so I was flying in Storm Peaks looking for the TLPD when my eye fell on Skoll, the fourth time I spotted him
I already have him as a pet so I decided to do /who hunter and look for a lucky hunter
I was going through the names when I suddenly hear a shot, I close the window and I saw Skoll lying there, dead
And right next to him stood a hunter, I just couldn't understand why he would kill a magnificent beast like that
His reason: "I did it merely for the gold"...

Lol, I had a similar experience when I was lvling my mage in Storm Peaks. I flew over one of Skolls spawning points and spoted him. So I instan /who and found a lvl 81 hunter. I whisperd him and asked him if he was looking for Skoll, cos I had found him. But then the hunter started to rage, saying that spirit beasts are useless pets, BM´s are crap and that he only killed them for the money and selling the boe drops on ah. When I started to point out that all the ferocity pets are doing the same damage and BM hunters are equaly to the other hunter raiding specs, he just told me to buzz of.
True, not everyone likes the spirit beasts, but I would have been satisfied with a "no thanks, but thanks for telling me"- reply, instead of raging when I obv tried to be nice. -.-

Honestly, most pre-cata blues at that level really don't. Why would you buy a blue when a quest green mere moments away replaces it?

I just had someone kill blue madexx and not even loot it.. oddly enough when the person in general said that he was up, not even 30 secs later I found a fake camel statue so Im not sure if it spawned when madexx was killed or if it spawned after a few secs of madexx being up cause it took me awhile to find that darn thing..

I cant imagine anyone wanting it for rp purposes as the blues they drop looks ugly. Only blue that I've found looked semi-decent was the helms Vyragosa dropped.

Sorry, he pays his subs, he plays how he likes. Thats the bottom line, I really don't understand all the qq about it.

All the qq about it.. yes how dare we hunters who camp for weeks and weeks for 1 pet be upset cause someone came strolling over saw it was a rare so he killed it for the epic loots of 25g
or the epic blues
instead of making some actual persons day by not killing it and alot of the time people will pay for that rare you just killed for 25g *clap clap*
most people know that it doesnt drop anything, they just have it in their mind set its a rare have to kill it to maybe try and make another rare pop up...

1) I'm a hunter too.
2) I've got Frostbitten
3) I pay my own sub's, just like said rare killer.
Who are you to tell anyone how to play their game ??
I'm not even saying don't complain. However, don't then expect someone to come slong and call you on that opinion. This topic has come up before, it will again. So you can go and complain or view your dislike of their actions. It won't change a thing, he/she had every right to do as he/she pleased.
Question: why do hunters assume rares are their sole right and no one should kill it ( for whatever reason)? ( remember, i've been there, lost rares this way)
-- edit - this has nothing to do with a week(s) long camp, so your argument is kinda mute. Trying to word it such to make it sound as if the person lost out. 4th time of seeing it ??? Really come on !

*blinks* uhh.. what I am saying is that if someone was really looking for a rare, finally comes across it with npc scanner blaring off to click it and to find it being a corpse you can not expect the person to not be upset about it.
Of course they have every right to kill it, I myself wouldnt cause I know how it feels to see a rare corpse but he comes, he kills it may or may not loot it goes on with his life. Said hunter comes, finds a corpse, sighs, then comes back in 6 hours to camp.
Thats the difference in my eyes..
again if said person wants to kill it thats there perrogative nothing I can say or do to change their mind, but when I finally find the rare I want and its dead.. I am sad about it.

Moral of the story - pick up skinning.

if they didnt fully loot it it wouldnt matter and it still wouldnt help you cause your still finding the corpse.. so.. it may prevent other hunters finding the corpse I guess
have had alot of people not fully loot vyra so I couldnt skin it. Was not amused lol, his corpse takes a bit to despawn.. and I hate seeing his blue behind

Well here's something to note....Skoll is NOT on the Frostbitten list. Therefore, if someone else found Skoll before him, he had no right to come down and kill it. Now with that being said, you may pay $15 a month but that doesn't give anyone the free pass to be a total douchebag.

I shall simply quote blizzard............
"Everyone has the right to see the entirety of the content". (don't get stuck on the word 'see' as they also mean kill raids bosses so, normal rare mobs get included in that statement!)
In your opinion he was being a douchebag, why is it so hard to accept he did nothing wrong? What he did might not be considered 'nice', but it wasn't wrong! The person has every right to kill any mob in the entire game if they so want - and there is NOTHING you can do to stop him! The fact 'we - the hunter community' put such a value on these rares is OUR doing. Not anyone else's!, NOT Blizzards. So suck it up

Honestly?
That hunter was fine. The blues are actually quite nice. Loque's cloak is pretty, and I used Krush's eyesocket (someone killed it under me) to tame Krush.
What I would have done is wait to see if the person would do anything with the rare, and if they didn't, I'd kill it. Rares do not automatically go to hunters. If they killed it, okay then. Yay them. They get free gold, and who doesn't love that?
Furthermore, people rarely look at this from another perspective. You justify your rare taming and how people killing them is bad. You see someone killing Loque and steal it from them to tame, because it's worth more as a pet. What if Loque was all that person needed for the rare acheivement? And they've looked for Loque for months? Good job.
So in my opinion, while the hunter might've waited to see if you left or just stood there, they do have every right to kill it if they want. I agree, the attitude of, "It's a rare pet, thereby for hunters only" is a rather silly and selfish attitude to have.

Gonna have to agree with Makkie and Azu on this one. I've always felt that no rare belongs to a hunter until it's by your side tamed - not even the Cata tameables with their tears are 'hunter property'*. He pays his money to play his way and just because hunters may see it as rude he hasn't done anything wrong, nor has anyone else who has ever killed a rare.
I'd have more to say on the matter but I can't find my older posts about it and, frankly, the people before me said it pretty well. I'm sorry to hear that this stranger killed Skoll but c'est la vie, it's just a game and he'll respawn to wander around another day.
On a related note Azu, I've hunted Loque on and off for his pelt for ages now(because ICly that would make one badass cloak). I never have skinning when I run into him, so I always end up with a necklace and it's admittedly frustrating. I need a skinner buddy. >:l
* Blizz: You killed a tameable rare! Here's 25g, never do it again!

I'm not even sure where anyone is getting that attitude from cause no one said anything of the sort. Just pointing that out. I'm under the impression Skoll was frozen tagged, means the other hunter that killed him should've gone away cause it wasn't his to do anything with. If he wasn't tagged, then it's free game.

Ok, he did it for the gold, quick math with the best he could get for killing him:
25 gold
20 frostweave cloth (about 30g in my server)
5 crystalized fire/air (about 5g in my server)
Skoll's fang of X thing (vendors for 13g 35s 56c)
So, it would be about 80g with the best of the outcomes. Not worth if you are farming north rares just for the cash, since by doing all the argent tournament dailys, in less than 45 minutes you can get about 150g in quest rewards only if you choose the gold bags instead the commendations, almost double what you get there.
In other words, that hunter was a lazy ass. Yes, it was a total jerk for killing skoll when you where next to him, but he's also a player and has every right to do whatever the hell he wants even if it makes us so mad we want to scrap our nails in a chalkboard and spit on him, but even so, we cant control all the players (who sadly, 80% of the total playerbase are jerks) ><
