This topic is probably touchy to some, but please try to stay open-minded. I'm legitimately curious to know how closely linked gaming and recreational drugs are (however mild they may be). I'm politely asking that nobody start preaching or telling tragic stories, as most of us here are adults and are capable of making our own decisions while being fully aware of the consequences those decisions might bring.

That said, what (if anything) do you turn to to make your gaming experience more enjoyable?

It could be anything from caffeine-filled energy drinks, to alcohol, to cigarettes, to weed, to LSD and anything in-between. Why do you partake in your preferred substance while playing a video game? Do you do this often or even every time you play? Did you use the substance as regularly before you became really interested in video games?

Any other thoughts you want to share on the topic would be really interesting.
But please, I reiterate, try not to preach or put down anyone else.

I did try marijuana once, but I didn't like it, so that hasn't happened again.

Nah, I smoke, drink alcoholic beverages (Vodka! <3) and I drink energy drinks. Smoking I got started with from peer pressure back in school, drinking I do because I like it, makes my mind a little fuzzier and happy, and energy drinks because I just like the boost. I can stay up without the energy drinks, but the feeling of hyper is just irreplaceable.

Drinking and then playing games is something I do somewhat frequently. I do try to avoid getting a role in a multiplayer game, where the success of the others depends on me when I've had a drink, so it's mostly singleplayer or some RTS, but everything does appear more fun.

I'm pretty open minded to it, really. If someone I play with say that they're high/drunk, how I react will depend on how good they're playing. If they're still decent, then yeah, sure, whatever makes you happy, but if they end up sucking, which is rather frequently, then yeah, please go away.^^

Energy drinks are the only thing I'd directly associate with gameplay. I don't like coffee, so when I'm up late playing games and need a boost that's the only source of caffeine I can get, hehe. I drink socially, and have played games plenty of times while drunk, but it's not something I do specifically for playing. As for drugs, the only kind I've ever done/will do are shrooms, but that's not related to game playing at all.

Coffee, tea and coca-cola. I'm boring. xD

Well, I don't use that kind of stuff recreationally (not even alcohol). That said, after I had a tonsillectomy, I was prescribed Vicodin, and took that for a week. I still played during that time, since there wasn't much else I could do. I was recovering from surgery, after all. Given how fuzzy my thinking was while taking that painkiller, I don't think it really improved my gaming experience at all. As soon as the pain had subsided enough for extra-strength Tylenol to be able to manage, I stopped taking Vicodin.

I drink while playing WoW but I drink most of the time anyhow so yeah.
At partys and stuff I'll do weed if someone offers me it I'm to cheap to buy it myself haha. It does make you draw some crazy stuff I kmight add.

I sometimes drink, but that's it. I prefer wine, as beer makes me feel "full."

I want wine now when I think of it. Loooong time since I had some. The glass of red wine the other day doesnt count.

Anyway, it's fun to drink while playing. Doesn't affect my healing much, but I have once been running to deadmines, and getting an Albino eyegouger, without knowing how I could even find my way in there the next day.

I drink a bit. Usually white Russians or some kind of caffeinated beverage but that's pretty much it.

Vodka mainly I love the taste and smell of good vodka.

Nothing. Ok, so maybe some adrenaline depending on the swing of the game, but yeah.

Coke Zero is my drug I've got to be the most boring person ever. I'm in my twenties and have never drank, smoked, or did any sort of drug.

Caffeine and nicotine. The occasional Darvocet if hands are bugging bad. <sings to the Twizzler's tune>Darvies...make Tsi happy!

At night (right now for example) I sip on a monster, but mainly because I work a ton and when I finally get a chance to play I'm so exhausted that I almost don't want to. But on my days off I drink coke. I've played high, drunk and even both but I don't think it effects the way I play the game. Also, since I've grown up and have a family I don't really get high anymore so that takes care of that. But we do drink when we don't have the kiddo.

I have personal reasons for not using drugs. Even my alcohol consumption is pretty much limited to champagne toasts at weddings. I don't even keep caffeine in the house, although I do drink it occasionally.

Usually Black Coffee (zero sugar, zero cream, zero milk) for when I raid since it helps me to stay awake and keep myself focused (yay for ADD ), if it's early usually a coke or drink like powerade/gatorade.
I don't really like alcoholic drinks or cigarrets and never done drugs before... But since I already take lots of meds it would be just a waste of money to get some illegal junk.
