Guild Wars 2 Pet Class

So Guild Wars 2 is having a "ranger" class which has pets. There's finally some video of gameplay (demo) up here:
Clicky.
This is a 45-min vid showing various races and whatnot. I'm watching it now so shall update if there's more on the ranger class, but so far, there's 2 pets visible in the video, a dog and a bear. Interestingly, they are found by players' sides in the tutorial zone, by looks,
so Rangers may possibly be able to choose their starter pet.**** There's a pretty elaborate customization (backstory) system, so it may be related to that. I think that later on in the vid there's gameplay of a mid-level Charr ranger with a leopard-sort of pet.
6:45 Dog (briefly around 18:27 as well, and 21:30 in brief action)
7:30 Bear (briefly around 18:29 as well)
16:50 Colorful dodo/vulture/chocobo-like bird, ranger pet?
****
During character creation, a ranger will have the option of choosing from one of three pets to start off with. This selection is different for each race.
I really like the look of the pets, and I could see myself leaving WoW to play it at least for a little while. The bears are massive and fairly realistic, especially in their lumbering, back-and-forth rocking gallop. The dogs have a slow idle that looks quite realistic, sort of moving their ears back morosely and looking about--they look kind of like a dane/boxer/shepherd type dog from the brief clips.

That " Colorful dodo/vulture/chocobo-like bird" is a moa bird!
Here's a look at him from a better angle! I'm way stoked about my ranger-to be, but I've been looking forward to this game for longer than I've been paying WoW :B
Anyway,
Here would be a quick overview of the sorts of pets we're looking at, if you weren't aware or were looking for an at-a-glance list :3 I'm personally still hoping the shark makes the final release, because shaaarrrrrrrk~<3

The dog has to be what I'm most looking forward to:
Some more:
White Moa (the Guild Wars version of a chocobo or tallstrider)
Spider
Rainbow Jellyfish
Shark
Wolf

That dog's paws are an utter mess lol, and the back legs aren't great either, but overall, and with the animations & skin, it looks really good IMO.

I am thrilled with how nicely they've treated the moas this time, but my ranger has rocked his pet moa since day one, so I have a soft spot for them.
And of course, there's always the drakes, which if this guy ends up being one of the charmable ones color me interested:

Yus, drakes! If memory serves, they're even a starting pet choice for charr rangers (though I could be wrong on that point).

I will probably try it, I really enjoyed GW1. I've found however that, for me, engine is all. If the movement doesn't feel right, I won't play it no matter how much fun it is. Like Rift. Just doesn't feel right. There's several cash shop games I prefer to Rift just because of the engine. Sadly, that's not something you can really feel through demos, so I will prolly pick it up at some point unless there's an open beta or free trial.
<Charr running on all 4s and standing up when still looked...weird.>

I think there'll be wild drakes to tame up! So yer norn lady can still have one :3 I kind of feel bad I want my ranger to be a human to be a descendant of my current ranger when charr and norn are so tempting...

Oh yes the Norn in their opening are asked what spirit guides them either the Snow Leapard/the Wolf/the Eagle/ or the Bear - whichever they choose grants them a were(insert animal) form.

But beyond all of that, you guys are forgetting one thing:
Rangers can also call hawks to come down and tear out your enemies' eyes*
*there may be less eye-tearing than advertised, but it's still a neat skill.

Justw ant to say something. THAT IS NOT A MOA! sorry but thats nothing like a moa at ALL. Being from new zealand the place where Moas came from I know what one looks like.
This is a Moa. That thing they call a "Moa" is more like those terrorbirds than the plant eating Moa!

So they put their own spin on it? I like their birds better... <.< I mean WoW does that too.. Terrorpene is technically NOT a turtle.. well he is but an altered version of an already living animal

No its like they got another bird thats allready real and named it a Moa. They could of gone with Terrorbird (the family that bird model is from lol) Instead of useing the peaceful moa :/
