Excited About Upcoming Tame Mechanics!

Anyone else?

I've been saying this for the longest time: Sitting around camping rares isn't challenging; it's just unhealthy time wastage with a painful RNG element. Does that mean I haven't done it? Nah, I've camped TLPD and my spirit beasts, I know how it's done  But I don't like the idea, and I've been hoping (and calling for!) a truly challenging tame.

By challenging, I mean tames that challenge the hunter's skill and abilities and take effort to accomplish: something you can say with pride, "I DID THIS," not just "I FOUND THIS." These are very likely pets you'll keep by your side forever after you manage it, pets whose tames bring back an epic moment in your hunter's past.

I LOVE the idea that we're finally getting this in 4.2. Pets are being brought in that are meant ONLY for hunters, with special and often difficult tame mechanics, rather than merely ludicrous spawn timers. I'm hoping these respawn times aren't too long (else we'll have a combination of RNG + the effort! ). The pets are, from what I can tell, ranging in strategy from requiring the hunter to strip naked to tame, kiting, dunking oneself in lava, sacrificing 9 friends or pets to the beast's maw in order to placate it, and so forth.

I'm REALLY looking forward to these; I think it's an awesome idea and I can't wait to try it out. I hope this is the way the trend goes in the future!

I also want to point out that I personally think that making the old, unavailable skins--and some new--available for taming is also awesome. I'm definitely in the camp that thinks that making more spirit beasts available--especially as they are such a powerful all-around pet for BM--is a good thing!

TL;DR: More Ghostcrawler-like mechanics with beasts intended for hunters = awesome! What say you?

I say any solo challenge is good, and that I hope they don't stop at hunter tames - the same approach needs to be applied to outdoor quests and grinds so that all classes get some love.

E.g. interesting fight mechanics, interesting meta mechanics (things like the dragonmaw race or degrader event), converting boring "!" boss mobs to elites, etc etc.

But as I said, that's something I'm hoping for, down the road. The new tames are a very cool and welcome addition to the game. :D

It sounds pretty interesting to me. I don't have room to shuffle things about on Kaelys to try this out, but my other hunter Kaenn will be getting some adventures once he's the right level for this.

None of these guys are my cup of tea, but I'll be right there cheering on my guildies and anyone else who needs a hand with these guys. Yes, more challenges would be nice.

I'm hoping for another questline for a epic bow or something (like the Ancient Keepers one was with the 4 demons in Vanilla). That would be amazing to play through (heck even a class specific epic questline should be created for all classes)
