cubs! You STOLE the Fizzy Lifting Drink, you LOSE, good DAY SIR!

Yes. It has only happened once or twice. I am remembering once on Lupos, and I had just decided that perhaps I would not give up a current pet to tame him, and then current pet bit his head off because I got too close. I believe the only other time was Old Grizzlegut, and I was going to tame him but forgot that I had one of my kitties out. Ouch.

This is known as eliminating the competition

I think what probably happened is that maybe your pet hadn't been dismissed or something? I usually have mine already dismissed if I'm looking for a rare, but I've had friends who have found a rare, dropped down to tame, but forgot they already had a pet out and it got killed. (Since there seems to be a short delay in your pet spawning when you dismount)
