I was having a quick browse though MMO-C, and I saw this.

Patch 4.2 Character Selection Screen
The character selection screen has been updated as promised and you can now change the order of your characters!

As an alt-o-holic, it has irked me forever when my characters are out of level numeretical order. Like, crawls under my skin irks me. Being able to order them as I wish makes me super happy.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to this feature. I'm the same as you...having my alts all over the place just as;lghas;lfhsdl;fh, I'm almost OCD about it. It really bothers me.

*likes very much* it doesnt drive me nuts as much as it does you but ooomg will it be nice to have them in order according to level so i dont accidently depete a high lvl while targeting a low one. Ive almost deleted my lvl 77 hunter cause i didnt look till i had almost finished the word 'delete' @_@

Very, very much the same it sounds like. I have a bad habit of deleting low level toons if it messes with my level order too much. Level 30 character -that I love but don't play often- before my level 70+? As much as I may like the character, they must die to preseve the tidyness of my character select screen. D:

I am really looking forward to this as well, I like my characters in a nice desending order, where my most used and maxed lv toons are at the top and my lowbie alts are at the bottom.

I too have killed characters that were in the wrong order. Like, when I first brought my toons to my account, I made a little lock to pass the time waiting for them. I kinda liked her....but, having her above Teigan and Grushdeva irked me to no end and she had to die.

IIRC, it's not keeping them in order at the moment. But this will be great when it's actually perfected and finalized and all that.

Yeah, this is in the 4.2 ptr forum. It's coming.


... and it's making me incredibly excited!! Almost as excited as the prospect of having your pet out while mounted (best. patch. ever!).

Ah! This makes me very happy indeed. I too am guilty of mercilessly slaughtering low leveled alts, just because I leveled them unevenly with the others...

ex:

85 hunter
65 Rogue
17 Druid
55 Paladin

... say goodbye, cat boy.

How'd they know I was OCD?! But seriously, this is pretty cool. Now for a few more character slots....

Eee..cant wait for this! SInce transfering to Nesingwary I hate my main being on the bottom of my list XD

What I meant was that it doesn't "stick" on the PTR. You can rearrange characters, but they bounce right back to their original position if you leave the select screen at all.

So yes, it's a given, eventually. But they may not be done coding it yet, because it wasn't working properly on the PTR as of last night.

Ah ok, I misunderstood. I'm sure they'll iron out the kinks, given how many players want this. (Apparently, we're all OCD...)

heh for me its not the lvl i prioritise, but the order which i "like" my char ana was my first ever so i want ehr first

This is really good to see! The next thing I hope are more textures on old races. But I love to arrange the characters in the right order!

For me, the level and the order in which I "like" my characters is pretty much the same.

I wanted something like this a long time ago, but I'm not sure I'd be able to get used to a new order, now that I've gotten used to the old one.

Current order is:

Xella (85 druid, main from classic, wtb this name back without deleting the character *sigh*)
Basanti (85 hunter)
Zenbi (76 warrior, TBC main from launch - midway through T6)
Epadoa (85 shaman, current main)
Xellandria (84 priest)
Hydaen (80 paladin, primary alt at the end of Wrath)
Xellie (81 mage)
Myself (83 rogue; used to be named Delenda but when I deleted my old bank alt to make room for my lock, I renamed her so I wouldn't start sending all my stuff to some random)
Harmony (85 warlock)
Delenda (60 death knight)

I'd probably swap Hydaen and Harmony, maybe move Epadoa above Zenbi (but maybe not, 4 is my favourite number and Epadoa's sitting in slot 4 right now), possibly swap Myself and Xellandria so the bank alt is more centralized... but every time I delete a character I end up throwing myself for a loop because my characters aren't where I expect them to be, so I dunno

My hubby saw this and told me about it- I was super excited when I found out! I agree- it bugs me when my characters are out of numerical order OR out of the order in which I play them most.

Was absolutely over the moon when I saw this change, I can now order my alts by level AND by faction! Like many of you I too was completely annoyed and slightly OCD about it, so this is an extremely welcome change =3

It's like Blizzard knew I suffer from OCD. Now I can move my name holders out of the way of my alts!
