Opinion on Ravagers for a new hunter

Unread post by Jhook »

I am a fairly new hunter and I love playing the character. I have an 80 Warrior and DK and have always absolutely DREADED PvP'ing against hunters, so I decided to make one and put a whooping on some people if I can.
What are your opinions on the Ravager as a pet from starting level (~19) until end game? I like the way it looks and sounds, but am wondering how they hold up against the other pets. I do not plan on raiding with this character, but mostly soloing and Pvp'ing. I currently have Snort the Heckler an plan on keeping him (I like his looks and damage as well as the snickering).
As I am currently a Tauren, is it worth it to travel to get a Ravager at this level, or should I wait until Outlands?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

If you like them, definitely. They should be able to get you trough 19-80 without any problem. THey are also incredibly fun in PvP. Getting your ass kicked by a bug that backflips every now and then is hilarious. Their special interrupts casting and causes a fair bit of damage, so they have that INYOURFACE aspect too.

I've heard awesome things about Ravagers as a levelling companion. I had one from level 62 all the way up to 70 and he was amazing to solo with. I think they're quite versatile in terms of being able to do good damage, hold threat, and be very efficient in PvP.

If you like them then I agree - go for it! They're quite the unique pet. :D

I personally love my ravager. I've had one (with different skins but same names) since about 19. It was my first pet I really clicked with. He does great damage and I do love the noises. He seems so intense about everything. The only problem with him and other Cunning pets is he dies more quickly than most. But Cunning pets are great for PvP and as good as Ferocity pets in everything but the most challenging of PvE.

Edited to add: When you get up to it, the Rip-Blade Ravager is a really interesting one. It changes color each time it's summoned. It has the two previous skins I've used, and my favorite skin.
Please don't kill me, I'm trying to love you
