Another (perfectly safe!) trick-tame

Well, as far as I'm aware I'm the first to do this, or at least the first to mention it. Either way, I proudly present: Icehorn, complete with icy feet!

Image

As you can see he has an icy aura eminating from his front feet.

Image

This is an appearance-only effect, not a buff. This means he is completely safe to trick-tame BUT will lose the ice if he dies etc.

Image

METHOD: The first time I attempted to trick-tame him right off the bat, waiting until I had 2 seconds left on the tame before spamming the petabandon macro then immediately relogged. This attempt, however, failed. The second time I tried taming something first then trick-taming Icehorn. He was down at the ocean for this one with nothing tameable close by so I tamed a condor from a way off and came back. I don't know if time is an issue or if I simply got unlucky but again it failed.
This last time he was at his north-eastern spot within taming distance of some condors if I stood between them. I grabbed one of the birds and dismissed, then attempted the trick-tame immediately. Relog: success! The rhino was standing proudly at Varethyn's shoulder.
It took me a little over a week to get this right, having only seen him 3 times.
Tip: Do everything you can to increase framerate (low graphics settings) and reduce MS (turn off addons) for a higher chance the macro will take effect at the right time.

He's certainly been a hit with the guild so far. All I need now is a name.

If you have Loque I would pick a name to match him since they both have teal glows

what's with the hoof names? Rhinos don't have hooves! it'd be like calling him Icetalons, or Shiverbeak, or Chilledpseudopod!

How about Icemist? It's an apt description, in addition to being the name of the former capital city of the Taunka in Dragonblight.

*Looks around*
Wow, I'd intended this thread to be about the rhino himself  I appreciate all the names of course but I also made a thread over in Name That Pet :P
Thanks for the suggestions :) *ponders*

I have a more important question.

What the hell is a chocolate nipple? D:

(Or nibble, is it nibble?)

Haha I wondered if anyone would notice that. 2 of my guildmates (who I was grouped with at the time) are a couple, and they were discussing getting each other treats. Yes... they have a habit of calling nibbles nipples for fun
Mmm chocolate nibbles...

Well technically I did: as I said in the method I failed twice ;) However I never camped for him, only flybys just to see if it was possible.

Thanks for the positive comments :D

Grats on your success! I've actually been trying to tame him for the past few days as well, but I fudged my first two tries. Haven't seen him again since.

Thanks! I wish you the best of luck :) He'll show up again soon. *Shoos away the pesky achievement hunters*

Thought I'd add in this: I accidentally took this guy (now named Boreas, thanks Kalli!) to ZA with me last night... I thought I'd swapped him for Tephra, my Terrorpene, but I guess it didn't register when the invitations filled and the dungeon loaded.
Basically the tank died on the 3rd boss and I habitually pulled out my tank pet... Yeah, Boreas died and lost his ice
HOWEVER! Just a few moments ago after lamenting the loss (but still loving the rhino) and slaving away getting Linkarien to level 85 I popped on to Varethyn and, lo and behold, Icehorn was waiting for me <3 So Icy Boreas is back again.

TL;DR Accidentlly killed the rhino, successfully retamed with ice intact :)

Rhinos are in the perissodactyla order, meaning they have an odd number of hoofed toes.

Having a name with the word "hoof" in it works for a rhino. :D

Edit: Also, I should congratulate you on this tame. It looks really difficult. o.O Thanks for sharing this!
