So I'm running through BGs, trying to get my children's week achievement, and I go to AV, mount up, run past a few alliance... get monofire spammed by a laserchicken. I thought " Oh great, I'm going to die, need to outrun them... " And I managed to get ahead and leave them behind, when all of a sudden something big and blue is chasing me across the snow, and catching up to me fast... Oh great, a hunter with Skoll, sending his pet to chase me...

Wait...

It's not attacking me. <stops the bear, and watches as the wolf comes to a rest by her side>... How the heck?
I'm not sure how this is possible, but it seems the game glitched and left my pet out while I was mounted.

That glitch has been seen before, I thought Blizz fixed it awhile ago... o-0

But after the recent patch hunters have their pet out while mounted.
Someone mentioned it could be a fix to the pets only having 4k health upon dismounting.

This is only in battlegrounds as far as I'm concerned.

It seems to be intentional in bgs, since it's happening regularly to all of us.

ive had it happen in dungeons, its stopped a while ago tho sadly (or its just become extremely infrequently) but if i entered a dungeon mounted, when i left the dungeon and had the pet out, occasionally the pet and i will return to where sitting and the pet will be beside me ^-^

Used to be a bug, then was fixed. Recent patch, as said, has ALL pets out by their masters' sides in BGS--probably, as mentioned--as a fix to the pet HP bug. By ALL pets (and this is why I'm posting, new info inc ) I also mean water elementals, warlock demons etc! This is probably why it's reappearing.

I don't know why they don't just leave it like that, and disable it only for flying mounts!

I just hope they don't consider this a fix, just a stopgap until they can figure out a fix. Heart of the Phoenix is still next to useless.

I would be on my ground mount all the damn time.

i did school of hard knocks on sunday night to get my last achieve for the violet drake. every hunter, every game (i did about 20 games) the pets were out.

I noticed this as well, but my line of thinking was that it made it more fair to other players, since pets are like a mini-player, and it is unfair for them to be invincible while mounted when other players aren't, but that was just what I felt, I could be wrong.

Yea it's only in BGs, I first noticed it actually playing on my BG alt (who is a Arcane Mage), I saw this belf riding around with her cat while mounted, and I was like "Whaaaaat? HOW?!" You know that feeling?
Anyway you can't control them while you're mounted, their powers bar is gray like when they are stunned/feared etc. Still really neat!

I remember when they were always out when you were mounted and then flying mounts came out and they changed it. Honestly I miss my pet running beside me when I am on my ground mount. It was really nice when you had to run through a group of mobs and your pet would keep them busy allowing you to get away.
