Hey everyone i am new to the petopia forums and i wanted to say thanks for getting me my new addiction =). I played my mage as my main since February '05 and just recently decided to level a Hunter. I gotta personally thank Rhapture for introducing me to the website and hunting rares.Well here's my taming story.

Ok while leveling pre Northrend finding rare spawns wasnt all to hard. I remember when hunters would camp the hell out of Humar the Pridelord. Anyway, like i said finding rares didnt take much time at all and 9/10 times they would be there first time looking for them. Only one i had a little trouble with pre Northrend was Nuramoc, he took me about 2 days. So i hit 68 and head to Borean Tundra and just start grinding to 77. i hit i think 75 and i figure " hey i can go snag Arcturis now". Well like i said i was used to finding all the low level rares pretty quick. I head to Amberstill Lodge and go to his spawn point to see 3 hunters. I was like ok ill check back later. I come back and there is now 5 hunters there horde and alliance wise. So this went on for about 8 days of me checking after every quest handin, in between randoms and i even logged off my mage during a bio during BoT raid . Low and behold i started to get down thinking i wasnt gonna find Arcturis. I started to a full circle once i hit 77 flying from Grizzly Hills up thru Zul'Drak for Gondria and then over to Sholazar for Loque and Krush. I got nothing.

Then one day im putting the kids to bed and i checked on Gondria and nothing so i take a flight to amberstill and go AFK.Well my toon lands at Amberstill and i get back to my PC and do a /who Grizzly and see 4 hunters. I said " Oh well" and i fly off and NPC go's crazy!!! There he was my beautiful bear. I land and was so nervous and excited i had no clue where ANY of my abilities were. i did'nt even ndrop a trap i just started taming. Well i now have him and named him Koda.That same night i am talking to Rhapture about my new member of the family and would u know it NPC goes off and there is Gondria!!! Same thing im all excited and and tame the lovely cat. The folowing night i am grinding quests and ore in sholazar and BAM NPCscan goes off agin and there's Loque!! Thins time there was 4 hunters in the zone and one BE flew by not 30 seca before he popped. I was so nervous i dropped down not realizing i had Arcturis still out and i took a shot at Loque and saw Loque's health dropping fast and my tame wasnt working. Then i saw Arcturis just critting away and was like omg i disnissed him and tamed Loque with 20% health .... whew.

Well anyways i wanted to tell my story introduce myself and also let any other new hunter that to not get discouraged, if u stick with it, they will spawn. I got 3 in 2 days. I am now off to get Skoll. Thanks guys for my new addiction

I just woke up early Easter Sunday, kids are allexcited about the candy. I log on about 7:00 am to check on Skoll. I left my toon at the disk spawn point and as soon as i log in BAM NPC scan goes off. I turn around to see Skoll corpse . Someone just killed him! I was so sad, how could you kill such an awesome beast. I mean he's not even for the achievement. Oh well ill check back i heard 7 hours is his timer?

He just called me with news more exciting than Skoll. I will let him update though. Also, welcome to the forums Ary!

Thanks Rhap! Ok like Rhapture said i have news. I get home from work and log back in to check on Skoll. So i see another hunter there and we start talking about Skoll and let her know what time i found his body. As i am talking to him/her i had my camera panned at me and i look over my shoulder and i said to myself " Am i seeing things?" Well i run over closer and here comes the Time-Lost proto Drake!!!!! I got in range shot it it lands on the other HUnter. She was like WTF!! So i am now a proud owner of the Time-Lost Proto Drake. I need to play some lotto with this string of luck =).

Wow, well after my TLPD adventure, i head back out tonight to check on Skoll nad there he is this time, not dead. I swooped down and now have Phantom my newest member! So like i said before, the luck i have had the last 2 days i said let me head to Sholazar and take a look for King Krush. I make 2 passes and nothing. So i make another pass and nothing still. SO right before i'm about to log i made another pass by the glimmering Pillar and NPCscan goes off!!! There he is! I dropped down and started to tame. I didnt bother laying a trap i heard he is immune. So he fears away and munches away at me, i tried another tame but he feared again and i had to Feign. I step back and i summoned my Kurken. I popped Ancient Hysteria, dismiss him and start taming again. He gets another fear off and brings me to 40%. I started taming again while i still had the haste buff and was at 6.6 secs. I tamed him right as he was about to fear again! Woot he is now in my possesion and I love him. All of the posts and advice i read on here is due to my success and just sheer luck really. I hope nobody thinks im boasting or anything i just wanted to share my excitement and good streak with fellow pet lovers =). Also i thought it could help others who have had bad luck finding them that things could look up.

Ary...between you and my girlfriend i'm gonna have you rub everything I own on my hunter. The luck spread to me and I got Karoma (found by my GF) and my raven mount finally over the weekend. Grats on the two new stable additions!

Wow, Midnight! Congrats! And I thought I had some rareluck!

Thanks guys!, Rhapture last night took me into BWL and helped me get Chromaggus=). SO i now have my new Core Hound named Drako. Thanks Rhap! Now im gonna push to 85 and i hope this luck continues with the Cata rares. I am gonna pass on Ghostcrawler, but i wanna try for Terrorpene, Karoma and Sambas. I am still on the fence about Madexx. Also what kind of HP should i have before i try terrorpene?

Well i am on my way to 85 i just hit 84. So after talking with Rhapture i figure i might have enough HP to start looking for Terrorpene. So after 3 days of checking his spawn spot i am happy to say i got him this morning at 6:45 AM. I gotta give my 3 kids most the credit they are the ones who are waking me up at 6 AM. So i figure what the hell let me check. Well NPCscan goes off and i do it again! Not sure why my brain turns to mush when that thing goes off . Well i abandoned my Felboar, summoned my Core hound and popped Ancient Hysteria and started taming. Man that Burning Hatred hits like a TRUCK!!! Well he got me to about 2k hp when i tamed him. I am soo stoked! I name dhim Tooga.

Ok now i have been focusing on Madexx. Any advice because i see this rare is gonna be a pain. WAY too much traffic where he spawns.

I have to say that after seeing Madexx's spawn spot i now know why he does'nt stay alive long. There is so much traffic in his area. All people farming ore and herbs will see him. He is absolutely huge doesnt help either. Plus the new bullshit that some non-hunter started about him dropping the Scorpion mount is making him get camped alot. I ran into a gnome warlock camping him. I asked him why he wa camping Madexx and he replied " i want the mount". /facepalm. Well last night about 11:30 pm server i was flying over his area heading back to Ramkahan to hand in a quest and NPCscan goes off and i almost fell out of my chair! There was Red Madexx!! The red one is my favorite. So i now have Ihmotep my new scorp . Now i have to make room in my stable because i now want the black and blue ones lol.

Well I hit 85 and i headed out toTwilight Highlands. So I start doing my quests and queue for heroics and just started looking for Karoma & Sambas. I didnt find anything over few hours so I said let me check on Ghostcrawler. I saw a hunter in SW with him and he sparked my interest. So swim out and after 5 mins there he is. I tamed him and I like my new SB. So last night I am in queue and doing my fly bye and NPCscan goes off! There is that gorgeous wolf!! I got karma and 30 secs later my queue popped. I got to test my new pet ( named him Lucian after the Lycan leader). I finish the random and was gonna queue again and decided to check on Sambas. Last spot I check and the scanner goes off!! I was so excited to see the lion waiting for me. All that's left is blue and black Madexx =).

That poor horseshoe must be so far up you are gonna sneeze it out some day >.<

Jeez congrats! You remind me of one of the other hunters in my guild who just has stupidly good luck...

Well i get home from work and figure let me check on madexx( Sakhet Wastes is my new home the last 9 days). I do a quick pass and NPC scan goes off and its blue Madexx!! I fly down soooo happy to find a madexx corpse! I was so sad. Well he was killed at 7:00 PM server. Any advice when i should check back on him?
