The beginning of my Aeonaxx hunt...

Greetings all! I'm new to the forum, and found this place on Google. Sounds like the perfect place to post about my hunt for this beautiful Dragon!

The first time I heard about him (shortly after Cataclysm's release) I put off camping him for a while because there's been quite a few on my realm who are after him. I can't see most of them due to phasing, but I'm aware they're there (doing /who and seeing familiar names sticking around for long periods of time). So last week, I decided it was time to start endlessly camping again for something which I possibly may never obtain.

Patience? I got it. I spent weeks waiting for Time-Lost whilst I worked at home and pottered around the house, so my computer was always on. I eventually got him, and a couple of weeks ago I was camping on my girlfriends Priest and managed to snag him again. Nice surprise when she logged on! :D

Anyway, the only problem is so far, he's spawned two times already since last Friday and they've both been times that I'm raiding. :( Unfortunate, but I'm going to stay strong that I will get him with patience and effort. So with today marking my 1 week anniversary of my camp, why not join a forum! Wish me luck. :D

Best of luck.

There were SOOOOOO many times I wanted to quit, and the 2 times I DID take a break, I missed him.

But perseverance paid off.

Thanks! :)

Only camped for 5 hours today so far, and I've got a raid soon (!!!!) so fingers crossed he doesn't decide to spawn when I'm not there!

Ahh, good luck! I've been searching for him on and off, but haven't had time to camp lately, I've been busy >.>
He's alot harder to camp than some other thingys I was camping, that's for sure. He flies, different spawn points, and also so many people are after him... x_x

Known fact for all rares that drops mount. They spawn as soon as you leave, and they spawn when you come back in off chance for kicks cause you lsot your mind along time ago and never ever wanted to see that stupid place again ^.^

Yes I do, thank you! Absorbed all that info.

So far, I've not seen Aeonaxx at all or even a Derpbat, unless he spawned and despawned fast at the other side of the temple. Only found Xariona so far; it's awfully lonely out here... :D

Welcome to the forum!!! *hugs fellow druid*

I'm happy to help you camp when I have time, or otherwise be of any assistance. See you in Deepholm :-)

Hey Sams! Thanks a lot!

I'm occasionally leaving my NW camping spot to circle around the temple once just to see if he's already been killed, or I can luckily happen upon him spawning. I am afraid though that if I leave my spot I'll lose him... it's not been unheard of, apparently. o_o

Will keep you updated! :D

Something I learned...

ALWAYS ALWAYS check your caches, especially if you battleground alot.

I started seeing the bat cached AFTER I got Aeo, and was like...what the HELL?

Turns out some hunters may still have the original BS tamed, and that can be cached in your NPC. I know this because since I got my drake, I havent set FOOT in Deepholm, and I cleared my cahce because Im working on Frostbitten.

And I found the bat cached.

I shall remember that my friend, thank you!

I've camped about 11 hours already today, and seen nothing/heard nothing. Occasional players flying by and of course the slow passing of my sanity... xD

Shacked up with CSI at the moment, watching it tabbed out but I can still see my screen. I hope I get lucky soon, I've been dreaming about him! :)

I've dreamed about him too when I camped him. It does eat away your sanity! You don't need to move too much to pick up the other spots, a little bit to the south, a little bit to the North, so you're never far away from your original spot. Good luck with searching. I'm sure you'll find him soon enough.

Well, it must be close enough to my 90th hour of camping him now, and still so quiet...

Samskeyti has been lovely and helped me camp for a couple of hours last night. :) She took the SW circles, and I was parked up at NW. Lets hope I get some luck before I have to raid all evening. ._. I bet he'll go ahead and choose that time to come out!

Well, still no Aeonaxx...

I logged in today to find a pleasant surprise though... I'll post a picture, so that you can see for yourselves...

*Sigh*

Those two have been hovering there for about 30 minutes since I logged on, so that's going to make things difficult if he decides to spawn where I'm camping. :<

About the derpbats... I'm pretty sure I read an updated post on aeonaxxresource that said they exist for almost no time at all now... as in a few seconds. And they always did have a really small range so they're probably spawning often and you're just missing them. Just figured I'd mention it since it can be disconcerting to not see a single thing alive; makes you wonder if you're doing something wrong lol.

Thank you very much for this information.

Yes I was starting to believe that perhaps I've done something wrong, mainly with adding the Derpbats ID to my NPCscan. I keep checking to make sure I put the right information in, as I haven't seen a single thing yet and figured it was bad luck that it's not by my camping spot.

Staying strong though. Samskeyti is keeping me company, so it's not so lonesome out here waiting. :D

Another 12 hours of camping today and nothing.

As of this moment, there are around 25 people in Deepholm from my server. A good amount of them are lvl 85's, and a handful of them I've seen pass me a few times as they've circled the temple.

I'm afraid it's looking grim, and way too quiet. :(

Nothing.

Nothing.

Nothing. :<

He decided to spawn while I was sleeping, again. That marks three times now where he's decided to show up in the little time I'm not there.

Since the reset and I missed him again, I decided to hold off my camping a little. I was getting far too upset about it and actually shed a few tears. I know, I know... only a game, but I've become really determined to get it, there's just hurdle after hurdle put in the way of me. For example, this past week there has been a Shaman and a Hunter camping a few feet away from me. This is really irritating, especially because the Hunter keeps moving himself on top of me. I decided to just go find another camp spot, and am now sitting comfortably at Quartzite basin.

:<

At this point, I'm starting to think I'd take endless hours in Storm Peaks over this place. So much competition and I'm getting grief from Alliance players only. Hoping I get lucky in this spot sometime soon, please please please...

*hugs* I really hope you'll find him. Whenever I help someone camp nothing at all will spawn. Or hasn't yet. I really wish I could be of a more productive help. But Deepholm is a bleak place. No Vyra to get a little satisfaction from knowing it could have been the rare you were after... but I know you'll find him.

*sends buckets of Karma over*
