Curious about your pet's gender? Here's how to find out!

Curious about whether your pet is a He or a She? Here's how to find out!

(Just for the sake of fun)... You go to the undead ghost sailors on the sunken ships off the western coast of the Wetlands. They can cast a spell upon your pet that will turn it into a forsaken ghost.. male or female. This is how you determine what gender WoW considers your pet to be. (FYI: The easiest way for high levels to do this is to put your pet on passive and send him or her in to stand on top of a sailor so that it aggros and isn't one shotted by you or your pet).

I admit, I am a bit curious; but at the same time I'm afraid that I might find out that Pyrotess's cat, Isis, is a male (as I’ve been role-playing the exact opposite).

Oh, and warlocks.. this works on your 'pets' too. *winks*

If anyone wants to gives this a try, post here and let me know your results!

Don't they all turn into female ghosts? If I remember correctly, pets, demons and the like are classed as female for coding reasons. I'm heading out to check myself, as they might have changed it, but I'm pretty sure there's no real way to tell.

 No, not everything turns into female ghosts. However, keep in mind I did say this was just for fun. Don't take it too seriously. ;)

Hrm, I'd like to go and check this out, but I'm scared that one of my pets will be the exact opposite gender that I wanted it to be. :P

Hehe, I remember this being brought up at some point a long time ago. As I said back then, I prefer to remain oblivious. Even if it's only a silly game mechanic, the knowledge that somewhere deep down my pet was considered the wrong gender would nag at me incessantly. As all of my pets are male, I know there would be at least some that would turn out to be opposite of what I think of them as, so I'll just go on being naive of the fact for fear of letting it affect me too much. xD Even knowing I could easily disregard such results, I just know I wouldn't be able to forget it entirely.

As long as Skoll remain male I might be able to live with some of my pets after finding out ... Might do it later when I have some free times c:

Another way to do this is to do the arena-style quest in gadgetzan in tanaris, and let your pet kill the bosses. When you kill the boss named Ginormus, the manager will yell something like: "The Ginormus has fallen! <Pet Name> looks like he/she's ready for more!"

I was glad to find out my silithid colossus was indeed male, but i guess that should have been obvious from the fact that he used to be called "Lord" Kiri. :D

Same here  I am so tempted to try it with Whitney, but I'm scared she will turn out to be a boy!

/run local x=UnitSex("target");local g={"n unknown!", " boy!", " girl!"} n=GetUnitName("target");if IsShiftKeyDown()then SendChatMessage(n .." is a" ..g[x],"SAY");else print(n .." is a" ..g[x]);end

^ Best way to discover anything's gender. If, indeed, it has a predetermined one.

Whoa, that's a neat macro nirvana!

Alright, so...that tempted me for some reason.

It seems that most pets do not have a specified gender. Out of Vephriel's 25 pets, only 3 came with a positive result. Beast (The Beast) and Hegg (Skoll) are both male, and Azzam (Dreadsaber) was female (clearly it doesn't know what it's talking about for him though ;)). All of my others are unknown.

I'm going to hang on to this macro though, it's fun targetting random mobs and seeing if they have a gender. xD

And certainly more polite than feeling them up.

Just ran the script and found out that my:

Orion (white saber cat): Is a girl like I was hoping.
Mulder (blue fox): Thank goodness it was a he. xD
Zellie (Shango): Was a female. =/ Was hoping it'd be a he, but, oh well.
All the rest of my pets (banana dragonhawk, armored wolf and ravager. Sambas as well.) were unknown unfortunately. Couldn't take my BM pets out, might check them out some other time. :3

Shango in the nesingwary quest chains is deemed a female so thats probably why she turned up as that gender

(if you want you can always get the pet emote addon and set her to a he :3)

Actually, here is the quest text for Dreadsaber Mastery: Ready to Pounce, which is the quest that sends you to kill Shango:

"Shango awaits, <name>. If you have succeeded in your tracking, he will not know that you stalk him, and you will need the advantage.

He is supposed to be bigger, stronger, and more ferocious than the other dreadsabers of the basin. Travel north, to the western shore of Bittertide Lake and near the falls that feed it, do battle with Shango. If you succeed, return with his pelt. "

Shango is considered to be male by the quest text.

Pets being assigned genders is in no way consistent, as it would make no sense for Har'koa, a snow leopard goddess to have a female mate. Biology just doesn't work that way.

Thank Goodness, my Zarakh is a female! So happy, considering she's a "Broodmother" and all. <3
