He could be I dunno sheding his shell? I don't know anything bout crabs sorry XD I do have shrimps tho. Do you know how old he was when you got him? He could of been at the shop or whole seller for a while that happens woth fish and stuff.

I know its sad to loose pets I cryed when one of my shrimps died last year for days but it happens D: hope he gets better.

Thats sad. The bad thing abut haveing water pets is that you can't really take them to the vets.

He might have gotten a virus or something if you had put that girl crab into the tank after, I would check out the crabs body and look up diseases it could get.

When was the last water change? Does he have things to climb on?

It's possible he's just sick, but sounds like it's rare.

It could be old age too.

I'm very sorry about your crab I wish I could have been of assistance, but I am only familiar with hermits, not fiddlers. May he rest in peace.
