still no luck here, but the reins aren't linkable on my server so I spose no one's gotten it yet. it's killing me that i've killed him so many times before!

honestly though, it seems like something is weird with cata rares since the patch. none of the rare hunters i know have seen any, not even the stupid captains in vash who are always up.

Dreamed that I got him, but nope, I haven't found him yet.

The only rare I have seen was a fish in booty bay, and my dear aeonaxx. No sign of poseidus.
Want to tell me the macro for checking the reigns if its been looted?

you can go to the wowhead page for the reins and click the button that says "Link", copy the macro that pops up, then do it ingame. it will provide a link of the reins. then open up a chat box, shift click the reins, and hit enter. if you get text only, it hasn't been looted since the last reset, but if you get a regular item link, it has. ^_^

edit: i have a macro of these for TLPD, Aeonaxx, Gray Camel (dunno why as that doesn't really give me any useful info, but it's fun to know when someone got it), and now Poseidus. so far nothing has been able to be linked since the patch except TLPD that was apparently looted around 9 last night and then again a few hours ago (server restarts reset the server cache just like patches do) on Zul'jin

I did that for tlpd and aeonaxx, but in those cases i found the macro thing in the comments.

Linking reins is highly unreliable. Its fun to check on a whim, but it really doesnt mean anything. There are too many outside factors to make it foolproof.

This 100 times over. My comment in your Aeo thread has explanations why it can fail.

Yeah. I won't trust the linking entirely, but Aeonaxx' reigns was unlinkable until I killed it.

It's been killed once on my realm, by word of mouth (Since its BoE it caused a fuss in AH). I haven't seen it yet myself though.

Lol I had no idea it was BoE until you mentioned it, and indeed it is. All I have to say is yikes.

Miyon, I'd like to say yes to your comment about them not linking... but there have been reports that after a confirmed kill of rein dropping mobs, the reins sometimes stop linking shortly after. It's rare, but has occurred.

Aahm I see. Oh well, It's still fun to check.

I wonder if he's targettable from the air. I know I found him once from the air in Shimmering Expanse, but the spawn spot in Abyssal Depths is pretty deep down...

Yeh, definitely; I wouldn't say not to check, just don't get sad if they do link, or extremely happy if they don't.

if the reigns become unlinkable after a confirmed kill, could that be because of hotfixes stealth wiping the server cache?

also, i have had poseidus' spawn points on lockdown since the servers came up just over 24 hours ago. i guess they changed his spawn timer? =/

I believe that if you can track it, NPCScan will spot it. Being able to track everything else at that spawn point makes me rather confident Poseidus will get caught should he be there. Of course that is still just me thinking about it.. So it could be very far from the truth.

Whatever the situation, I will still continue my camp by flying above the surface - simply because it's a lot faster and I'm able to actually get away from possible attackers.

I snagged GC from the air, so I cant see why Poseidus would be different.

I have one alt parked in the Abyssal Depths and will fly around on another. See what/if/when something turns up!!

i have found the faceless in the abyssal depths from the air, and he's super far down. you should be fine on your flying mount
