Massive Pet Spreadsheet

Hey guys!
I spent all night building this spreadsheet detailing pet abilities, to hopefully allow hunters to make very precise decisions about which pet they want for every situation! Malazee did a similar set of spreadsheets that can be found
here but they didn't offer me what I was looking for exactly, so I made my own. Feel free to go look around there if you want though.
The goal of this was to be able to see the details of the ferocity, cunning, and tenacity talents as well as the special pet abilities each pet family has to easily mix & match which talents & special abilities you want to utilize together. Because as we all know, at the end of the day what makes our pet selection so interesting is how these special family abilities synergize with their family talent trees.
Because of decisions like the above, I really wanted to be able to cross reference easily which pets have similar abilities across all families easily. For example, say I really like my spider because of its special ability Web, but I am interested in the talents available in the ferocity or tenacity trees, rather than cunning. Now I can easily go look up the spider family, and check the 'Pets with Similar Abilities' column to see if there are pets with similar abilities in the other families (ferocity/tenacity) which would offer a different set of talents. If there are pets with similar abilities from the other talent trees, I can hop over to look at those talent trees on this same page and see if the talents in those trees offer something special I'd like to pair with Web.
Now, a disclaimer: The 'Pets with Similar Abilities' column does not indicate abilities are necessarily 100% alike. A few are, but most have some differences. Like for example, some have a shorter duration and/or cooldown, but produce the same effect. It's worth noting that I did not weigh down this already huge thread with the fine print math on the abilities like cooldown, cast time, range, etc. so if you really want to compare two pet's abilities specifically, you should still look them up on petopia or wowhead to see the gritty details. Consider this a reference to just send you on your way to do the min-max decision-making.
----
Anyway, sorry for rambling, here you go:

Last but not least, please please please double check what I've done if you know your stuff! I have checked it a bunch of times myself but I really don't want the information to be inaccurate, and I'm sure there's a few things that could be touched up here and there. I wanted to also go through the different tree's talents and note which talents are available in the other specs, and which are unique to each spec, but this took so long I was up practically all night and I need to eat, take a shower, and pass out before I lose it. I may add the other info in later. I'm sorry for people with lower resolution monitors. I went through a lot of hassle to try to size it down because I kinda failed at thinking ahead of time and made it extraordinarily huge and not so great for a web browser, but hopefully you can read it for the most part.

This is nice! One suggestion I have for tightening it up would be to have two rows each for the exotic families: the first row would have their regular talent and what other families share it, and the second row would be labelled '[family] exotic ability' and have the exotic ability description in the same column as the regular abilities. That way you can eliminate a whole column from the sheet. And a small correction: in the spider row, you list dogs, spiders, and crabs; instead of dogs, silithids, and crabs.

Thanks! And that's a good idea, why didn't I think of that lol

A few quick things I've noticed:
1) Cat's "Prowl" and Spirit Beast's "Spirit Walk" abilities are not listed.
2) You have the Shale Spider's "Embrace" ability listed as similar to the Cat and Spirit Beast "Roar of Courage" ability. I'm wondering what your reasoning behind this is. Also I'd expect that if they're related, then the Cat and Spirit Beast "Roar of Courage" should be listed as similar to the Shale Spider's "Embrace".
3) Perhaps include the cooldowns in the descriptions of the abilities.
Great work overall though!

---This was something I debated. When I first made the document I didn't really have room for a third or fourth ability for pets, but now I do. Now that you mention it I may add them in. I didn't think much of it because I'm so used to 90% of hunters having them turned off (almost as unnecessary for the decision making as Play or Trick) but honestly they are more than worth noting since I'm sure there are some situations it could be great to make use of them, just like any other of these less usual pet abilities.

---This was a weird one. I couldn't make up my mind how to list these. I listed the Shale Spider's "Embrace" beside the two "Roar of Courage" pets because it does provide a strength & agility buffs, though via a completely different calculation. So, with my reasoning, if you were looking for pets that can do what cats & spirit beasts do, you might appreciate seeing it listed, even if it's not really the same buff. At the end of the day I would assume you just want to know of anything that provides a str & agi buff, and it does in its own way. The cat & spirit beast are not listed next to the shale spider because, with my reasoning again, I figured if you are looking at a shale spider and are interested in the Embrace buff it provides, it's a lot less likely you're interested in the Roar buff because it only covers a fraction of the buffs that the Shale Spider does. Convoluted, I know, but that's where I drew the conclusion. Now that you brought it up I'm wondering if there's another way I should do it though.
Zetharl wrote: Perhaps include the cooldowns in the descriptions of the abilities.
---I'll have to see about this. If I can find a way to add them in a way that isn't complete diarrhea all over the chart (I feel it is already overwhelmingly large) then I will definitely add them. I honestly didn't have time to do it the first go-around anyway, so if I put some time into finding a way to fit it in neatly I can probably squeeze it in there.

Personally you should separate the Embrace from Roar. They're very different mechanic abilities and putting them together, I feel, will confuse new people.

Other than that, great work.

I like how you did the exotics and also talents being listed as a column. The cooldowns could be included at the end of the ability description. I think the talents are listed so clearly that there is no real need to have a picture of the talent trees in the chart.

Well I kept that because otherwise you don't know about abilities where you must have put points in something from the teir above. Maybe it's not that important but I'm a visual person and I kept it in for that reason.

That's a good point. So if you did remove the first column, then you could make the current second column a little wider (more text per line), and add prerequisites at the end of talent descriptions. For example, in the Ferocity tree, you could add "(Requires #6)" to the end of the description for #12 Heart of the Phoenix.

That's a nice idea. Will think about it for next edit. My art brain finds it hard to part with the pretty image though, lol.
